My two friends fight all the time! One girl is my best friend ever, and I don't appreciate my other friend calling her names all of the time. Thankfully, school is out and they'll see less of each other, but I can't get what she says to her out of my mind.
She always calls her fat, stupid, retarded, and other bad words! It annoys me because she isn't smarter than my best friend, way meaner, and heavier than she is. My best friend says she has talked to her about it, but she just blows it off. She even calls her names in front of her own mom! How can I get her to stop before she really mentally hurts my best friend?
Hey there, chica! When I was younger, my two bffs argued all the time. It can be so tough to sit there and listen to them fight. It's good that they won't be seeing too much of each other over the summer, but school isn't too far away. So, it’s the perfect time to sort things out.
Try talking to your friend who’s doing the name calling. Let her know why you're concerned. Seeing your BFF hurt can hurt you, so if she's a true friend, she shouldn't be so rude. Everyone endures a few nasty comments here and there, but a storm of them can be really rough on the self-confidence. Also, explain to her that calling your BFF names and making fun of her doesn't do any good. It's totally immature and only makes things worse for all three of you! Sure, she may not like her, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with being civil and minding your own business.
If your pal blows you off too after you tell her how you feel, you should consider if she really is a true friend. Real friends listen to each other and take what the other says to heart. Also, if she's being that rude and immature, do you really want to be hanging around her? It's tough to just split from friends like that, but if the sitch gets really bad, the sooner, the better. You don't have to immediately cut her off or be mean, just try to slowly drift away. In the end, things will be much better.
