I’m completely pigeon-toed and hate it. Can I change the way my feet turn?

In most cases, the inward curve straightens out as you grow, so says Arnold Ravick, M.D., American Podiatric Medical Association. This is because as your pelvic bone widens, your legs naturally start to turn out. By the time you finish growing, your feet should be pointing normally.

If you don’t want to wait it out, you can lessen the inwardness of your feet. “Activities like biking and in-line skating force the legs and feet to face outward,” says Dr. Ravick. Speak to a podiatrist about insoles for your shoes and special exercises. For a free pamphlet, go to www.apma.org.

well anyways im 15 and im still pigeon toed. from wat i understand ur supposed to grow out of it when u get older but i still haventt? ive seen a doctor but they didnt really do anything..wat should i do?

Hey!!!

Yeah... I hate my ffet one of my feet, my right is soooo ugly cuz I borke it and had surgery so it has a scar about half of my foot and plus they're huge... I'm only 11 and I wear size 13 and I'm 5'9 but thats cuz my dad is 6'9..... but my feet don't have arches so when I'm a teen I will have back and knee problems.... STUPID FEET!!!

MOD MOD MOD MOD I have had my period for almost two years and when i use tampons its easy to get the application in but when i go to push the actual tampon in it really hurts. is there any reason this happens? can i prevent it somehow?

Hey girl,

It sounds like you might be pushing the applicator up to far before you push in the tampon. Try not pushing it up so far, so the tampon has room to slide in.

oh yeah, I'm super pigeon toed as well. It was really bad, since i take ballet, so my teachers were bugged by the fact that i couldn't turn out my feet enough. but one of my teachers showed me these stretches, and now i'm almost neutral and I can turn out my feet more!!

*MOD* Okay. I have a slight feeling I'm insomniac. I don't fall asleep- it normally takes me at least an hour even when I'm tired. I've found a way to ease myself into sleep slightly easier- i listen to music in order to fall asleep. I don't really want to tell my parents because it will be another thing for them to worry about. Should i just stick with music?

Hey girl! You could have insomnia, but you could also just have a really active mind that takes a while to relax. Mention your concerns to your 'rents and see what they think. It's nothing serious, just get another opinion. Keep listening to the music and see if it gets any better. Also, try to take deep breaths, stop thinking, and relax when you're in bed. This way, you might fall asleep faster. best, Kristen

Well he's definitely interested which is awesome! If he's always staring at you and giving you attention then i suggest you hang out with him as friends and keep getting to know him more and more. if you do that then he'll probably be ready for a relationship with you much faster. I have this, and my best advice is just to be really concious of your posture, and the way that you position your feet. It's difficult at first, but just force yourself to pull your feet the other way. You'll find it becomes easier after a while.

I think my pinky is like that. When I stand up it goes on it's side, but it's only my little toes. Odd.

Hey girl, pigeon-toed is a medical condition that causes toes to point inward while you walk. The good thing about it, though, is that it's usually self-corrected and tends to happen to younger kids.

i have a HUGE problem. so i was best friends with this girl last year and then she ditched me for another girl. this wasn't the first time she swapped bff's (she did the same thing to my friend for me) and then she apologized and i didn't know what to do. then over the summer she did some really bad thingsshe keeps apologizing to me and now she called me tonight and told me everything that she did and how sorry she is. and now she thinks we r bffs again. idk what to do cause idk if i want to be friends again and im afraid that if i tell her no that she will talk about me behind my back and spread some really nasty rumors! what should i do?

Hey girl, sounds like this girl has some things she has to sort out on her own, huh? The best thing you can do is quietly distance yourself from her. Start hanging with your other friends. Don't return all her calls. Just slowly let her know that while you don't mind being polite, you don't want to be BFFs -- and in this case, actions speak louder than words. Remember to remain civil, but don't feel obliged to do everything she asks. She may need a friend right now, but in a bit, she'll catch the drift that her BFF and closest confidante is no longer you.

i'm really scared about getting my midterm grades. i'm in a group with my friend for science, and she got an f on her assessement, and it brought her grade down from an a to a c, so that's probably my grade, too. the assessment was kind of hard. we were working with little robot things, which is really not my strongest area. in reading, i missed a quiz since i missed a day of school (missing school completely throws me off). i said i was going to take it, but i had my heart set on finishing my social studies stuff during lunch and completely forgot about it. algebra is not my strongest subject either, but i've been doing my homework (like 90% of it), but i haven't done too good on a couple of quizzes, like a lot of people. i'm really afraid that my parents will get pissed if i have bad grades. they think i'm soooo smart and have no reason to get anything below a b, and they just can't accept that school isn't supposed to be easy. it's supposed to be a challenge most of the time, and it is for me. oh and also i'm afraid i'll get kicked off volleyball if i don't get c's or higher. grades are finalized tomorrow, what should i do?!?!?!?

Hey girl, I totes know how that feels. I'm an overachiever too and sometimes the work can get a little crazy. However, remember you have limits, girlie. You can only do the best you can. Let your parents know you're putting your full effort in; the classes are just a 'lil harder now. Next semester, try getting a tutor too if you could use a little extra help with that tricky math and science. Teachers are usually more than willing to help you if you come in before or after class with problems and many schools offer free student tutoring services. Just ask the folks in your guidance office for ideas and contacts and they'll hook you up. Happy studying!

I agree that this guy sounds bad for your friend but going behind her back should be an ultimate last resort. The best thing you can do is support her as best you can until she gets into really serious trouble and needs your help. If their relationship gets much more serious you might need to talk to her parents though, or yours.

sorry this isnt a spot for this, but i need help. one of my best friends lives with just her mom. her older sibs moved out and her dad passed away a few months ago. her mom is taking some trips this fall to visit firends in europe and go on some retreats. she asked if she could stay with me during that time, and of course i felt pressured, so i said yes, asked my mom, and now its all set. now she will be living with me next week and another week in early october. i love her and want to help her out, its just that living with me for 2 weeks is alot. i dont know what i will do with her for that long. how can i get some alone time while shes here? what about doing my homework? i dont know what ill do with her on weekends. im just not looking forward to this at all. i see her at school all day (we are 15), and its just alot. i dont know what im going to do. im kinda stresing on all of this. any advice please???

Hey babe,

The most important thing is being there for your friend right now. It won't be any different than having siblings or a roommate, if you know what that's like. You might have a lot of fun together but you'll probably get on each other's nerves a bit more too. Just make sure you have time set aside for both of you to do your homework or be alone if you need it for a bit. It's nothing to stress over. It will just be a few weeks and once it's over everything will go back to normal between you, no matter what happens while she's staying over and she and her family will really appreciate the help.

I'm terrified! All of a sudden, literally, the other night my tummy was on the rounder side (unlike usual). Not just a little, but it's actually really noticable. And my favorite jeans are a tad too tight (though they still fit). The scale tells me I weigh the same but I'm not sure. Could I be getting chubby or am I maybe bloated. I've never had my period but I've had almost all the signs and discharge for like two years. Am I chubby or is it maybe an upcoming pd?!

I think you're just bloating a little bit, maybe because of a period on the way or maybe just because you're retaining water from eating too many salty foods. Cut back on those a bit and make sure you have a pad ready wherever you go and you'll be ready no matter what it is!

LOL. This is the first time I've ever done this MOD thing.
So today I just got my flu shot and then after like an hour when I got back to school, my whole arm started hurting whenever I lifted it off. It doesn't hurt that badly but it feels like someone kicked you there.
I can't remember it happening when I was younger (it happened in my recent flu shots] so I was just wondering what's wrong.
