Are My Nipples Normal!?

Why? Am I abnormal?

Breasts come in all shapes and sizes-even on the same person. One might be a little bigger than the other or, as in your case, one nipple can be an innie while the other is an outie. Yes, like belly buttons.

All these differences are perfectly healthy and normal. In fact, up to 10 percent of all women have inverted nipples, explains gynecologist Dr. Adelaide Nardone. Breast innies happen when the connective tissues that run from the center of your breasts to the milk ducts, located just underneath your nipples, are slightly short. So the nipple pokes slightly inward.

Since you're still growing, there's a chance your nipple will poke out one day. But if it never does, who cares? There's no health risk in having an inverted nipple.

Mod! I really wanna get a pretty dark tan. I am white and everyone makes fun of me. My mom wont let me go tanning in a machine or use a spray. I want a REAL tan. I tried tanning by the pool and I got really badly burnt. Help?

Completely normal. In fact, most girls have an uneven match as one breast is typically larger than the other! You have nothing to be worried about!

ok so my under pants are always alittle wet ......i told my mom about it and i said it was like......white.....she said it wass discharge and after a while it would stop comin out or im getting ready for my period! but is been like a year and its still goin on and my mom isnt worried......should she be????,,,,,,should i be worried.......should i tell a doctor.......why is this happening?!?!?!?!?!?!

Hey babe,

some women don't ever stop getting discharge before their periods. This is probably completely normal. If your mom starts to worry, THEN you can start to sress but for now I think everything's fine.

I'd prefer wearing panty liners...but I TOTALLY freak out when I have to talk to my mom. I CANNOT do it! I've never been able to...I was hardly able to asked her to shave! I know she's my mom, and I should be open with her...I just can't! HELP!

It helps to remember she went through the exact same changes when she was your age. If it makes you feel more comfortable you can try writing it in a letter.

Is it normal to have discharge that soaks through my underwear AND occasionally my pants?? ALL of the time, it has an odor, that when I'm sitting, I can smell it...is this normal?

It can be. Try wearing deodorizing panty liners to keep the smell and the leaking under control. If you're really worried about it, talk to a doctor.

hey I recantly developed what I believe to be pimples inbetween my breasts. Im not sure if they are pimples tho so what else could they be? im super embarassed to be seen in a swim suit because its obvious and i cant seem to get rid of them! HELP PLEASE!!-Emily

Hey babe, it sounds like pimples, which is normal. Just wash it with face wash, but like any pimples you'll have to wait it out for them to go.

Inverted nipples are more common than you think, like I said before I dont have them but I was reading on another teen website about them and how it can affect our self esteem. And this article says up to 10 percent of us can have one so it is good to know about it.

And very important to know before we hit puberty and start dating guys.

Your breasts are still growing so they're probably sensitive right now. Try sleeping in a different position for a few nights and see if that helps.

i really want to grow my hair really long. the problem is that my hair is VERY fine/thin and so it breaks a little lower then my shoulders, and starts to get stringy looking. my hair is so thin that if i condition like every day or even every other day it gets really oily, i also blow dry my hair everyday, and straighten it almost every other day. any tips on how to grow it long, while keeping it healthy (my mom doesn't apporve of extentions) thanks!

Try to get some more vitamins, especially b12 and try shampoo and conditioner that encourages hair growth (I know Herbal Essences has one). It also might help to wash/condition and dry your hair less to let it get healthier.

On one of the comments above you said something about INVERTED nipples. What does that mean?

Hey girl! An inverted nipple is one that instead of pointing outward, goes into the breast. You can still see the look of a nipple, but it is either flat or goes inward a bit instead of pointing out.

Hey babe,

There really isn't any such thing as a "normal" size. Whatever size you are naturally is normal for you! You should be able to tell when your bra doesn't fit anymore. It will feel tight and won't look right on your chest and won't support you the way it used to. If you're not sure talk to someone who works at a store that sells bras. They can usually do a fitting to make sure you're wearing the right size.
