Kicking Out a Lying Lady?

I don't know what to do. My friend Jackie, well I don't really like her anymore, keeps on lying to me and my really close friends. She makes up stories about her life just to make her seem more interesting. Why can't she be herself?

One time when we were in the car, she told me that she and here sister were walking somewhere and all the cars were beeping at them. Then, since I was used to all of this lying, I said, "Oh okay" in a really dull uninterested voice. Then she said, "Maybe it was because my sister threw soda at them." Her sister is a sophomore in high school so why would she throw soda at them? Her sister's not that immature.

She's done even more than that. She's making all of us mad and me and my friends are ready to kick her out of our clique. How can we do that without hurting her a lot?

    ~MichelloAngelo'

Hey Michello-

Any girl would be hurt if her friends kicked her out of the pal posse. Before you resort to disowning her, I think you should confront her. Sometimes people lie because they want to feel better about themselves or they feel like they need to impress people. If she is your friend and she is doing this, she may feel like she doesn’t quite fit in with you gals. She obviously has some insecurities going on right now, so calling her out on her lying ways in front of a big group will definitely embarrass her and make her feel worse.

If there is a girl in your group who is closest to her, have her talk to her one on one. It is easiest just to say “ I think you are a wonderful girl and I love hanging out with you. So does everyone else, but I have noticed that you have started to exaggerate the truth a little and it bothers me. I just want to tell you that I love who you are and I don’t want you to feel like you have to impress us. “ It is important not to come out and call her a liar. This is will put her on the defense and she will not be open to conversation.

I know how annoying it is when there is that one girl in the group who just doesn’t flow with everyone else. I can tell you that it is a really petty and mean thing to tell someone you don’t want to be her friend anymore. Sometimes loving people means accepting their faults too. There is a reason you became friends with her in the first place, that person is still there, she may just be going through some stuff that makes her feel inadequate. And if that’s the case, then she really needs a group of buds to support her. Try to talk it out. There even may be something going on in her home life that is making her act this way.

Ciao Babe!

I have a really cool club called CLUB GLU!!!!! Now, how do I get lotsa members to join?

Hey girl, try spreading the word to other girlies by inviting your friends (posting a comment on their profile) or on our articles here where people can see 'em. One tip though? Don't go overboard. It's def cool to get the word out, but it can get on a girl's nerves when your club's name is posted every literally. Have fun, girlie, and good luck!

my friend has been ignoring me lately. we have been the best of friends for two years. i have noticed that every few months she chooses a close friend of hers to dislike for a little while. i never expected it to happen to me. i thought it would end soon, but it hasn't. it has been a couple of months. what should i do? should i approach her and demand that she talks to me? what should i do? i feel hurt.

Hey girl! I don't blame you for feeling hurt - it's really strange that your friend does that to her friends. I would suggest trying to talk to her and explaining to her how her ignoring you has made you feel and ask her if you've done something to make her ignore you. If she doesn't respond, I would suggest sending her an email, text, or letter telling her how you feel.

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok, idk if my other comment has already been modded cuz it isnt posted, but just in case, heres my question:
i have this girl in my class who is one of my few "friends". she tends to ALWAYS follow people, and tries 2 impress ppl to make herself seem cool. well, i told her i cdnt make it 2 her bday party so she decided 2 change the date. then she asked me if i was going 2 a class party, she btw said she was going, and i said i cdnt cuz i was goin 2 b outta town, so she decided not 2 go. i want 2 send her an email 2 stop trying 2 be cool and doing w.e. i do. for example, i told her about an Ashley Tisdale concert that i was going to, so she decided that she wanted 2 go 2!!idk if i shud send her the email tho. she likes twisting things, and my mom said its never good 2 write sumthing down on paper in case someone finds it and tells everyone about it, especially with this one girl in-particular. it gets soo annoying cuz she is always like attached 2 me like a dog. shud i still send the email or tell her straight up? i have an email saved as a draft about it, and i wrote her in a calm, cool, and collected way that if she cant stop doing the things that annoys me(ex. following, lying(she has a rep at skool that even the teachers kno about) etc.) then i cant be her friend anymore. so again, shud i send her the email or tell her over the phone/to her face??
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi babe,

Situations like this are always hard. I agree with your mom about not sending it in an email or writing it in a letter. I think you should approach her carefully and nicely and tell her what you are thinking and feeling. She could end up being a really cool friend who just needs a little guidance and hasn't quite grown into her own independence.
