I recorded some of the 9/11 stuff on the TV, and only just watched it last night, because my BGF's dad died on 9/11 (of this year, not '01), and I couldn't stand to watch something like that when his dad just died...So I watched it last night, and it is just heart-wrenching, even today. I was only five when it happened, so I remember it, but at the time I couldn't quite comprehend what was happening, but I understand now, and it is just so hard to watch--especially the people jumping out of the buildings instead of being burned to death. Much love to anyone who was there or who lost someone on 9/11.

What happened at the World Trade Center that day is very close to my heart and it is almost insulting when people don't try to understand what they are talking about. This was a horrific event, and it hurts me when people say haha, or put smiley faces, or advertise clubs. We cannot remember this day and smile and not question where we stand. The bodies... The sounds of people jumping or being pushed... The sight of the collapse and fire... The screams... The cloud of death... Those who sacrificed themselves to try to help... The people dying in the streets... The children screaming... Taeler L.

I think it's so sad, but so crazy. This world is changing and sometimes not for the better.
hazlejean on 9/27/2009 11:19:54 AM
I dont totally remmeber 9/11 but my mom told me that I got really scared. I don't live anywhere close to NYC but I was still really scared. My birthday was 4 days away and I remember that year I didn't get to see my grandmother who would come down from Las Vegas every year for my birthday. I didn't understand what was going on that day and I don't think I have any family members who were hurt but now I know what happened. And it scares me to think any thing like that would ever happen and that people would purposely hurt innocent people like that. For all the people who died may you all RIP

I was about 2 when it happened, so I really don't remember it. My mom didn't really explain it to me because she didn't think I would understand... I watched it on TV, though, and she says she remembers watching that with my nanny (i used to have a nanny because both my parents worked. now my mom stays home to take care of us haha) and I watched it, but I don't think I realized what happened. also, i didn't live as close (washington state), so it wasn't as much as a crisis. now, i realize how scary it would have been for the people near it, and who actually UNDERSTOOD it... haha... it's so sad that so many people had to die for something like that...
MegZroxsox on 9/17/2009 9:34:19 PM
I had turned 4 just 4 days before it happened, and my mom was taking me to preschool. I visited ground zero two years after the tragedy. It was a horrific event that shouldn't have happened.

i was only 4 at the time but remember it clearly. my dad was in the airport the same day as them on september 10th. he was in texas the day of the attack though on a buisness trip. he even drove home after the attack and it took him 4 days. anyway, my dad called my mom while we were in walmart and she could not beleive what she had heard, we rushed to pick up my older sisters from school and stayed home wondering what had happened all day. my mom only told my oldest sister what happened at them time. she thought it would have scared us.
mamzizzlovesjonas on 9/13/2009 10:21:25 AM
since i'm canadian we don't do as much here. but we have a moment of silence. i can't remember anything cause i was only 3 or 4 but my parents told me this- me and my sister were watching barney and my dad said my mom called and said "something happened to the twin towers. a plane crashed into it or something." so my dad wanted to change the tv to a news channel but my sister and i wouldn't let him. my teacher said he visited the twin towers on august 11 so he was only a month off. it's really sad all those people died.
kgirlpanda on 9/13/2009 8:25:45 AM
i wuz only in kindyy when this happened, so i dont remember much. but i do vaguely remember seeing pictures on the wall that older graders drew of what happened. it wuz very sad and one of the most important events in america's history. the fact we were alive during it is great, but the fact that it happened was not ): may every one who died then rest in peace

I was in first grade. I remember my Uncle who was 27 joined the National Gaurd that day. Now he's over in Iraq. Please remember him in your prayers, and of course, all the soldiers and their families.

I was only 4 years old. I was at my daycare when I heard the news!
samigurl on 9/12/2009 1:54:02 PM
I had like just turned 3 and a half to be exact when 9/11 happened. I was at day care and the sad part was that we were watching all of it happen and I was too little to understand what had happened. My mom had told me when I was older that the whole time all of us were watching 9/11 happen right in front of us. It's wierd cuz I remember like actully understanding what had happened that day... I was a very smart and understanding child... I remember at lunch talking about Benlouden or whatever his name was and actully understanding how cruel and stupid he was... And asking why would someone do that. And now I'm sad while asking how could I have been that smart... No one else at day care understood... not even the 4 year old... It was a tragic day... May all the people who had died in 9/11 rest in peace, everything happens for a reason. And for all those who are survivors realize they were very lucky and that I know they have been tramatized and that still everything happens for a reason and that you all are miracles. For all those who have lost a loved one in 9/11 love them and celebrate the great life that they had before 9/11 and that everything happens for a reason and that soon you'll be back with your loved one. PEACE!ELLA! The wierd thing is 9/11 without the slash would be 911 and many people probably had called 911... Kinda ironic.... MAY ALL THOSE AFFECTED BY 9/11 CELEBRATE THE LIFE OF THOSE LOST AND YOUR OWN LIFE... AND REALIZE THAT YOU ARE SUCH A MIRACLE TO LIVE THROUGH THAT HORRIBLE DAY.

I was in pre school when it happend. i remember my pre school teaches were watching the news when it came on. None of us kids were paying attention because we were playing. But I remember looking up and seeing people jumping out of the buildings. I didn't understand what was happening and just continued to play. Then when I went home I remember the videos still being on and my mom and neighbors were hanging American Flags outside and all that. I just didn't understand until my mom explained what happend earlier that morning

I was only in Preschool when 9/11 happened, I was getting ready to go to preschool but we turned on te TV to check the weather to see the Twin Towers falling and a plane crashing here in PA about 45 minutes away from my house. I didn't get why I couldn't go to school, it was because w lived right near the airport so who knows wat cold've happened. To this day, it still makes me tear up when I see or hear about it. Any of you girls here on GL who had family who died or got hurt during 9/11, all of us here on GL feel for you. Really touching article.

That's really sad. Andcruel of the terroists. I can't remeber because I was only three or four. My mom said that she didn't want my bro ther to go to school and we live on a whole different side of the US!!! But he went. On T.V., they were showing videos. A couple of times I had to stop watching. Especialy when people werejumping out. Really melancholy and depressing.

I remember that day. I was in Kindergarten. I didn't go to school that day because I lived right by D.C. [I was in PM kindergarten] The school was in a red lock down for the whole day. I remember the boom. My mom told me we had no school...I went up to my room, and then..I heard ir.
volleyballgirl96 on 9/12/2009 11:13:32 AM
that day was very sad. I was in kindergarten, and I barely Remember it. Everybody Was frantic, and I didn't know what was going on. And, it happened right here in Minneapolis. Just a short 20 miles away. That could've been me on the plane. That could've been somebody whom i dearly loved. I am always realizing that I am one of the lucky ones in life, who has always been safe and sound. If that happened to me or a loved one, I probably couldn't of been as brave of those who did have a loved one on that plane. God bless everyone, and I still Pray that they are alright.

i was in first grade when it happened. i remember hearing the announcement on the PA that the twin towers were hit by airplane and we were going home asap. i remember not fully understanding what was going on. i also remember how scared everyone is. kids, and teachers crying. i remember going home and watching the news, the video and seeing all those people run and hide, and i remember crying. my friends mom was very lucky that day. there was a building in between the two towers, and his mom worked there. and she was her way too work, but she forgot to give him his medicine, so she had to turn around and go home. and when she got back on her way to work she was listening to the radio and her the annoucnment and went back home. she was very lucky that day, and my friend in a way saved his mother. i pray to God that nothing like that ever happens. again. to anyone. anywhere. that was such a tradegy. R.I.P. all those innocent souls that were lost that horrible nightmare-ish day.

I was only 6 years old and I don't remember much about it. And I haven't seen very much videos about it or anything. But that was such a sad day, and from the videos I have seen, they make me want to cry. I feel so sorry for anyone who lost a loved one, and for the victims themselves. If only one good thing came out of that, it is that America became closer that day. Today at school they didn't announce it or anything. But we had a moment of silence. The other kids in my class kept talking during it at first, and we had to tell them to be quiet. It's terrible that they didn't care enough to be quiet for just a moment, in honor of those who lost their lives and the ones who lost their lives trying to save others. Most of the students who wouldn't be quiet probably forgot. I will never forget. Never forget this tragic day... *****God bless!

9/11 was a sad day. I do not remember it really well because I was only 5 and was in afternoon kondergarden. I just remember that my mom was watching the tv and calling my grandma, her friend, and some other people. I did not know what was going on. Today in school we were watching 102 Mintues That Changed America on the History channel that my history teacher recorded. It was really sad.

I was in 2nd grade in school on 9-11 and i remember all the teachers were freaking out becasue (at the time) my school was down the street from the largest navel base on the east coast. at that time i was only 6 so i didnt really realize what had happened until it was explained to me. 9-11 was a terrible terrible event, but if there is one good thing that came out of it, it is that it united our country in patriotism and the fight against terrorism. i was so proud when i went into school today and saw all of the red white and blue (i live near a marine base now) oh, and if anyone wants to hear a really good song about 9/11 look up "have you forgotten" its really good, and no matter what day it is this song always brings back all of the emotions on 9/11 for me. God bless all those who died and those who are still fighting because of the 9.11 attacks.
