This year I'm in seventh grade at a magnet school filled with way smarter kids. What if I forgot everything I learned last year and seem really stupid?
I'm SO nervous!
~not so-smart
Hey girl,
I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling super confident about this new academic year. I've gotta say that I'm no stranger to back to school woes but just about every girl AND guy is in the same boat you are right now. It's been a long summer filled with the beach, friends, and maybe even a hottie from the pool...but, babe, there's really not much wrong with that at all.
I know for a fact that your school won't test you on a bunch of info you learned last year and expect you to remember it all. For example, I started school last week and in my advanced placement math class we're doing a bunch of review from last year's material. Our teacher even assumed we had forgotten it all! So there ya have it; teachers don't have some crazy expectations of ya just yet.
Your school sounds competitive and I can relate. But that doesn't mean those other kids are smarter than you are! If you want to feel like you fit in better, then make this your most successful year ever. But I think that your school experience is what you make of it. If you're having fun balancing time with your friends and great teachers and classes, what else could you hope for?
This year is nothing to fret about. Let it be your best one yet and don't let something as silly as nerves get in the way, girlie. I wish you the best of luck!
