I feel lumps in my breasts. Do I have breast cancer?

 
I’m 13, and I feel lumps in my breasts. Do I have breast cancer?
 
Rest assured that you’re probably very healthy—breast cancer almost never occurs in teens. Rest double-assured because you’re obviously knowledgeable about your bod, and that will keep you abreast (pardon the pun) of your health issues.

What you’re most likely feeling are some of the many small glands that are naturally in your breast tissue, explains Dr. Elizabeth G. Stewart, gynecologist and author of The V Book. But just one lump is probably a harmless cyst from a breast duct that’s temporarily plugged with fluid. This usually goes away on its own.

Just to be safe, ask your doctor to check it out.

Hey girl, sometimes this happens if you go tanning in a tanning bed. If that's not the case, I would consider talking to your mom about it. It's okay, she's a girl too!

Hey girlie! Having a slight odor is totally normal. If you're worried it might be something more, though, I would definitely check with a doctor.

I'm scared. So I was sitting in the floor doing homework & I went to move my shorts, when I did I felt my finger hit something hard... I felt it again & like an inch from my vaginal opening there is this bump on the right side. Idk what it is, but it's tender to touch. I was wondering if it had anything to do with when I went to the park, I landed on the slide really hard & my side was sore for a few days. Idk what it is but I'm scared please help! I can't tell my mom

 

 

Hey girl. Sounds to me like its just a bump from when you fell but if it doesn't go away in a few days you really shouldn't be shy to tell your mom or school nurse or any other trusted adult, just in case its something that needs to be checked out its best to catch it soon!

Is it bad to wear a bra to bed? My mom nags me all the time because I can't stand not wearing a bra to bed. I have conceided to wearing a sports bra, but I just wanted to know if it's a problem.

 

Hey girly, It can get a bit uncomfortable and I'm sure its good to let the girls breathe from time to time, but as far as I know it doesn't do any damage to wear a bra at night- sort of like wearing socks to bed. There's no harm but your feet may want to breathe a little =) Do what's comfy for you. xoxo

I've had a horrible headache on and off for the past two days...it's like my whole head is aching, you can't really pinpoint it. I just realized that I'm due for my period in a day...could my headaches be related to that? Because, I'm not sick in any other way..but I rarely get headaches so just wondering what's going on....thanks!!

I can't wear bras. I am not big enough! It's so frusterating because almost ALL of my friends (except 1) wear them and like talk about it all. the. time... Frown

 

That's okay girl. For one you're still growing and maturing. Some girls don't finish developing until their early-mid 20s. I know a girl who didn't get a chest until her sophmore year of college. And even if you don't get big boobs or any, it doesn't make you less pretty. There are lots of pretty women with small chests. Look at Kate Hudson, Aaliyah, Zoe Saldana, Jlo and Charlize Thereon. Hey babe, most of the lumps are just fat or other things that are nothing to worry about. But it is always best to get these things checked out by a doc, just to be safe but I'm sure you're fine!

Unfortunately there's no way to make your boobs grow faster, but just give it some time! Your body is still growing, and your boobs are most likely not done yet either.

OK, In our health class we went over checking for cancer in teens for both us and guys. She said checking for lumps is very important, not because a lot of us teens get breast cancer but because she said it will get us in the habit of doing it when we get older.

She did say that with guys it is the opposite with them, that they have can start getting cancer in their boy parts when they are in their teens so it is best for us and them to check when we take a warm shower when everything is kind of loose.

Thank goodness for us most of the time the lumps we feel are not a problem but I did hear about a teen getting breast cancer so it can happen.
