HEALTHY RECIPES: Mediterranean Pita Pockets

Recipes don’t have to be crazy confusing. This how-to for Mediterranean Pita Pockets lets YOU make the choices (like which veggies to use) and will come out yummy no matter what you pick.

For a quick and healthy snack, these stuff-able pita pockets rock! Add a few spices or fave crunchy veggies of your own, then pack it up and head out to school or enjoy a fast meal with the fam.

What You Need:
1 or Pieces of Pita Bread
1 Container of Hummus (pick your fave flavor)
A handful of Greek Olives (without pits!)
1 Cucumber
1 ounce of Feta cheese

What You'll Do:
1. Microwave the pita bread for 10-20 seconds—exactly how long you need depends on your microwave.
2. Take the warm pita and rip along the top of the bread to open it like an envelope.
3. Stuff the inside of the pita bread with hummus by the spoonful (as much or as little as you like), then add slices of cucumber, cubes of feta, and as many olives as you want.
4. Close up the pocket and enjoy!

Im always hungry!
I eat alot before going to school but by 9:15 im hungry again, and gronola bars/ things dont really help. What should I start eating?

hey MOD! um ok i have this eating problem. its not like im anorexic or something(i lOVE food 2 much) but almost everyday at lunch i end up throwing my sandwitch away because its boring and i dont like it. this tends 2 make me hungreier 4 junk food like the pringles im eating right now. what r some healthy but yummy sandwiches and meals i can take 2 lunch at skool?

If you're bored with your sandwich, try switching up the typical combos of bread, meat, cheese, and condiment. I love chicken, hummus, and cheddar cheese on whole wheat bread! Other options are bringing in a salad (add some grilled chicken for protein!) or a pita pocket...here's a great recipe we've tried:

If you're drawn to bad-for-you snacks, bring in a little something extra with your lunch--a bag of trail mix, some pretzel sticks, or a piece of fruit. When you get a snack craving, eat that instead of the junk foods!
