My mom wants to talk to me about tampons, boys, sex and other embarrassing stuff. We have a great health class in school, and the teachers cover everything.

I don’t want to talk about these topics with my mom. How do I get her to stop?

It’s truly great that your mom wants to talk about this stuff because then you know that if you ever want—or need—to go to her about anything, you can. If you don’t want to chat about tampons and boys in everyday conversation, though, tell her that. Let her know you appreciate her openness but that it makes you uncomfortable when she brings this stuff up.

Tell her you’re learning about these things in school and that you’re glad you can go to her if you have any questions or need to fill in any blanks. You might want to throw in that maybe you’ll become more at ease talking about such topics with her once she lets you bring them up.

Hey girl! I'm sorry you're feeling this way. Being homeschooled makes it difficult to get out there and meet new people. See if your mom will let you join some community groups, like dancing or crafts- that's a great way of meeting new people. If your friend is making you this upset, she's not really a friend, so you might be right in wanting to cut her out of your life. Your mom really has no say in who you like and what you want to do when it comes to friends. Good luck!

Hey babe, math can be hard so I bet you're not the only one with trouble in your class. Talk to your teacher and let him/her know what's going on. Teachers really do want to be able to help so maybe he.she can explain it to you again or give you some extra problems to work out. Talk to your 'rents about it too.

My best friend ditches me for all the guys. Shes my only best friend and we have been through so much. I talked to her about it seriously plenty of times. But she still does it. It hurts. Its like everything we did together was a waste and it was pointless. And also shes becoming one of those girls who needs attention from guys. What am i supposed to do? I talked to her about that too. I feel like I'm done. if She keeps doing it then whats the point right? She's always surrounded by boys.

Heyy girl. It may be awkward, but at least she's trying. I know some of my friend's moms never do that. Like they found out what a period was when they got it. If it gets too awkward change the subject. Other than that, I feel for ya. Best of luck. <3

Hey girly, the best way to tell her, is to just tell her. How will she know if you don't say something? You don't have to be mean, but just let her know you're a little uncomfortable with talking about him. I'm sure she'll understand.

Hey girly, everyone gets their period when the time is right for them. So some get theirs when they're really young, others get theirs when they're a little older. So yours will come when your bod is ready for it, so no worries. Just stay prepared by reading up on periods and having some handy pads near.

Youre right that before he can like you, he has to know you. Arrange for you and he and that friend you both have to hang out sometime. Then, youll have a "buffer" and be able to learn what you have in common. And then you can talk to him about that! Best, Miliana

That sounds just like my mom. Sometimes she shocks me with what she says. Not to long ago she made me watch this show on tv and online that was about teens and having and it covered everything from to what we do in private by ourselves. It made me feel awkward but then I realized she was just trying to make me feel like I could talk to her about everything.
And our moms did go through having, using tampons and liking boys way before we did. But I still feel awkward about some things, I guess its just because I dont want to to know everything that I am thinking about. But I think thats natural. Eryn G.
