When will I get my period? I need to know!

 
Most girls get their first period around 11 or 12. However, some girls get their period as early as 9, and some as late as 16. The truth is, every girl is different. But we can assure you that, sooner or later, you will almost definitely get it.

Q: Once I get it, how will I know when it’s coming next?

A: For the most part, girls get their periods every 28 days or so. While some can predict the exact day of their next period, other girls have irregular cycles and may be off by a week or more. You may be even more irregular when you first start getting your period, skipping a whole month or two. This is perfectly normal—nothing to panic over. Says Jerry, 12, “When you first start getting it, you can never predict when it might strike. I once got mine twice in one month.”

Q: I’m terrified I will be caught totally off guard. What can I do?

A: This is the extreme fear for girls. Says Kristi, 10, “I always hear about girls going to dances in white dresses and walking out with a big red spot!” First of all, of the hundreds of letters we received, only three girls said they were busted in public with a surprise stain.
   
But, OK, there’s certainly a fair chance you’ll be surprised at least one prepped. Keep a few pads in your locker and a sweater you can wrap around your waist, just in case. Our readers also say they keep spares for friends, which is a smart (and generous) idea.

oh i forgot to mention, i do have hair down there, i shave my legs and underarms, and i am an A cup...since im so tiny i also have a lot of acne

i have a question!

so i am 12 and i am really tiny. like, not even five feet tall and underweight kind of tiny. and so for about a year and a half, i have been getting discharge in my underwear almost every day, and it is really heavy and can be really uncomfortable. also, for the past 8 or 9 months, i have been getting these AWFUL stomache cramps and stuff of that nature. it's also kinda been on a monthly basis...kinda weird. its like everything but the actual thing itself. can i expect to get it soon?

Gl i need you to answer this q for me I have beeing get more Dishchanges then last year and I am 11 what dose the. .Mean i want to know also I have been. Geting cramp latly is my period close I want to knowwhen will i brgin when my best .Friend got her i was a little jelouse i keep on wondering when I will get myperiod i want to know really bad i have every thing but i don't know about hips but iam under wight for my period

OMG! I really wish someone would answer this question since my mum keeps saying you wont get it soon. I want to know when i will get my period and when I was when I meen what age. I will turn 11 on the 11th of August 2010. I have been having vaginal discharge for about 2-6 months. It is getting heavier each time and i have to wear panty liners. My breasts are small but certainly have started devloping. I dont fit into a bra but every morning i can notice changes in my breasts. I have been growing but not really suddenly. I have okay mood swings regulary. I am 146cm tall and i have small curves in my hips. Now I have given you all the "embarrasing details" I hope it is worth it and someone can answer my question! I am desperate to know what age I will get my periods. Please help.

 

Hey chica, it's impossible to predict what age you will get your period at, but it sounds like you have all the signs of getting it soon. It could be soon, or it could be a few more months, but you're definately on track to get it sooner rather than later.

discharge since about last feb.

have hair down there

almost a B-cup

lots of moodswings

head aches

stomach aches-----------

Why is there no period? I have been waiting. I'm going to be 13 on november 14. My mom says I should get it when I turn 13 because thats when she got hers. It's been like this for about 2 years. Is it normal to have to wait this long?
