School dress code dilemma

Check these out, too...

I'm going to high school this year and I was so excited to show off all my clothes! But now we have a new superintendent who changed the dress code.

So now we can't wear anything that is higher than four inches above the knee, can't wear tank tops at all and all shirts must cover the shoulder! At my old school our shorts and skirts could be thumb length. I don't know what to do now. Fashion is my life!

That totally stinks! It’s never nice to have a strict dress code, but you can still stay a fierce fashionista. My advice? Don’t sweat it too much. If people can make uniforms fashionable (Hellloooo, Gossip Girl!), you can totally look great even with all the restrictions. To do so…

New takes on old styles

When all of your outfits don’t fit the rules on their own, you gotta mix and match them up differently. An example? If you got a sleeveless tank top, layer it up with a cute, colorful shirt underneath. Does a skirt seem too short? Try on some chic leggings (leggings can count as pants!). There are so many things you could do!

Mix it up

Next, remember that are a lot of fashionable clothes that meet your new dress code. If you’re used to wearing only sleeveless shirts and ultra short shorts/skirts, now’s the time to explore and find clothes that are in-style, but you wouldn't have worn with your old school's rules. Plaid prints, ruffles and over-sized, long tops are big these days and you can find sooo many that will meet your school’s standards.

Stay fashionable...and fierce!

Lastly, don’t let this whole dress code bring you down. Being fashionable is fab, but it all depends on how you carry yourself in what you wear. If you strut down the hallways with confidence, then you’ll look fabulous no matter what. Just keep that in mind and you’ll definitely be the fashionista at your high school!

Youll be fine, our shorts and skirts have to go to our knees, no low cut tops, and no tank tops We cant even wear short skirts with leggings or tights. Im sorry about your dress code switch though!

girl tht stinks, but there r plenty of ways 2 deal. in my school tanks gotta b 2 fingers length. i saw one girl who had a cute plaid spaghetti strap shirt, but she put a white tee shirt under it. it looked cute with jeans and it still met the dress code requirements.i luv fashion 2, believe me, theres always a way 2 make it work.

"thumb-length" skirts are not FASHION in any form. that is called "dressing like a sl*t." i have no idea why you'd be upset. 4 inches above the knee is still pretty short unless you have freakishly long thighs.

Tell me about it! We have about 15 rules! We have to tuck in our shirts, wear a belt. We can't even wear leggings!!! That's my favorite piece of clothing!
Our bottoms can only be three inches above the knee, but they don't really care about that. Our jeans can't be torn, and it goes on. The lunch monitors won't even let us get our lunch if your shirt isn't tucked in! Oh, and no hats either!!!!!
I'm sorry for you!!! Just try to come up with new combos and hairstyles and accessories! Those can spice up any outfit!

I'm sorry, but THUMB LENGTH?!!! That's short enough to be a belt! I'm sorry, but just because fashion is your life, doesn't mean you have to show a bunch of skin. You'll live. A lot of kids have rules exactly like this. I did, I lived with it ever sense I went to school, and I'm sure its not gonna kill ya. Its not a strict code at all ;]

*mumbles... what kinda store sells thumb length skirts anyhow?..* Sorry, chica, I really am not tryna be mean. =] I'm sure you can be SOO fashionable looking with this code, you just gotta improvise! xDDDD SUPER DUPER GOOD LUCK!

Hey girl! They look like black dots (usually on your nose) and whiteheads look like raised pimples with white circular tips at the top. You're lucky if you've never gotten them!

MOD MOD MOD! Help! I get really nervous whenever I have to speak in front of my class and don't look anyone in the eye when I have to speak infront of the class. Tomorrow I have to give a presentation to my language arts class! How can I get over my fear? oh and can you reply on my profile? P.S. This is off subject and don't think I'm stupid or anything but what are blackheads and whiteheads?

Blackheads and whiteheads are different types of acne (pimples) on the skin. (usually on the face)

Try practicing your presentation in front of your siblings or parents first! Or just a good friend! Let them know you're nervous and you need some practice before the real speech!

I was thinking of dying part of my hair blue only a subtle blue not like bright blue because i have black hair and there's nothing in the dress code about how i can't. So if i do will i be suspended even though it doesn't say anything? Plus i heard some girls talking about how they where going to dye the front of their hair red because they thought you can only dye your hair natural colors.i was thinking of getting my ear priced at the very top on the cartalge will it hurt?

That sounds just like the dress code at our school. We can't wear cutoffs or pants with too many holes in them. But you can still be fashionable even with the dress code, just layer shirts under tank tops and wear leggings with skirts and shorts.

ive been thrugh sme tough stuff and i am NOT depressed or addicted to drugs and i do NOT want to use drugs. but is there like a medication or something that can just make the pain seem like less.

Hey babe, just talking about your problems makes a world of difference. We all have things we need to get off our chests so try talking to your school counselor or ask your doc if he/she can recommend a good therapist. From there, the professional can decide if you need a medicine or not but for now, finding someone to talk to is the best first step.

ha u think thats bad? at the begining of the skool yr they sent us a meter with our info. now i cant wear any of my shorts cuz there all in the red and there not that bad. we cant wear haltlers tanktops skirts have to go to our knees. the sleave holes cant b too long and sometimes we cant wear hoodies!evn when its freezing! but i guess uniforms r worse srry guys!

i can't believe u think that that is tough at my school middle and high school you have to wear plaid skirts gray navy blue or white polo shirts that sleeves come down to your elbow and there are no boys i know you think that yours is tough but girlie come on this is a lot worse...ps you have to wear moccasins no flip flops sneakers or heels.

omg you think that skirts not being able to be 4 inches above the knee is bad? at my old school it couldn't be above 2 inches! and we could only wear solid colored polo shirts with no logos for shirts and khakis, or navy blue pants(we could wear skirts if they were navy or khaki).

Mhmm, I'm not sure why it won't let you. You may have to create a whole new profile with the screen name you want.

you'll just have to get cute blazers, jackets, cardigans for your tank tops. that's what we used to have to do. the skirts/dresses/shorts that you can't wear, that's too bad, but if you like the style you could wear tights with some of them (not shorts. lol.)

wow. My school does not have a dress code so were aloud to wear whatever we want as long as its not see through. It has to be "respectable". That is a tough dress code though. You should make the best of this situation. Style off clothes that are in this dress code and look for loopholes.then style of all your other clothes hanging out with your friends on the weekends outside of school. There!Problem solved!

whoa... my school has no jeans, no holes in anything, no hoods of any kind, no sweatpants, etc. plus there's nothing over 4 inches above the knee and bra straps can't be showing AT ALL even if its an accident (which is the only time it's a problem). Girls really do bring out the fashion, though.

2) thats not a bad dress code. at my school its kinda the same. shorts and skirts have to be mid-thigh or arms length,no cleavage, no spaghetti straps, no bra straps showing, and straps have to be at least 2 fingers thick. pretty easy to follow considering that most people dont wear super short shorts and spaghetti straps that often. and my school is a religious school so thats pretty understandable.

wow...what school did u go to? that is the dress code pretty much every school has. sorry girly but that is not strict. last year we had a jerky dean of students and we weren't allowed to have ANY holes in our pants....none at all. if fashion is ya life then ya should know there are Many ways to be fashionable. not just short clothes.

I have to wear pants that are finger tip and they can only be tan(khaki), green, blue, navy, pink, and sumtin else and denim only on friday.collared solid color polos it stinx.
