What if I get my period in class with my male teacher?

I’m 10 and scared that if I have my first period at school I won’t be prepared. My mom said I could carry a pad in my purse and all, but what if I get assigned to male teacher? Even though I want him as a teacher, I don’t. Please Help!

Hey girl, it’s easy to see why you would be uncomfortable with having a male teacher when you are expecting your period soon. Your mom suggested a good idea when she said to keep a pad in your purse or book-bag, but I know it can be totally embarrassing to talk periods with a male teacher.

The reality is, this teacher has had a lot of experience with teaching girls your age who are just getting their periods, so even if he did somehow find out that’s why you’re headed to the bathroom (you don’t necessarily have to tell him), he will know how to handle the situation without embarrassing you. Believe it or not, he will know that he shouldn’t announce to the class that you have your period. Your teacher will have dealt with TONS of girls needing to leave class to go change their pad.

Before you go off to school this year, have your mom give you a Pad 101 crash course. Ask her to show you how to put it onto your underwear. If you don’t want to ask your mom, then get one out of the bathroom and practice doin’ it yourself so that when the red-tide does come, you’ll be completely prepared.

If you do happen to get your period in his class, just grab your purse (or put a pad in your pocket), raise your hand and say, “I need to go to the bathroom.” If your teacher asks you to wait to go the bathroom (which he shouldn’t), then say, “it’s an emergency.” No one will know you have your period; they’ll just think you have to use the ladies!

If you don’t have a pad with you just ask to go to the nurse’s office. The school nurse will have plenty of pads to spare and she’ll be able to help you with any other period sitches. Or you can always hit up a bestie or a friend for extra pads.

Just remember, all girls have to go through this, it gets way easier and a whole lot less embarrassing the older you get. You’ll be okay, just hang in there and good luck at school this year!

I'm 11 and haven't gotten my period yet.I have a male teacher, and it's his first year teaching, so I know that he doesn't have tons of experience with girls getting their period in class. I'm really scared that get my period in his class. What do I do?

Hey babe! No worries, other teachers you feel more comfortable with can help you out! Especially female teachers. We've all been there,and they can totally relate to what you're going through! Plus...you may not get it for a few years if you're still 11...so you may not have anything to worry about with this teacher!

UGH not for me...one day i got my period and my teacher wasn't there so we had a female sub but i asked to go the bathroom and i told her it was an emergency and she blurted out "ok sweetie! DO you need a pad or tampon?" everyone started laughing!

most ppl in my school got their period (i'm in middle school) and when i ask my male teacher if i could go to the bathroom i run to my locker then get my purse (with my pad hidden in it) then i go to the ladies room. unfortunately my school has no special trash can for pads and tampons so i have to wrap the pad in toilet paper then put it in my purse and throw the pad out at home. ugh.

Well I have two problems. One I secretly waxed parts of my face so it left big terrible marks that I can't get off. I been there for 2 days now and I got pimples and acne all over how do I remove it.

hey when i go to the doctor i have to wear a gown too and i also have to take it of and i am naked. it is very embarrassing and my dad has to go in everyone would be embarassed if your dad had to go in, it is soooooooooooooo embarrassing and i do not ever want to go again with my dad i can not even go in by myself its the offices rule. im NINE!!! ANd I got my period on my vacation! I was scared at first but when it started school for my 4th year, my mom wrote a note to my teacher so she always allows me to go to the washroom anytime. And if u have your period at school, or it's already starting BEFORE school, always have a pad in your jean pockets. that's what I do!

Hey its ok. I started my period on the FIRST day of school in 7th grade!! but it happened overnight so i knew before school. just do what your mom says. if you carry it around, and if you think you started during class, ask to go to the restroom. and iknow how you feel! i have 5 male teachers and 1 female teacher

Hey girl, I cross my legs with my period all the time, and I don't leak. Be sure to wear a pad or tampon and change them regularly though -- you should be fine.

When I am in a public restroom and I am unwrapping a pad, I think people can hear that and when I get out of the stall everyone is staring at me! hey dont be afriad if you have a guy teacher. your first period is always very small and if you wear a pantiliner, no one will ever kno. if you feel that you might start just go to the bathroom between classes or at luch and check. everything will be ok!

Hey girl, your friend Christie's a little off. Pads and tampons are meant to absorb liquid - blood, water, or whatever else. That said, it can't hold much. It's best to use the restroom in the case of those bladder cases. Hope this helps!

Mod,I started my period last year and it seemed normal but now it is all weird. I went to Italy and it was two weeks late, and now it is a couple of days late. Is that normal? Also, I sleep on my side and I always wake up and the blood escaped the pad. How do I prevent this?

Hey girl! It's totally normal to be a little unregulated your first few years having your period! Try to stay on your side at night but unfortunately sometimes there will be a little slips!

that happened to me! Don't freak, it's totally easy. Just say you have to go to the bathroom. Men freak out more about teens, and their womanly-ness. He will probably Either, A- quickly and nervously write you a pass or B- if he asks you to wait give him the "look" and say, "um it's an emergency" WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!!! good luck girlfriend!!

i wouldnt worry and if you have it you can ask your friends for help or call your mom for help and always keep a kit with liners and pad and maybe tampons

yeah i was afraid of the same thing. keep an extra pair of jeans in your backpack or locker. but don't be to worried. my friends mom started her period at 9 years old and so did her grama and her grt grama but she didnt start hers until she was 16. but dont be worried, every girl deals with it at some point in time. and usually the male teachers are the ones who are more understanding. just go up to his desk and tell him you just realized you have a feminine problem that needs to be taken care of. he'll understand! <3

If you think you're gonna get it, wear a panty liner just to be safe. It'll prevent a major disaster the first time around.

i got my first period at dance camp. it was just fantastic because i didn't have anything to use. anybody else have a funny first story? lol and to all the girlies who are hoping to get it soon... even though you may feel left out sometimes its not all its cracked up to be. even my doctor told me last year that every birthday i haven't gotten my period i should do the "yippe a yo Ki ay i haven't gotten my period dance"

well i had my period over the summer. but a good thing to do is to keep a hoodie or jacket in your locker if you dont have lockers stuff it in your backpack along with a pad. if you do get it in school just tie the jacket around your waist so no one notices (if it is your first period it shouldn't leak through your clothes, and if it does it probably won't be alot) then ask to go to the bathroom and take the pad with you in your pocket or somewhere and then just head to the bathroom its as simple as that!!

No worries... ever heard of the bathroom? almost all bathrooms have dispensers so carry 25 cents. Just say you have to pee really bad and youll be fine. Periods are overrated... take naproxen sodium, change your pad/ tampon every two hours... and you'll be fine! *ChAsE lOvEs YoU*

at this age (13) do you have to go for your yearly checkup? (like i go around my bday). the doc, she's a girl but still, is really embarrasing. well 1st- i wanna go in alone but im afraid to. i also would need to ask my mom but still. anyway: she makes me uncomfortable. im trying not to go into detail but she just focuses more on puberty and its a reg. pedeatricion not a gyeno! i mean she does her job of my entire body but feel around my vagina and does this thing. its really wierd and i've heard the nurses saying they just started this thing for young teens. she like makes me take the gown off and all so im completely naked and just show her everything and its embarrassing! she writes down stuff like how wide my "area" parts are and its awkward. HOW DO I DEAL??

Hey, you should be fine for a check-up until right before high school. She's just feeling around "down there" to make sure everything is ok but if she makes you that uncomfortable you should def talk to your mom about seeing a new one. You can also go in the room with or without your mom, so don't feel embarrassed about wanting to go in alone.

It sounds like it could be soon, but there really isn't a way to predict exactly when. Just carry a pad with you whenever you can and you'll be prepared no matter what.

If you ever want to roam the halls or have somewhere to go in the middle of school, and the teacher won't give you the bathroom pass, just tell the teacher you're having "girl problems." i do this all the time. If it's a male teacher, he'll be like "GO GO GO GET OUT!" and you can use the excuse all the time, because they don't even wanna talk about it. If it's a female teacher, you can only use the excuse on week a month, or she'll get suspicious. Either way, it's an awesome way to get out of class.
