How can I grow taller?

Check these out, too...

I am thirteen years old, and I'm only 4ft. 10in. I hate being short and I feel like it is a disadvantage to me. My mom says that I am lucky to be short, but I think otherwise. I hate being considered as a kid needing a kiddie menu at restaurants! My mom and dad are short, but is there any way to make myself taller?

Hey girl,

You are still young, there is no reason why you won’t grow a few more inches. Even if you are short, as you get older your face will mature and people will start to know that you are older. I understand that it is annoying to be mistaken for a little kid and I know you can’t see it now, but when you’re 42 and still look like your in your mid-twenties, you’re going to be in a very luck position.

If your height really has you down, you can easily strap on some heels or wedges to add a few inches of height. The most important thing you do right now is embrace yourself and accept yourself as you are. Ask any guy and they will tell you that they love short girls, it makes them feel protective. Being smaller also means you can fit into all of those super cute clothes that go on sale. You will grow a little bit more by high school, don’t worry! I grew 4 inches.

lately ive been pestering my mom about buying some high heels. she always says either, "those are too high" or just plain "NO" how old should u be to wear heels and how can i percuade her! PLZ HELP!!!

Hey girl, high heels are more of an adult thing, but you can try persuading her by explaining why and where you want to wear them. To school? Not so much. But dances? Why not?

Mod I'm 14 and almost 5"2 I weigh some where between 99 and 110 pounds. A lot of girls in my grade are short and petite/skinny or tall and skinny. I'm in between and I know that everyone is different and that there isn't a specific size I should be but I feel like I am fatter than everyone else. I have good self esteem and stuff I like my body I just don't like myself compared to the others. Plus I am a twin and my twin is about 30ish pounds less than I am even though she is shorter I am always being compared to her. But what is the weight range for my height/age? Thanks.

Youre the perfect weigh for your age and height. I know everyone else may be shorter and seem skinnier, but thats just because they're shorter. Want to know the real reason shorter people weigh less? Its because they have less bone mass than you do (your bones are longer so youre taller). So comparing yourself to them is very unfair to yourself. You are a cute girl and youre taking great care of yourself. Keep up the good work girly! xoxo kerra

It really depends! You won't be an average of their heights prob. Genetics just don't work like that. You may just be one or the other. But there's no way of knowing until you wait a couple years. Best,

I don't get teased for being short but some people out of nowhere are like, "OMG, you're short!" as if they didn't know before. But I don't actually get made fun of. I get teased but it's okay cause since most of my other friends are short we just say "we're fun-sized!"

I JUST grew to 5 feet after I turned 13. But the thing is, I have alot of friends around my height. Some are an inch taller and some are an inch shorter. But other than that, we wear close to the same sizes (size 12-16 in kids, and size 6-8 in juniors) and close shoe sizes (7-8) so that's an advantage. WE CAN SHARE CLOTHES!

Hey chicky, most girlies are around 5'2'' at your age, so you have nothing to worry about. But you will be tall, considering the height of your parents.

I'm really short, 4ft 8 in and i'm 13 years old. My problem is that i gain weight really easily. Even just a little food will make me bloated, and my stomach enlarges dramatically between the time i wake up and go to sleep. I hate the feeling when my jeans feel really tight in the afternoon when they fit perfectly fine in the morning. What's wrong with me?

ok so this is sorta off topic but i still need help. I want to get my ears double-pierced but my mom said i cant until im 16. She says that I don't need that many holes in my ears. She also says that I am too irresponsible with my earrings b/c they r everywhere and i hav lost a backing or 2. I guess I can understand the fact about the irresponsibleness b/c i sorta am... but i dont get the 16 rule and stuff??? How do I get her to let up and agree w/ me. Cuz like i already have them pierced once...

I think that if you prove to her youre no longer irresponsible and stop losing your earrings then she'll let up on the 16 year old rule. But first you need to organize your earrings and prove to her youre responsible. Good luck! xoxo kerra

I go to a private high school so we wear uniforms, but Friday we have a casual day, and I want to wear jeans and look good in them. I know I can't lose weight by then, so what kind of jeans should I wear to camaflouge my belly, my thighs, and my butt? I'm nowhere near being obese, just thick from my waist down, and I don't want those areas to be noticable in jeans. Thanks!

DArk wash do wonders at slimming you down. So i suggest you get jeans that are stretchy so they are comfortable and are dark wash so you look slim and trim. Have fun! xoxo kerra

I'm very tall... I'm only 11 and I'm about 5'9 and souposed to be atleast 6'0!!! So all of you who think it sucks to be short you shouldn't say that cuz when I was like 5 I was too tall to go on any of the kiddy rides... I was 3'0 when I was 2!!! So tall can be good but if your too tall you can actully die... The tallest lady alive when she was 11 she was only 5 inches taller than me... And she can barely walk and she has a really deep voice.. I definetly don't like that... I mean my voice isn't too deep but I sound kinda like a boy...

You're still growing and maturing, but there is no way to know for sure how tall you will be. If you go to the doctor, he or she can give you a rough estimate where you will be when you are fully grown. Usually doctors estimate somewhere in between both of your parents. You will likely get taller!

since your brothers did you still might, but I don't think it will be that much taller. You're already a little over the average height for a woman, just like your brothers are a little over the average height for a man. Maybe you'll grow another inch or two, but probably not more than that.

Hey girl, first off, remember that all girls are beautiful regardless of what size or height they are. The thing to know, though, is that everyone's body is unique and they're all growing at different rates. Give it some time, girlie. You'll definitely grow a lot more before you're a full adult. Don't sweat it now!

Hey girlie I know exactly how you feel. I've always been short compared to people in my grade, and I've dealt with a lot of comments (like hey, you're short!, it's like duh!!!) I know it's annoying, but who knows? You're still growing, and you'll probably grow a few inches by the end of the year. If it really bothers you, maybe wear some wedges or heels? Not everyday, but on special occasions it could boost your self-confidence! Also, just learn to love your body the way it is. When you feel confident, people can tell that! I know that you're beautiful girlie!

Same thing happens to me! One time ,we went to this Mexican Restraunt, and I got a Kid's Menu, I looked at the age requirements and it was like, either 8 or 10 and under, and I am almost thirteen, so I feel really bad, and at this other resturant the waiter thought my 10 year old brother was older then me!
