Hey y'all! I need your HELP! I have a guy that I really like but I'm afraid he doesn't like me back. I'm one of those shy girls who gets really nervous just talking to a guy. My hands will shake and my voice will tremble. He sits diagonally from me in math and I'm nervous just to look at him. And even when I do, he looks at me back and we make eye-contact but I just blush, look down, and turn face foward. Sometimes, I think he likes me, but I can't be too sure.

Sometimes in other classes, I catch him looking at me. We make eye-contact for a second and then I drop my gaze. I don't want to be afraid to look at him and actually try to make his heart melt instead of him always melting mine. So, PLEASE respond because the end of the year is coming fast and so is his birthday. A month after his birthday is mine. Thanks.

Dear Shy,

If you haven’t seen it yet, watch the movie Sixteen Candles. The main character, Sam, has the same problem you do. She couldn’t even see her crush without freaking out, but she gets over it and things work out in the end.

But back to real life… If you don’t know the guy very well, eye contact is a good place to start. When you catch him looking your way, try to hold his gaze for a few seconds. Just a few seconds, though otherwise you might look a little weird. If he holds your gaze, he might be interested. If not, don’t freak out. He might be shy, too. You really should just talk to him. He is in your classes, so you aren’t a total stranger to him. Ask him to be in your group for a group assignment in class. Talk to him in class.

If he seems interested, invite him to your birthday party. Get a big group of girls and guys to go to the movies or out to dinner to celebrate your big day. That way it won’t be weird for either of you.

Hey girlie,

Don't ask him out right away because he was apprehensive about dating you before. BUT since he's your BGF you can be honest and open with him, so ask him if he's into any girls, etc. Drop hints that you like him and see what happens. In the long run, if you have the confidence to tell him that you still like him, then do it.

Having more than one crush can be super tough, but the best thing you could do is to decide who you really like and would want as your bf. You need to tell the other one that you really like him, but just as a friend and you wouldn't want to lose your friendship. Just be careful because you wouldn't want to start dating Nick and then decide that you really like Bob.

Try to start out a little conversation about how your day went or about a football game or something that happened at school recently. If you're too shy to talk to him solo then approach him with a friend, but not friends because you don't want to bombard him. You could even do little things like make eye contact or give him a wink or a sly smile.

MODDDD..... okay so i really like this boy.At school we have spanish together and the bell rang and we were leaving and he jokingly nudged me and then we walked to english together and he was talking to me and chose to walk with me and not his friends. And at the school football game on friday night he was watching his brother play so i went and sat with him with my friends... then my friends left and it was just me and him. And we were talking and he was like explaining the game and like making fun of me, but in a cute way..

Unfortunately there isn't a formula for figuring out if a guy likes you. If he looks at you during class or goes out of his way to talk to you, he prob thinks you're cute. But there's no way he likes the real you just by looking at you from across the room so you've gotta talk to him. Be friendly and flirt. If you come on too strong, he'll be turned off. So smile and act affectionately. Try to hang out outside of school through mutual friends. I know it's easier said than done but that's how you get a guy to like ya lol! Best, Miliana

MOD- i kind of need help! see, at our school we had a bottle drive a few days ago, and my crush was there (actually, our whole class was). i think we were flirting (me and my crush), because when i tried to unload this REALLY heavy bag of bottles from the back of a truck, he was like, “here, let me help you”, and i was like, “no, i think i got it,” but then he was like, “i don’t think you should take this, jess, because you’re not as strong as i am,” and we both just started laughing. we mostly did stuff like that, him trying to help me out, and when i asked him for help, he was all like “i don’t know, jess...” in this really joking manner. he didn’t do it to anyone else in our class, and he has this weird way he says my name-he doesn’t say anyone else’s name like that either. i think that we’re flirting, but i want to up it a bit. do you have any tips? i’m REALLY not into corny flirt lines and stuff like that, and i don’t want to sound like a total creep/poser.

Hey girl, love makes us do crazy things, right? I'm a leftie, and let me tell you, it's not easy writing with the opposite hand. Why not save the hand-holding for after class? That way you can write some great notes (and by the way, he'll tote understand if you can't hold his hand. Well I really really liked this guy and we texted alot this summer. So towards the end of the summer I texted him and told him I liked him. He was really nice about it but he didn't like me back. I really am trying to get over him now but its hard. We're both in cross country so I see him at practice every day. We don't talk at all any more but its really awkward between us. Try to focus on other things - your friends, your school work, cross country - anything to get your mind off of him. You can even set goals for yourself and focus on reaching them. The less free time you have the easier it will be to get over him.

It's okay you'll have tons more opportunities to talk to him soon! It's okay to go up and talk to him even if he's waiting for friends. Last week I asked a mod about what to do about guy harassing me. She gave me sensible advice. My problem is still going, though, because I don't know how to go about telling someone how uncomfortable I am. I'm a quiet person with a way high tolerance for annoyance; thus, this guy doesn't get that I don't care about him. How can I classify what he does as harassment? Does disrupting my work in class count? His friend tossed a note into my lap today, then kept asking if I had read it. He has loud conversations about asking me out that I hear across the room.

Hey babe, this sounds like it could get worse if you don't try to put an end to it now. It's never ok to let a guy make you feel uncomfortable and ask awkward as you may feel, it's best to tell someone about it. Find a teacher or counselor that you're close to to talk to about it. Let them know what's going on and listen to their advice. Stand up for yourself babe, you don't deserve anything less than the best.

I have had the SAME situation before. What I did was just passed him a note. This helps because you can actually see how he responds to it, while hes reading it.

Don't make it too gushy though,it might make him feel uncomfortable. So keep it simple and see what he says. Make it simple and sweet.

Today, I have been really sad. I was talkng to this guy in my math class and I though we were becoming good friends like we used to( we were friends last year but then we drifted apart). Well I was said,"I dont want to go to Spanish. Its my worst class." and he asked,"Why arnt you hispanic?" i am but thats on my dads side and he left before I was born so I only know basic spanish. So I told him IDK my dad and he said mean things about my mom. I told him that my dad left after he said that but I dont think he heard me.
HE knew he was being mean, thats what hurts. I was almost gonna cry but the bell rang and I held back my tears. Then we had another class together afterwards but we didnt talk to each other.
What should I do about this guy?

This guy is honestly not worth your time. Be proud of who you are and be proud of your mom. Neither of you did anything to hear something like that. He obviously has some pent up aggression that he decided to take out on you. I would ignore him. If it gets worse, go to a school counselor or a teacher. The last thing you want is to let this guy get the best of you.

Guy problemo numero uno:i like this one guy and he likes me.we've been playin around and messed with each other for about a year.we've gone out twice(first time he broke up with me because he didnt think we would work and only lasted 4 days,break up number two was because he wasnt sure who he liked lasted only a day)so last week i asked him why we arent goin out and he told me its because he likes flirtin with me and doesnt wanna break my heart if we go out again. i really like him..but im tryna get over him because of reason two... reason two:i recently realized that i liked one of my guy friends when he moved to venezuela over the summer.i talked to him the whole summer and i think he was flirtin with me.then he moved back and we kinda got closer.but now he has a gf who is no offfense..not cute.wen i found out i cried all night for two nights in a row.plus all my gur friends and besties say we'd make a better couple.so obviously i need a LOT help!! p.s. sorry its so long.enjoy tring to help me cuz im in a heap of a HOT MESS!

MOD MOD MOD!!!!!! So I like this guy, we were in the same class last year and he used to tease me, not like mean teasing, but friendly teasing like un-hurtful and old disses and such. This year we got in different classes but I noticed that I like him A LOT! I'm always thinking about him and staring at him whenever we pass in the hallways, but he doesn't notice me. I try to purposely trip or talk loud or do something to get his attention, but I always fail. what should I do???

MOD ! ! ! ! ok so theres this REALLY popular guy in my class, and he's also my best guy friend. i really like him. he's cute, funny, nice...hes just the guy of my dreams! i really want to ask him out but im afraid if it doesnt work out, we can't even be friends anymore. although he DOES show some signs he likes me. he begs me to sit with him during class, he lends me his jacket when i feel cold, and he invited me to go to his house(although i didnt). he tells people im like a sister to him. im just really scared to ask him out!!!! I think im in love with my best guy friend. he's sweet, charming, and really nice. i think that he likes another girl, but then he gives me hugs all the time. I even have had a couple dreams about him. how do I know if he likes me back? I don't want to mess up our friendship either. thanks
