Give your closet a makeover

 
Cleaning your closet doesn’t have to feel like a chore! We’ll show you how to turn that dark, disorganized cave into your personal boutique. Here’s what you need to do:


Get messy. Make sure you clean your room first, or you’ll end up with a huge mess. Next, take out everything (yes, everything!) you’ve stuffed in your closet over the years—including that old Teletubbies T-shirt!

Get a game plan. Before you just pile things back into your closet, take a time-out to decide where it will go. Make three piles: Keep, Trash and Donate. Keep what you love, throw away anything that’s damaged and donate anything that you don’t wear.

Get crafty. You don’t have to shell out major bucks to get organized. There are shelves and boxes for every budget. Adjustable shelves and racks allow you to have control over the size of your closet. Are you a shoe lover? Treat yourself to an over-the-door shoe rack. You can also use see-through bins to store easy-to-lose accessories, like belts, scarves and gloves.

Get to grouping. Think of your clothes as cliques. Dresses hang with dresses; pants cling with other pants; and shirts never, ever hang out with skirts. Get the idea? If you want to go the extra mile, coordinate the colors, too. Just follow the rainbow!
 
Get into the habit. Keeping your closet clean is probably a bigger commitment than getting it clean in the first place. At the end of the day, put your clothes back where they belong. You’ll need to make an effort for a few weeks, but after that, you’ll be on auto-pilot tidyin’ up your space.

Thank you soooo much!!! I donated all the clothes that didnt fit me to goodwill!! now i have new clothes and feel like a good person! -btw there were like two bags full of clothes!!!- LOL Smile

MOD! Ok my BFF used to be active and happy and more polite. Her mom didn't live with her for some time and during that time she was active and always happy and polite. But when her mom moved back in she is being lazy, eating a TON of junk, she seems depressed, and she doesn't pick up after herself. My mom doesn't want her over here so that she won't make a mess and not clean it. I've known her sence 2nd grade and she always gets like this after the 1st week of her mom's return. Her mom is not very supporting and had a rough time when she was gone. My BFF doesn't know this and i CAN'T tell her. Help me get my BFF back to normal without bringing up Mom. Please and thank you!

 

Hey girl! The best thing you can do is be there for your best friend no matter what! Maybe talk to your BFF and see if she wants to get out of the house and go for a run! Do something to lift her spirits and then ask her if she has been doing alright and let her know you are always there! Smile Try talking to your mom for advice as well! Goodluck girl! XOXO

Mod how do i choose between soccer and dance, i have no experience in either i choose them because i didnt like the sports i was doing before and wanted to pick something i hadn't done before and looked like fun, and i really dont know what pros and cons of of each would be

 

Hey girly, both would be really fun to do. Try both if them out for a few weeks and decide which one you like more. Dance is really pretty and soccer is really cool, so either way you'll be having fun. Smile

PERFECT advice. I think the easiest way to organize your closet is by rainbow order. It's an efficient way to match your outifts better. No more searching for that green tank top!

my closet used to be totally messy but then i saved up my money for like two months and bought a wardrobe. it helped sooo much! so if you can resist the urge to shop for like five weekends, try getting a wardrobe! their really roomy and theyve got like a bar to hang stuff on and drawers and a mirror and it looks super cute in my room

Hey girl,

There are plenty of ways to make money. Babysitting, tutoring in a subject you're good at, or starting a neighborhood dog-walking business are all great and fun options! You can also apply for a job at a local market or clothing store, but they might have age restrictions.

MOD- I have these little bumps on the bottom of my left leg before and after I shave. Do you know what they are? Also should I shave my legs above my knees? All the girls in my class do, but my mom says it's just extra work.plz help and thanks soooooo much!!

 

Hey girl,

It's actually pretty natural to get bumps after/before shaving that eventually disappear so no worries! As for the shaving, it depends if its necessary or not. If you're wearing really short shorts or a bathing suit, it might be necessary to shave above your legs.

Do chores around the house without being asked,make dinner,tell them about your school grades or let them see you studying.That will make uyou look totes responsible. And look in the newspaper for puppies or a pound.Also make sur ethat you are ready for a puppy-they take a lot of work! Maybe you can tell your parents you'll help pay for it too. hope this helps ya!SmileBetsy

MOD- OK, I need money makers!!! I can't do the norm stuff like pet sitting or babysitting because I'm at my dad's, alot. I made 70 bucks today picking up helicopters(they fall off trees) which is rare and my mom gave me 5cents per helicopter but said it has to be a penny per helicopter now because I made so much. My mom only works part-time so she does all the chores and we don't do them. But I need to make money, really bad! My birthday is on Saturday so I should get some $, but do you have any money makers for me? Thanks, and sorry it's so long.

Have you considered your talents? Asked around what you could do to help your neighbors for money? It's hard to find an actually monek making job at a young age, but you can always look around for small things to do that will add up. You just have to look around in your community.
