I really want to wear a bra. How can I ask my mom if it’s OK?

We know how intimidating it can be to approach your mom about bra shopping, especially if mom still thinks of you as her “little girl.” Some moms have a hard time facing the fact that their daughters are growing up and becoming young women. But the thing is, if you have breasts, you need a bra.

The next time you’re passing through the lingerie section of a department store, casually walk over to the bra section, and say, “Mom, do you think you could help me pick out a bra? I’m starting to feel uncomfortable not wearing one.” If she says, “Yes,” great! If she’s hesitant or says, “No way,” maybe you can ease her into the idea by talking her into letting you start out with a sports bra. Pick up something in the athletic department that will fit nicely under your clothes.

How come all the pretty clothes out there only look good on chesty girls my age? (13) I have small boobs and all the clothes I LIKE are too big for me "up there".

Hey girl! It's funny...another girl just asked the opposite question, Looking for clothes for busty girls! We always want what we don't have ! (if you have straight hair, you probably want curly hair) Don't worry, you can still wear cute clothes and have a small chest. Try shirts that have details on them...ruffles on the front or wear necklaces on top of plain Ts. You can also pull off strapless styles more easily! And halter neck shirts!

Hey babe! Sometimes measuring works, but I usually don't rely on that. It's best to bring in a variety of different styles and sizes of bras into the dressing room. That way you can find out which is most comfortable, supportive, and practical for YOU! You can also see how different styles look under a T-shirt, whether or not there's too much padding, etc. Have fun, and good luck!

I have a small bust with a large build. I so far have had difficulty finding bras that fit correctly. I don't wAnt to Internet shop because I can't try the stuff on. I hate how stores seem to assume that larger women have big boobs. Do you have any tips or should I play frankenbra?

Hey girl, I'd try shopping online. You can always send back sizes you don't fit, but that way you'll def be able to get the size you need -- it'll always be in stock.

So um... whenever me and my mom went shopping and we passed the lingerie section, she just said, "Oh you're way too young" Now I'm in 6th grade and in gym I noticed EVERYONE wears a bra. So I when I went shopping w/ my friend in 7th grade who I'm really close to, I bought a bra and never told my mom. Eventually she found out, but now it feels so awkward to talk about this... what should I do???

I suggest you go to her and let her know you want to start wearing bras. Let her know you feel uncomfortable without one. As long as she knows how you feel, she should listen and let you get bras. Good luck! xoxo kerra

I told my mom I needed under wear then when we were shopping I asked her if I could try on a bra then I bought one. Although I am sticking with my sports bras for now. I'm just waiting to wear it till I'm more comvertable.

Hey girlie! Try going shopping and telling her how cute stuff looks without the bra on! Really encourage her that things look better minus the bra. Try not to do it too much though, she is prob pretty insecure about the issue!

I got my first bra when I was in 4th grade.My breast kind of started to feel sensitive, which is why I had to get one.Likely, you're mom will be understanding!Shopping for your uh, 1st bra may be a little awkward (i know it was for me) but trust me it's worth it.Good luck!

I have a reacurring pimple on the side of my nose, and it recently just went away again, but now the skin is peeling.. What's up with that? And why do I get zits in the exact same spot? ANy way to prevent them? Thanks!

Hey babe, it's prob just an oily or dry spot that causes more pimples than usual. Talk to a dermatologist to get the best treatment advice but until then, just wash with normal face wash twice a day.

And my mom won't let me wear tampons. She says that they are uncomfortable. I'm comfortable in pads, but I feel like you can see the bulky-ness throught your jeans and everything. I do dance, and it is kinda bad when you feel the flow when you stretch and it smells!! HELP!!!!!

Hey girlie! Try talking to you mom. Tampons are totally comfortable and easy. Explain your feelings to her and maybe you guys can come to a compromise!

modmodmodmodmodmod!!! lately, my cousin has been telling me hurtful things, like "So-and-so says you're ugly" and "So-and-so thinks you're fat" and other stuff, and I know that they're not true. My mom thinks it's because she's jealous, but wants me to still like her, so she says that other people say im fat, ugly, ect. but even though i know it's not true, my sheild starts crumbling, and im crying myself to sleep because my now nonexistent self esteem. She's been pulling this stunt a couple times now, and i rather not tell her to stop. So how do i protect myself from her blasts?

You still have plenty of time to grow and until then you can try wearing a push-up bra. Just because you have your period doesn't mean you'll stop growing entirely. You'll probably keep getting taller and fuller for at least another four years.

You can talk to your mom about it when you see her, but in the mean time, it would probably be a good idea to talk to your dad about it. It can be awkward, but since you'll be living with him most of the time, you're going to have to be able to talk to him about these things sooner or later.

Hey girly, doesn't sound fat to me. But "fatness" determines upon your age, height and body. So that may be slim on you but fat on someone else. But as long as you're healthy, you have nothing to worry about.

I started with a sports bra... For the first month it'll seem really weird, but after you have it on for a little while, you get used to it, and it's just like putting a shirt and pants on... Just something you do without even thinking about it. And with your mom, just say: "I think it's time I get a bra"... I'm sure your mom will understand (unless you really don't need one).

Hey girl! Boobs mean you're becoming a woman! You have nothing to be embarrassed about! Boobs are beautiful, fun, and mature. It may take a while for everyone to catch up with you, but eventually all your friends will be in the same boat as you! Enjoy what you have!
