I have odd flaky stuff all over my scalp, kind of like dandruff. If I pick at it, it bleeds.

It can really be annoying and embarrassing.

Just about everybody has an occasional snow drift, but according to Dr. Erin M. Welch, assistant professor of dermatology, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, some people have more extreme conditions, like seborrheic dermatitis, which involves extensive flaking.

Another common condition is psoriasis, which can cause flaky, irritated skin. If you’ve tried over-the-counter dandruff shampoos (like Selsun Blue), and haven’t seen an improvement, go to a dermo for a prescription shampoo or med. You can shake the flakes!

I get bad dandruff bad too. And i get those spots on my face if i pick at them they bleed alot i have one on my ear one right under my right eybrow one on the side of my left eyebrow and one right in the middle of my forhead then one right under my hairline one on the back on my head. It really annoying i use A & D ointment but i can only putit on at night is there anything else i could use i also have gone to a dementologist and he gave me a prescrition but it didnt work...

Hey babe, if the prescription the dermatologist didn't work, you should go back to him or her and tell him/her what happened when you used the prescription. Then he/she may prescribe something stronger that will have better effects!

OK I have a few problems
1) I have been sweating like a pig this year! I haven't got my period yet or nothing.
2)I having this annoying cramps "there." It isn't gas (I empty it out near people that bother me :] LOL)and its not because I hav 2 pee.
3) what haircut would you reccomend for a girl that needs a low maintenence do that gives volume. BTW IM not willing to chop off alot of hair. we are close. it'd be like chopping off by bff!!
4)I need to lose some weight, problemo is, I LOVE FOOD! I love to eat it, and make...and talk about it. I will exercise if I need to, I don't want to be a blubber belly!!
5) My sister irrationally hates my bff, and im a twin, it's some tough stuff! I also have an e-friend my sister likes and she always defends her, not the girl she shares almost the same DNA w/, go figure!

Hey let's take this one-by-one. 1) Try using some deodorant. Prescription off-the-counter deodorant will help you and you can get it at any drug store. 2) Sounds like you may be getting close to your period. The thing to do is to tough 'em out but if they hurt too much don't be afraid to ask your mom about taking a bit of Advil for painful days. 3) Try getting long layers with your hair. It'll give you a lift and you can do any length you'd like. 4) Everything in moderation: you can def have food, just go for healthy choices and exercise too. See the healthy recipe section on GL for some good ideas! 5) Try hearing your sis out about why she hates your BFF. It may be hard, but it's important you hear her side of the story too. If there's a prob between your sis and BFF, you may be abel to help 'em solve it. As for the e-friend? I know it may be hard, but shrug it off for now. In the end you'll find it's just little things.

I use leave-in conditioner and it left all this residue so I stopped using it recently. And i only condition the ends of my hair with the wash-off conditioner. But the residue is STILL there, it gross. I know there's shampoo for it but I cant find it anywhere. HELP?

Hey girlie,

Try switching brands of shampoo for a little while or even one of those "clarifying" shampoos. Sometimes residue will build up after using the same product for too long.

You should talk to your doctor about medication or cream that will help you get rid of your eczema breakouts. Covering it up with makeup or cover up will just aggravate your skin.

i've had a sore throat and cough and stuffy nose for 10 days, i've been exhausted for about two days, and my temp has not been above 97.4 or something like that in a week or so. my temp right now is 96.5.

I have wavy hair. It's pretty, but I like to straighten it sometimes. I have a good straighener, but my hair never stays straightened for longer than 1 hour. Is there any sprays or anything I can use, or is that just how my hair is?

Hey babe,

There are different products you can buy that should help to keep your hair straighter for longer. Applying a straightening gel or mousse to your hair when it's damp may help. TreSemme, Paul Mitchell and John Freida all have pretty good products. To keep the frizz away John Freida's serum is a little pricey, but works wonders. Be sure to use a heat protector on your hair before you straighten (TreSemme makes a great one).

Hey girl! Glad you like the glitter and hair tips! If you can't get a long dress, you can try wearing a shorter one with leggings or tights. Hey girl! Since it's cold out, try wearing a long dress to cover up your legs. Wear leggings or tights underneath since no one can see them. For your arms, wear a shawl or crop jacket to cover you up a bit. I'm not sure how to make your skin "glow." You can try using body glitter to add a little bit of sparkle. For your costume, loose curls or waves in your hair with some smokey eye make up will really add a punch. Have fun! Kristen

MOD!! help me. i have the worst period ever. i got it the first time in november 2008, and i got it every month since. Here;s the thing, though, i had it for six weeks straight before, and then i just stopped counting after that because it just got so annoying. I also get terribly painful cramps. i've told my mom and she wants to see if it regulates by this november. I want to see a doctor, but i dont. it just seems so awkward.

Try using a hotter water temp. It will help dry out your scalp a little bit. Also, shampoos with tea in them work the best for controlling oil problems!

Hey girl, believe me when I say I have lots of friends in college who still have never been kissed. They just haven't found the right person and it's no big deal.
