MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!
I'm starting school in a few weeks and I want to wear makeup. I want to wear mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, and bronzer. THe problem is that my mom thinks that I'm not old enough for makeup. She is my transportation and the person that pays for the products, so if doesn't want approve of what I want, she won't buy it. I think that I'm mature enough for makeup. How can I wear makeup without my mom yelling at me? Also, if things don't go my way, how can I make it look like I'm wearing makeup without actually wearing any?




Hey, try sitting your mom down and talking about it. Maybe you can make a compromise and you can show her how you want your school look to be. Ask her if she'd be ok with you wearing a little bit if she has a say in what you can and cannot wear. It's worth a shot to at least try to talk about it!

MOD! Smile Is it alright for me not wear much make-up? See, I'm not really a make-up person, but I always see ads on magazines and everywhere that I should wear this type of blush and this kind of eyeshadow. But I really just wear foundation, concealer and lip balm. Is that so unusual? :/ Cause I feel that I don't belong if I don't wear much make-up or keep up with the latest colors and all that.

I don't hardly ever wear make up to school. It is so expensive and I don't like foundation, eyeliner, or multiple coats of mascara. I'd only wear that stuff in a pageant. On a normal day I'd only wear my Sweet Ginger lipstick and maybe a bit of blush.

Hey babe,

Toothpaste helps some people. Other than that, I would say leave you skin alone for a bit. It's natural to have a lot of breakouts at your age, and sometimes you skin will do better off if you give it a break.

Hey girl, freckles are pretty and flirty! Be proud of them, and let them show by keeping your face clean and clear. Wash your face every day (twice a day if you can) and if you wear makeup, use natural looking tones that will accent your freckles and open up your face. Work it, girl!

I posted this comment a few days ago but it never showed up. I'll try again, though. Here's my problem: I feel like my hair needs a new style but I don't know what would look good on me. I have a round/square-ish/oval-ish face. My hair is straight and almost to my waist with long layers in it. I have bangs that kinda sweep to the side. I don't know if I should keep my bangs, let them grow out, or try a new style of bangs. I don't know what length would be good for the rest of my hair. Since I am really tall, I don't know what lengths will look good. I only have like 15 min (usually less) to do my hair in the morning. Suggestions and advice?




Hey girl! My advice would be to take everything you just told me and talk to your hair stylist about all of these issues. Stylists are great people to talk to because they can name a couple of cuts that would look great on you considering your face shape, hair type, etc. They can list a couple of styles and then you and her can modify them to fit your personality and lifestyle. Your stylist can also show you how to style your hair in the morning and also suggest some products that would be great for you.

Hey chica, well the only way to know is to try. So ask your mom if she will let you do a test run to see how the moisturizer will look on your skin. When using lipstick as blush, make sure it's a creamier one, apply it after the foundation and be sure to blend, blend, blend.

Hey girly, congrats on loosing weight. The best thing to do right now is to buy clothing that can be adjusted. Like stretchy jeans, or skirts with drawstrings. Look for tops like tunics, that can be worn as either dresses or shirts. Hope this helps!

Hes only coming back because of me ( i thought tht was really sweet). He happens to be my boyfriend and i am pretty loyal to him as he is to me. And hes like half way across the world from me. Well the first thing to do is to figure out why it makes you sick when ya talk to him. Is it because you're nervous for your relationship or just sick from missing him?

Hey chicky, yea that doesn't sound too good. Your body needs some fresh air, so take a walk in the park, have a picnic with your friend or ride your cycle. Girl, NEVER call yourself a loser. It's better to have a few good friends versus a lot of bad ones, right? So be happy with the friends you have (even if they are busy all the time) because there is someone out there who wish they had your friends. And are you crushing on a guy? Hey babe, well lipgloss shades really depend upon two things: your skin tone and your style. Decide what kind lip gloss ya wanna wear. Do you want something with glitter, a scented one or a fruity lipgloss. I would reccommend heading to makeup counters at malls, your nearest drugstore and the makeup aisles at Target and Wal-Mart. Try out brands like LipSmacker.

Hey girly, don't look at growing up as a bad and scary thing. Becoming older is fun because you get to do a lot more activities and have more responsibilities. The first thing you should realize is that growing up is unavoidable, so. . . ya kinda have to deal with it. But enjoy and cherish the moments you are having right now. Take pics of special events and jot down stories in your diary, so when you're older you can look back and remeber all the fun times you had at every age. Hopes this helped ya!

My friend just moved about half hour away, which is way closer than she used to live: six hours away. So we see each other a lot now, but her other friends from where she used to live have come up to visit twice in the month she's been here and I've only seen her a few times. I understand that her friends miss her, but I do NOT like one of her friends that just came to visit. I can't tell my friend this because she'd get really mad...but I've talked to her a few times and they all call her a certain name, and it drives me crazy and her mom even said they couldn't call her that anymore. But they still do, and they tell me how "they both tell each other EVERYTHING" and how "they miss her sooooo much." But this is after she's been gone for a week. And they tell me how they have "Soooooo many inside jokes" and how they're "best friends forever" and I was her best friend first and she tells me things she doesn't tell them.
I sound like I'm being really selfish, or jealous...but it's just this one friend that acts like a brat and is kind of a "bad girl" if you know what I mean.
What should I do?

1. Use a whitening tooth paste and be extra careful to clean everywhere. You can get special brushes that help you clean your braces, I think.

2. Use a scrub to clean your face, dry it, then, using a tissue, pinch the area until the blackhead kind of oozes. it's gross, but if you do it right it will heal faster.

3. Use cucumber slices or wet tea bags.

4. The trick is to find a shampoo that works for you. There are some that are specially designed to make your hair shinier that might help

5. Run through your day in your head, like a rehearsal, so you're prepared for everything.

6. Try an exfoliating soap

a lot of scents like lavender or juniper calm people down. I'm not sure about affecting the skin though. GL started 15 years ago, so in 1994. purple would probably look good with navy blue.

I think they're all about that price, yes. It's normal not to want to have the talk - it can be pretty awkward, after all! But the important thing is to get the right information and be prepared, so you might want to bring it up with your parents soon. You don't have to, but the extra moisturizer rarely hurts! sephora is a makeup store and it's pretty expensive. they'll fade away naturally like any other scar and they'll go much faster if you stop picking at them.

ok, so my mom thinks im too young to be wearing make up, which i totally disagree, but thats not the point. how can i maturely explain to her that the only time i EVER feel pretty is when i wear make up? and whenever i wear it, i dont put it on too heavy, just a little bit to accent my eyes, which in my opinion is my best feature. a lot of people wear make up at my school, and i want to be looking and feeling good for the start of a new school year. and plus my mom wont let me have a cell phone, which everyone also has, so i feel like a total loser with no phone and no make up! how can i talk to my mom? and i probably need more advice on talking to her about the make up than the cell phone. i just really want to feel pretty, because ive been kinda depressed lately. thanks!

The way you explained it right there seemed pretty mature to me You just have to explain your point of view and really listen when she gives you hers. Pick your battles on this one. Either ask to be able to wear makeup or to have a cell phone, but don't overwhelm her with both.

I'm getting a hair cut really soon and need some good ideas, my hair falls right at my shoulders, and im thinking about gettting a bob again (that is what i had before). I always want to grow my hair out but it is super thick, it seems that most teens have long hair and not many have short?? I dont know if i should get it cut short or what??

It's up to you. It's your hair, after all. I think a lot more girls are starting to cut their hair shorter lately but there are still lots of girls with long hair. decide for yourself what looks best on you and ask your hairdresser for his/her opinion.

ooh! luv the eye liner! but $13 is pretty exspensive for eye liner! i think ill get navy eye shadow for cheaper and use a damp eye shadow brush to put it on! ive tried it with other colors and it works amazing! (cept pink cause it looks like youve been crying...lols)

Hey girlie!

Also try gel mascara! it doesn't leave clumps like regular mascara and It lengthens your lashes but still looks natural! That's what i started out with!! its really something.

Lots of my friends can pull off the 'no-makeup' look. Except my skin gets really red and different toned, so it looks gross! I hate going to the pool sometimes because my skin gets icky and red after I get out. I don't have many pimples, its just the color of my skin! Yuckk! What should I do? Thanks!

To be honest, I don't have enough cash to keep up with every single trend. It's ridiculous! If peach lipgloss was popular a month ago, why is it suddenly ugly now! It doesn't look any different! I would much rather keep my own style (and save tons of money) becauses the prices of everything. I mean, if peach lipgloss and bronzer looked great a month ago, it still looks great now. Also, it says that we don't have to ditch the peach lipgloss and bronzer- yet. I'm not going to ditch my style- ever! I don't have to ditch any of my favorite looks for overpriced glittery stars!

MOD I kinda like the stars, they add some fun to an outfit with ur friends, but why is every thing so expensive? I love your stuff but I don't see how girls (especilly ones that are busy and don't have lot of time to babysit) can afford $30 shirts and $15 makeup. I would love if you had some articles on stuff $10 and under on clothes and maybe $5 and under make up and accerories.

Hey babe,

Just ask your mom straight out and make sure you add that you don't want to wear too much, maybe even give her a demonstration of what you think is appropriate. Then listen to what she tells you. If she says no, wait a few months before you ask again.

Unless you want your makeup washing off all over you while you're trying to swim, I think you should avoid makeup, at least until you get some that's waterproof

Hey girl, wearing make-up is a completely personal choice and it is usually up to the parents or Mom to know what age it is allowed!  If your allowed to wear it, then wear it with pride if you want!  Don't let your sister and schoolmates get to you!  Just make sure your using all of GL's trust make-up tricks to leave you with just the right amount of mascara and blush!
