Such a sweetheart!?

 

I don't have a backbone and I know it, but now it's starting to catch up with me. Everyone says that I'm so sweet and wouldn't harm a fly. If I talk about doing something tough they always laugh. And I'm TIRED of it.


How do I get more of a backbone?


Hey girl,

It’s a great thing that people think of you as a sweetheart and genuinely nice girl, but of course it can be tough when people don't take you seriously when it comes to standing up for yourself!


Let your friends know that you love being known as the nice girl but at the same time you have another side too—which means you need to be respected when you say NO to something.


If something bothers you, speak up; don’t let it slide. Even something small, like your friends wanting to go out for sushi when you’re so not into it. Nicely suggest doing something else. “Hey guys, I’m a li’l sick of sushi, how about we try a game of bowling instead? I heard there’s fun music on Friday nights!” Offering your unique opinion plus a fun reason is a surefire way to get your friends to understand ya.


Remember, having a backbone doesn’t mean you necessarily have to be mean. Be firm, be fair, be honest, speak up and stick to your opinions. Your friends will be sure to catch on quick and see a whole new side of you!

MOD! I have a problem. I am sooooooooooo skinny and I eat sooooo much and I don't know how I don't bareley gain much weight, but I say it all goes in the toilet. I'm 12 and I way less than 85 pounds! What's wrong with me!?

 

 

Hey girly, what do you mean it all goes in the toilet? You're not throwing up are you? I just have to make sure. If not, some girls just have a high metabolism, and are skinnier than others. You'll shape out as you get older, and you won't always be as super skinny as you are now. If you're eating healthy and being active, then you have nothing to worry about! Smile

There are definatley situations that call for asserting yourself.
The next time your friends say that you don't have a backbone, tell them that you don't want to come across as mean, but you really do have your own opinions, whether they are nice or not.
The most important thing to do is to is to be straight up with people instead of sitting in the background being trampled.

Good for you gal, for being a sweet girl. I can relate in a lot of ways. I'll do almost anything for anyone. You need to learn to say no sometimes, and also that saying no is alright. You're friends won't get mad at you for it. If they're any sort of good friends they'll be perfectly alright with it.

It's waxing, so it hurts a bit, but not that much and a professional will shape them so they suit your face and that natural shape of your brows. Once you get them done once you can pluck them back into that shape yourself on your own, so, yeah, I recommend it

Haha i use to be really sweet and kind and shy,and let people run over me,til one day this girl in my class kept hitting me on the back of the head after i told her to stop.she did it again and i slapped her.her glasses flew off her face and everyone laughed at her.she started to cry.but everyone said"Woah!cosette im never gonna mess with you!"it was such a good momment.But then the next day the girl got mad and told everyone she was gonna beat me up and someone told me,i turned around to look at her and she started to hide behind someone.i dont let people do that to me anymore.unless its just words.then i really dont care.

i even told the girl i was sorry,but i also told her if she ever hit me again i will repeat the process over (:

Me and my best friend started a babysitting business. We havent had any calls until today. My friend said they need us for Friday. But.. my friend is on vacation then and I might be. Its kind of a choice to leave friday or saturday. I'd like to leave Friday morning of course, to havve more time. But since this is a first job, its hard to say no to the family. Me and my friend have this business together though and she wont be there for sure. She knows these people and I dont... What should i tell the lady who wants us to babysit?




Hey babe,

Talk to your client and see if she minds you babysitting and not your friend. If she'd rather have someone who knows her kids already that might get rid of the problem altogether. Apart from that, you have to decide for yourself if you'd rather make money or go on vacation. One is an instant payoff and one will probably payoff more later. It depends on what you think is more important

If they're still  your friends they probably don't think you sound dumb. stop worrying so much about what to say and just enjoy the conversation. If you really want to have something to say you can always ask questions (because everyone likes to talk about themselves a little bit) or tell them about something funny or interesting that you saw that day or that happened to you

I have a bit of a problem. Me and my BFF (Steph) were locker partners last year. My other really close friend (Lauren) was locker partners with her other friend named Maddie. Me and my BFF kinda talked about how we would probly be able to always be locker partners. I THINK this year in 8th grade you can be with anybody in the grade, where in the past they had to be in your home room. Lauren isn't friends with Maddie anymore so they won't be locker partners. The only reason they were earlier is cuz they were in the same homeroom, and me and my BFF were in the same homeroom. I just got a text from Lauren that asked if i wanted to be locker partners. I was afraid this might happen. Cuz like I was planning to be with Steph again but they are both my BFF's and I dont want one of them to be mad at me. And once I know who I will be with, how do I tell the other friend??? or should i just have them work it out with each other? IDK!!! please help, i'm in a pickle Frown

Hey babe,

This is a really common problem but it's still tough. There's a really fine line between being a total pushover and being a bully and that's where you've got to try to be. It's tough to find that compromise and avoid becoming either one! Next time you're in a situation where you need to stand up for yourself, just politely ask the person to try to see it from your situation. Talk about how you're feeling and how you think he/she must be feeling. It's a good way to start making people think about what your opinion is without being too forceful and it's a great way to resolve a conflict, if you can both appreciate where the other one is coming from and find a compromise.

I have a friend who is very selfish. Everything always has to be about her. If it is about someone else for once, she figures out a way to make it about her. I am not the only one who see's it. My whole "group" see's it to. If we are all just sitting around talking she will start irish dancing just so everyone will look at her (she is an irish dancer). I can't take it anymore. My friends and i never invite her to do things with us because she is that bad. And yesterday she complained about never being invited to things and i didn't know wat to say.For example there is a guy that she likes and he likes her to and she knows it, but everyday she has to ask are you she he likes me? Hey babe,

I think you need to tell your needy friend how you feel. Try not to attack her, just let her know that you find it annoying and know that she doesn't mean to do it. It will probably hurt her feelings at first but if you're really clear about how much you care about her and want her to change her ways she should get the message. The other way to go is to just stop paying attention to her when she acts this way. Ignore her questions about this guy, ignore her dancing, and maybe eventually she'll realize that this isn't the way to get attention.

I'm super sweet and sensitive, too! It's great being like that because everybody wants to be your friend. But I can totally understand the "tough" thing. I'm really small compared to my friends, so when I say something tough, they kind of laugh and kid around. Voice your opinion, and your friends will respect you. Rock on! And good luck!

Hey babe,

If it's happening suddenly, it might not be your makeup. Have you changed anything else lately? If it is your makeup, make sure you're using a recognizable brand (like L'Oreal or Maybeline or Covergirl or something) because they usually have less irritants. I can't think of any organic brand off the top of my head, and I'm not sure that would help you anyway. If you think you are having a reaction to something in the makeup, try going a few days without it to be sure.

I did have this same prob but when i was younger i clawed someones neck. Then everybody thought i was nice again. But i sort of beat up a bully. Which i thought was pretty cool.
