At the beginning of school, I decided I wanted to be "cool." I was hoping to make some popular friends. Finally, this girl who I thought was popular became friends with me and I was really happy.
Then she started getting mad at me for no reason, calling me names, etc. I want to end our so-called friendship and I need to know how to do it.
It seems that you've realized it's better to have a true friend than a false friend-or a popular acquaintance. But now, rather than dump the girl and have an enemy, you're better off not being obvious about your change of heart.
Sit with other girls at lunch and make after school plans with others, too. Join a sport or chorus or the school newspaper or any activity that will keep you involved with different kids. If she confronts you, you can say, "I don't want to fight," or "Of course I have other friends and so do you."

Dear frustrated, You may feel that if you drop her you won't be cool,drop her and maybe you can make a heck load of friends who will support you.Then,when that girl sees you she will wanna be this so called popular.Listen to the word popular.It means being known well in a good way.So if you make many friends that you adore and they adore you,you will be popular,but the first step is to drop her by not hanging around with her,DO NOT say to her you don't wanna be friends. hotmailgirl

you should see my school - it is sick seeing what the populars will do to stay popular. i hate my school - almost everyone is either an unoriginal clone or trying to be one. i say who cares if shes mad at you for drifting apart. If its her fault and you're being nice about it then say so long mean girl! hope it all works out
