Where's My Period?

 
I haven't had my period for a while, like more than month going on two. Am I missing a period because I'm pregnant? I'm not sexually active though! Are there other reasons to miss a period or for it to be late? Two months is skipping a period, right?

Two months without getting your period is considered skipping it, but you shouldn’t worry too much. Since you aren’t sexually active, you can’t be pregnant. There are other reasons girls miss their periods, one of which will probably explain why this happened!

First of all, since your period is still irregular, it’s completely possible that this is just nature being weird. Even though two months without a period can be considered skipping it, some girls have a few periods and then go four or five months before it comes again! If it’s just your period being irregular, there’s no cause and nothing you can do.

You could also unintentionally cause this. If you’ve slimmed down a lot recently, that may affect your period. As long as you’re healthy, though, that probably isn’t the reason. The last probably excuse is stress. If you’ve been under a lot (whether it’s a fight with a friend, exams coming up, or something that’s going on with your family) it can make you miss a period.

The bottom line? Make sure you’re eating healthily, and if you’re stressin’ come up with a way to relieve it, like yoga or journaling. Don’t forget to give your doc a heads up at your next check up, too.

Mod mod mod, please reply asap! I got my period for the first time in may and them I got it in June but I haven't since! I've skipped two months going on three and last week when I went to the bathroom and wiped I saw a tiny bit of blood but then nothing! I don't wanna tell anybody but I'm worried is this normal? What do I do??

 

Hey babe, This is totally normal. You're probably going to be pretty irregular for the first few years. Just wear a pantyliner or a pad for a few days until the spotting (that little bit of blood you saw) goes away.

Hey girl, sometimes when you frist get your period, this happens. Don't worry. If it goes on for another month or so, then you should contact your doctor.

Hey girl, no need to stress. What's going on is perfectly normal: your cycle is going to be irregular for the first couple years on your period. For now, just relax. You're fine, girlie. But if a couple months go by and still no sign? Talk to your mom and make sure you're taking care of yourself. That's a warning sign something's not right.

also mod: Could happy stress (like being excited) cause a period to be late or skip? I'm definitely not stressed in a bad way. I just got a new crush that likes me, and lately I've been thinking about hiim a lot, and my heart starts to race and soemtimes my stomach hurts because of butterflies. Could this delay my period?

 

Yes!  Any kind of stress can cause a period to be delayed!  It could also be from different eating habits or body things that have nothing to do with your control!  I wouldn't worry!

Mod: I got my period about a year ago, and have had it basically every month in the beginning. (I have a bit of a longer cycle, so it started a little later every month.) This month I should've gotten it around the 6th...but I didn't. I got all the really heavy discharge and mood swings and cramps that I usually get like days before, and then it just went away. It was like everything about my period minus the blood. Now I feel normal. what's up with that?

 

Hey girl, you've only been having your period for a year so it's gonna take some time for it to get on a regular basis.  I know this is the first one you've missed but there isn't anything werid about that!  If you skip it again next month... that's when I would let Mom or the doc know but don't worry about it for now!

Sounds like it definitly could be signs for the big P!  Craving chocolate is a big warning sign so stay prepared the next couple weeks... you never know!

Im soo confused about mine, I'm 14 and I got mine when I was 11 1/2. It was all regular until this April, I'm 5'3 and I dance, now that its summer, dance isnt in session and I dont exercise much. I'm 99 lbs, and I've lost some weight but thats because I've been eating healthy and yeah.
But lately I've been getting cramps. I've been getting discharge too, I think this is the week I'm supposed to get it. I always get these symptoms but I haven't gotten it for 3 months, whats up?

Bad Cramps,
If you have really bad cramps that dont go away with normal pills that you can buy at the store you may have to go on the birth control pill. My friend had to do it and now she feels normal most of the time and she isnt sexually active yet either, so there are ways to make you feel better.

OK, I think I started my period last month. It was sort of dark brown though, not very much red, and very a very small amount. My mom said it might be. It stopped after I changed underwear though, so it lasted like maybe a day?? I had some terrible cramps before hand too. Was it my period?

The first few times you have your period it will be really irregular. It'll even out as you get older, but for now it's nothing to worry about.

Hey babe! I wish I could help you out, but unfortunately I don't know as much as your doctor will! Talk to your mom and doctor about your prob. You also might want to talk to a gynecologist (a doc that specializes in female organs) as opposed to your normal pediatrician about what you can do for your cramps.

I just turned 13 years old and I have had discharge for litterally 3 to 4 years. The last two year it has been heavy enough to soak my underwear, everyday. I wear a 34 or 36B bra, and I started getting hair everywhere 4 or 5 years ago. I have spotted 3 or 4 times, starting in May, It is June now. Can you tell when it comes? It sounds like you're going to be getting your period very soon. You might want to start carrying a pad with you whenever you can just in case. Keep in mind that for the first few months your period can be really irregular, but you'll get used to it in no time. Good luck!

I think what your referring to is how girls in the same household tend to be on the same menstrual cycle.  This can happen but it also may not.  Don't be worried by the ages you sisters and Mom got their periods!  Yours will come in its own time!

Some girls do get it that same time that their Moms but some girls don't.  Nothing is wrong with you!  It is completely normal.  You will get it when you get it so don't feel like you have to compare yourself to other girls who have already gotten it.

Yeah, I had this big test a day before school ended, and then I got out of school and was like "Where's my period?" because it was my time of month, and then I started stressing about my grades that were to be sent in the mail, and now I was extremely stressed about my period again...and then I was stressing about a "sickness", when it turned out that I simply hadn't gotten enough sleep the night before... so I think I'm gonna get my period late,like at the end of the month, because of all that stress. I FOUND OUT SOMETHING THAT MAY EASE SOME MINDS OF THE GIRLS WHO HAVENT STARTED THEIR PERIOD YET:
My mom went to her obgyn the other day and asked her if I needed to be checked out because I haven't started yet (I am 16). She said unless I do not have hair growing "down there" or under my arms, if I had that growing I would start my period and I was just a late bloomer.
So if you have the hair you will start your period eventually. If you don't then you may have a critical condition and should seeva dr right away.

Absolutely nothing!  Everyone gets their period at different ages!  I know girls who didn't get their period until they were 18!  So don't fret.. it will come soon enough and then you'll be asking questions on how to make it stop coming!

I've gone more than 2 months with a period a few times. Half the time I don't even notice. I've gone to the gyn and she said that since our brains weren't fully developed in a certain place that it would still be irregular, even after having it for almost 3 years.

Periods are and can be so confusing. But if you aren't having sex or there are people who are, but you are on birth control, then the chances are small that you are pregnant.

And stress can also affect our periods, so if you are going through hard times that could be it.

If you see a doctor just be honest and dont be like one of my friends who is having sex with her bf and told her gyn she wasnt just so she wouldn't feel uncomfortable. You need to just tell them what is going on.

I got my first period last July, and haven't had it since. I eat healthily, I'm not super skinny and I'm not stressed out. Could it be because I do so many sports during the year, and summer's the only time I have that's sport free? Am I doing too many sports? HELP!

 

Hey girl, periods are irregular even like yours! It will be fine so don't worry. And unless you're over doing it and wearing yourself out, you are not playing too many sports. Just keep yourself healthly and active and you will be fine.  <3 Jeannie

I'm really confused about mine. It was regular until I started taking this pill to prevent acne. Then I started getting it too frequently, so I started taking birth control to regulate it. I know that sounds weird, but that's what my dermatologist did for me. Anyway, it's supposed to make me get it this week- the fourth week of the tablets. But I haven't got it yet. I started the fourth week on Sunday. I know that I'm not... well, I'm not taking the pills for the reason people usually do. So that's not a possibility. Why haven't I got it yet?
