The Vampire Diaries: Did You Watch?

 

Cute vampire boy, psychic best friend, evil vampire brother (who brings a crow and fog wherever he goes), ditzy classmates, ex-boyfriends, dysfunctional human brother and a beautiful girl surrounded by it all. The Vampire Diaries series premiere was full of eye candy and drama.


Since most of the country is in a vampire craze (we can’t get enough!), with Twilight being at the forefront, it’s hard not to compare The CW’s latest show to the hit book and movie franchise. Let me just say, I LOVE Twilight, but I think I’m going to LOVE The Vampire Diaries too (for different reasons, of course).


The TV show is edgier with its material and the characters are more developed with vibrant personalities. The leading lady, Elena, is dealing with the loss of her parents when the leading man—err, vamp—walks into her life. Elena connects with him right away, becoming more interested when he mentions his parents are dead, too. What Elena doesn’t know, however, is exactly how interesting he is. Stefan is full of mystery and vampire hotness, which only increases when his brother shows up at the end of the show as the obvious villain in the series who really likes human blood.


While Elena starts crushin’ on Stefan, her ex-boyfriend, a jock-type guy, gets jealous. Can we just say we would pick the vampire over the football player any day! Besides the obvious romances, the show has some interesting characters that we can’t wait to learn more about. Elena’s BFF can see the future and saw Stefan’s evil brother show up. And, I have a bad feeling this evil brother is going to try and break up Stefan and Elena (but I could be wrong).


Twilight sure has some competition. The Vampire Diaries is more mature in the themes and content and the budding romance between Elena and Stefan is far more complex. The questions that come from watching the first episode will surely be answered in the weeks to come. Plus, the soundtrack for the show is awesome!

The Vampire Diaries was written in about 1991 or 1992. Twilight just copied the Vampire Diaries so say that Twilight copied the Vampire Diaries, so if your gonna say something, make sure it is true. I love this series and I ABSOLUTELY HATE Twilight. Damon is my fave. Can't wait for it to come back on the 21st! And after a week after that is my birthday!

yall are so out of it l.j. smith wrote the vampire dairies books before the twilight books even came out. so twilight pretty much copied them.

i loved the show it was super good 10 times grater than twilight i am sorry it {stunk} i was super happy about it till it came out the book is like a 100 on a scale of 1 to 10 i think people said it was good cuz the whanted it to be good but it was so bad and edward is (ugly) Jacob is realy realy realy hot " am i the only one that is willing to admit that is was so bad???"

This is a totally age approperiate show i am 12 and i watch secret life and gossip girl so if you can't take good shows then through out the tv o and the effects are way better than twilights i mean really edward looks like he's on steroids lol

this is way better than Twilight its not like i don't like Twilight its just this is way more mature and not so lovey dovey and what not. Vampire Diaries is not a copy of Twilight because the books were made like a decade before Twilight the first book so yea. Vampire Diaries is just plain better

First up the series where like 13 years before the twilit trauma. I agree i to am a fan of twilight. so basically the vampire diaries is not copying twilight. I have fantasy crushes on some of the guys in these type shows.
Am I the only one? There is just something really hot about the guys they show. In some ways I wouldnt mind being bitten by one of them. Is that weird?

I still havent been able to watch The Vampire Diaries. But I did watch a number of episodes of True Blood on cable yesterday with my mom. All I can say is that show gets crazy.
Does anyone know how The Vampire Diaries compares to True Blood?

In Twilight, all they do is brood about how much they love each other and nothing happens, but Vampire Diaries is actually romantic and it's THRILLING!!!!

while the books were written before twilite i think the show is still like a copy. only because of the fact that the movie twilite was made b4 this show was. if twilite the movie had not had much sucsess then no one would have bothered to make ths into a show.

it really wasnt a copy of twilight, the vampire diaries books came out before the twilight ones did, so dont hate the vampire diaries, just because YOU thinks it a copy and trying to be the next twilight because it isnt, it was way before twilight

watched the rerun yesterday..it was okay i guess.
i'd have to watch more to say my opinion.
but i didnt like the effects, when the stephen and damon almost faught.,. the effects were bad and didnt thrill me

i watched the premiere. i wasnt all to excited about it. i mean its ok, but since i actually read the series a year ago, i wasnt too thrilled. they didnt really stick to the book. but hey, they never do. but i do think that the evil brother is hott Laughing

omg!!!!! if anything twilight is a rip off of vampire diaries!!!! it came out way before twilight. it was just recently reprinted thats all!!!! i love twilight, but everyone needs to stop hating on vampire diaries! the totally messed up the show, but the funny thing is that the change they made that annoys me the most is that elena isn't blond. i always pronounced it like ellen with an a added not elaina. that really bugs me and stefan is italian. his name has a different pronunciation then they have in the show and they left out meredith!!!!! how could they!!!! she rocked in the books!

I watched it, but the books are so much better. It was good though. They changed a lot. I'm not going to give up on it, and I loved how they used Never Say Never by The Fray (The Fray=♥). My advice is read the books first, then watch.

i saw it and it was THE MOST AWESOME show i've EVER seen!!! i am def one of the peeps with an obsession for hot mysterious vamps and love the whole vampire thing. i love the mystery, suspense, and "horror" (it's not really THAT scary) in both twilight and vamp. diaries!
