Nickelodeon’s The N is now TeenNick and it’s bringing back one of our fave shows. A new season of the award-winning teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation premieres this Friday, Oct. 9, with an hour-long special tackling the startling world of drug abuse.

The premiere, titled “Just Can’t Get Enough,” focuses on Mia (played by Nina Dobrev) as she’s offered a modeling contract in Paris. Peter (Jamie Johnston) decides to go with her, but quickly realizes he doesn't fit into the sophisticated world, turning towards drugs as an escape. When the experience goes terribly wrong, Peter swears he’ll never touch drugs again. But the addiction seems to be tougher to battle than he had thought.

In support of tackling such a serious issue in the season’s opener, TeenNick collaborated with the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to air a new public service announcement starring Jamie Johnston, directing viewers to the NIDA website to find information about the harmful effects of drugs and where to get help.

The new season of Degrassi also introduces some new students into the mix. Declan (played by Landon Liboiron) and Fiona (Annie Clark) are siblings from a diplomatic family. And then there’s musically-gifted Jenna (Jessica Tyler), who causes tension between Alli (Melinda Shankar) and BFF Clare (Aislinn Paul) in the season opener, and Dave (Jahmil French).

I liked Degrassi until they took JT off. *tear* It's still good though.

I also think GL should do a weekly review of Lifetime's "Project Runway" and "Models of the Runway". That would be neat.

Hey chica, nope Teen Nick and Nick at Nite are two different things. Teen Nick includes shows that are aimed towards kids 13 and up, while Nick at Nite shows older television shows like Roseanne. Teen Nick usually comes on during the day, so keep a watch out for it.

I love Degrassi and some of my friends are obsessed with the show sort of like I am. I think its great they are talking and stressing about not doing drugs. Drugs are not kool.

My mom didnt want me watching it at first because she thought some of the stuff they talked about and showed was inappro for my age like the one where they showed the pump thing that guys use on their down there part. But now she is fine with the show, and now the anti drug message, she will think that is great.

I absolutely love and is OBSESSED with Degrassi!!! I love love love SPINNER(Shane Kippel)...I totally had a crush on him since the first episode when he was like emo mohawk punk. I also thought that JT was suchhh a cutie but then he got stabbbed in that one 'sode at the party....Aww man I cried at that episode...But yes, Spinner is definetly my fave character=)

I'm thinking that last season probably should have stayed that last - all of the original characters are gone. I miss JT and the old Ashley - the season 1 Ashley!!! Though I love Clare and KC - it's too bad so many characters are going to other shows. This is Mia's last - too bad!

So this is a really random question, but I like this one guy and I've been trying to chat him up as we walk to our next class together at school. The one day he asked me if I was in his Chemistry class, after about 5 weeks of school, while we were walking to Chemistry. It took him a whole 20 seconds to realize that I was and I felt really invisible. Is this guy just clueless or what? I also wanted to go to homecoming with him and my friends dropped a whole bunch of hints and he never even mentioned it. I just feel really frustrated and like I'm totally invisible. Do you know what could be going on with him?

Hey girl! Most of the time guys don't really notice the little hints, he probably just wasn't paying attention, which is normal. You just need to go out of your way to talk to him more so that he will start to get to know you.
