You want to confide all your deep, dark, and dirty secrets with your BFF but she always seems too preoccupied to listen and give advice! You don't want to feel like a bother, so you get help from your other friends instead. Now your BFF is upset because she feels like you can't trust her and you two have stopped speaking. What do you do?
My BFF has been ignoring me these days and I don’t know why. People told me that it's because I don't tell her any "secrets", you know, like about guys and stuff. So she ignores me whenever I'm around and we don't really talk like we used to. I don’t really tell her my secrets because every time I talk to her about guys she usually acts like she doesn’t care. And since I don’t tell her anything, she doesn’t tell me anything either. It makes me feel left out. So I find some other people to hang out with and that makes her think I am mad at her.
I tried to talk to her about it but she didn’t want to listen. I’m tired of chasing her down to solve the problem and everyone keeps on pestering me with questions about what happened between us. What should I do if she doesn’t want to listen to what I have to say?
BFF Fix It: Why not take a different approach with your BFF and write her a letter since she won't sit down and talk to you face-to-face? Let your bestie know that you would love to tell her the things you tell your other friends, but since she acts uninterested it makes you feel upset and like she doesn't care about you. As a friend she should be supportive and so should you!
Since friendship is a two-way street, you should also put yourself in your BFF’s shoes. Do you check up on her problems and secrets regularly, or do you always just talk about YOURSELF? Maybe she feels like you never care enough about HER problems either! If that's the case, make an effort to find out what's going on in her life before dishing all the deets on yours.
