Choosing between schools AND choosing between friends?!

 

I don't know which high school I want to go to next year because one of my very best friends is going to one school while my other bestie is going to the other high school! I have the option to choose.


I don't want to pick between my two best friends. Help!


Hey girl,

It can be way hard when you’re making a big decision like which school to go to. High school, college, or beyond, these are decisions that’ll influence more than just who you see each day—they'll influence where you go in the future. That’s why, girlie, it’s way important that you weigh each option out carefully. It can seem like you’re choosing between your besties, but the truth is, you’ve gotta choose what’s best for you.


Pros and cons
 

When choosing a school, don’t sweat about which gal is going to be there. Think about what school has the best program for you. Is High School A way strong in math and science? If that’s where you see yourself in the future, go for that school. Does High School B have an awesome lax team you want to join? Go for the gold there! Make a pro/con list for each and weigh your options—also if one choice is a private school, keep the price tag in mind: is it worth it? When it comes to big decisions like this, grab a li'l extra help too from your fave tutors: your ‘rents. They’ll know how to help you pick the school that’s best for you.

And here’s the biggest lesson of all, chica: You should pick your school for you, not for your friends. Back when my friends were choosing where to go for college (years away for you!), I would always tell them not to choose their school based off where their BFs were going. Their choice should depend on what’s right for them and their future. The BF, even if he was states away, was way easy to stay in touch with: there’s Skype, Facebook, texting, etc. And if they didn’t last? Then they were still at the places that were the best fit for themselves. So what’s the tie-in to you? Well, your friends are close by, and if they can make it work, so can you! You won’t be crossing state-lines so no matter where you go, you can still keep and see both of your pals. Try getting involved in a community sport together. Have a slumber party each weekend. Just ‘cause schools divide you during the day doesn’t mean it can’t add up to weekend fun and friendships that last forever!


In high school, girlie, you’re going to meet tons of new people. While it’s totes okay to keep the old ones at heart, don’t sweat the distance ‘cause they can and always will be a part of your life. This choice, girl? It’s the ultimate test but you can ace it. What’s best for you? What do you want to do in high school and beyond? Where do you see yourself fitting in best? Go with what your heart tells you. Good luck!

ya so i am totaly torn between picking a high school and my one best friends is a grade older than me and she already goes 2 school A and i feel pressured 2 go 2 that school since up till now was have always talked about going to same high school and carpooling ans stuff but now my other best friend is going to school B and i am having trouble deciding which school is the right one for me. i know that i should not worry about whats friends are at the school but i am just overall stressed by having to pick a new school to go 2 all together. Help, I don't think i can handle all this stress of school.
1st quarter has just ended ,but I ended up getting bad grades in almost all my classes due to being absent a lot. The school said not to worry ,but now it seems they are saying otherwise.Frown
I tried making up my assignments ,but my teachers were confusing and some stuff was too hard to get done on time. Social Studies, I couldn't find out what I was missing. Science my teacher seems to hate me is way too confusing and wouldn't let me turn in absent work. Honors English, there are a lot of assignments given each day so to finish all of them seems impossible.
Anyway, what should I do?







Hey girl! Just take a deep breath...... ok, you good? Now, remember grades aren't everything and there will be a way to make up the bad grades you got. You have to take each assignment and focus completely on that. Forget about all the other assignments you have or you will get really stressed. Just take each assignment by itself. Slowly, but surely you will get it done. Good luck!

MOD! MOD! MOD! I need help! So there used to be this one girl at my school, she was really pretty and really nice. She was nice to everyone. She also had a beautiful singing voice. But she was dealing with some family problems. Her mother died when she was young because of drug abuse, and her father was arrested for something. She didn't like staying with her aunt and uncle and she was sorta a tomboy so not a lot of the girls liked her. So she hung out with guys. And she always tried to be good in class so much it got annoying so not a lot of teachers liked her either. She began cutting herself and all that. A kid even spread a really mean rumor that she was pregnant. Over the summer she went to visit cousins or someone in Indiana. Well she doesn't want to leave because she didn't like it here and everyone was mean to her. Well I feel sorta bad for not really being a friend to her. She was really nice and had a real good singing voice but the other day I heard someone talking about her saying she sang like a dead donkey. I felt really bad for her and I was really glad she wasn't here to hear that. I feel bad for not doing anything. What should I do?

 

Hey girl!  If you see her again or have contact info, you can always talk to her and let her know that you're sorry you weren't more of a friend to her.  But if she's not coming back, that won't make things any better for her.  Don't feel guilty about it, but take this as a learning opportunity for the future.  Every deserves a friend, and no one likes being teased or made fun of.  If you see someone being bullied or mistreated, stand up for them or atleast offer a friendly hand.  Best, Kristen

Okay so I'm the kind of person who is a major procrastinator like i did this huge project on George Washington in a day. Ya not very bright i know but we have this HUGE project in school like one that lasts for a couple months and i really want to win. If we win then we get a whole day out of school and maybe go on to the next level if we win that. I told my friend i didn't want to work with her because i work best by myself when i make all the decisions (but i didn't tell her that). So now she's working with this girl who hates me but it doesn't bother me but she really rude and mean. She always pushes me and stuff she "apologizes" but i can tell she doesn't mean it. I think she copied my question so now I'm ticked off cause my friend said she didn't want to do anything with the environment but they are(my friend came up with the question)!!! Plus my friend said the girl isn't doing any work and she is the same girl that was really mean to her and stopped being her friend to be friends with the 'popular' girls. And I want to be friends with this girl who is nice but socially awkward but she said some really mean things to my friend like go to a place and MAYBE hacked her email but i don't believe my friend. My friend told my other friend i wanted to be friends with her but she is really nice and i hate how the same friend that I'm not working on the project with and told me not to friends with the nice girl talks about how stupid and weird other people are. It's like just because she's all tag doesn't mean she's better than them. She always calls me stupid when I'm smarter than she is but i don't exactly test in school well and don't have a lot of common sense but i scored in the 99 precential on the CRCT! Also she pinches me and slaps me when I'm not listening to her like this one time we where walking in the hallway and she keep leaning against me like pushing her arm against my arm and shouting in my ear. I pushed her away and moved and she ask why i was being so touchy. My nice friend and I made up this thing about how we are vampires and that on Halloween we going to go in our not disguise so we sort of left our drama friend out of our little story and she wouldn't talk to us for the rest of the day because she tried to join our story but we keep coming up with stuff so she couldn't (I mean it was our story first!). So now she going trick or canning(we're asking for canned goods instead of candy because we're donating them to my nice friends church) with us but she didn't even ask us if she could, she just made herself a part of trick or canning! She keeps saying we should go in her neighborhood but i don't even want her to be a part of the trick or canning me and my friend came up with it not her and she's totally taking over! She says she knows everyone in her neighborhood but i doubt it she just wants to be in her neighborhood. The only reason I'm her friend is so my nice friend doesn't have to caught in the middle. I'm sorry for the really long post but i don't know what to do!

Hi, I have a friendship prob!
I have two best friends who fight over me all the time. But that isn't the problem anymore. i don't know anymore if one my friends have the values of friendship. She ditched me after school, becuase the late bus home..makes her walk further..and so she left me..wen she was supposed to help me w/ science after skool, she even promised. And i was absent for a week. Then 2 days later...she stayed with me....only becuz our fav teacher offered to let us hang out in his room after school. (I had to make up a spanish quiz, so i was after skool anyways) She suddenly forgets about how she has to walk home after school even though its raining...and decides to stay with me..only becuz of this teacher. And it makes me feel bad, becuase she didn't stay after skool to help me , but she stayed so we cud b in his room. And in science..i needed to get the study packet notes...and she wudn't give me hers,! even the teacher told me to get the notes from her. And i just asked a random person, for the packet then...and he gave it to me! it hurt me that my bff didn't give me the notes, but a random boy did. I was super mad, and it seems like she doesn't care..her IM replies just say "I prolly shudn't have." everytime i try to say something..so idk if she even cares. What should i do, i'm super mad at her. Should I let go? or what?




Let your friend know how you feel. Let her know that you don't appreciate how she forgets her promises to you and how she wont help you. Let her know that a real friend would help. Give her a chance to apologize and let her know that you don't want it to happen again. Good luck! xoxo kerra

I want to get into volunteer work with mentally challenged kids but I dont know how. My BGF has an 8 yr old brother who is severly autistic and even though he loves him he doesnt really want people to know because he has been made fun of for having a "retarded" brother by some of the popular kids. i think its really sad and i want to do good things for the community and also help my friend understand that people do care.

MOD MOD MOD!! Between the two schools that I have been to,had been placed in the 'A list'. I have never cared about being popular or unpopular but that was just how it was. Last night, I was reading peoples comments on their hotmail pages and a girl from one of my classes talked to her friend about how she hated all the people who think they are so popular and cool. She included me and some of my friends and I was in capital letters. I am super upset about this and don't know how to react to it. Help?

Maybe this girl feels hurt because she is left out. Maybe she is unhappy in her circle of friends. Talking about you behind your back is harsh though. If you'd like, you can pull her aside and talk to her privately and say that her webpage really hurt you and that you don't try to be popular, you just have friends who are in a certain group.

i had that problem to!my best friend now goes to a different high school than me, because i felt that the high school i currently go to was a better fit for me and my needs.one of my other best friends also came with me to my school.it's funny though, because i am spending more time with my best friend than i have in a really long time.we've actually grown even closer through being seperated.i am so happy i chose the school that i did because i absolutely love it.just make sure you research both schools and figure out which one seems more you.it will pay off in the end!

Hey, I would def talk to a professional hair dresser before you do anything drastic like that. You're probably safe with a semi-perm. but I'd ask just to be sure you're not doing anything to damage your hair.

Check which school has more benefits that sound good to you. Whatever school you choose, stay in touch with your other BFF. Another option is to go to a totally different school then both of them. Then they neither of them will feel left out. Just stay friends!

I really like my school counsellor and she's been helping me since june for some hard issues. She's leaving for a different school in a couple months and I'm so sad because the schools way in the south of my city so I wouldn't be able to go see her at the school but Do you think maybe I'd be able to meet up with her to have counsellin sessions with her or hang out? I really want to talk to my crush this year. I have liked him for so long but whenever I try to talk to him, I chicken out and get tongue tied and can never find anything to say. Hey girl, just try being casual. Ask about something small -- a class maybe -- and let the convo go from there. Try to think of him as just another guy and stick to being friends right now. He doesn't have to know you like him yet. Get to know him and let him know you and go from there. When it comes to talking to your crush, it's just taking the plunge. It only takes one push, girlie, but it makes all the difference.

i need some help. ive really liked my guy friend for a while since school started... well not too long ago i started hanging out with him more despite the fact that he liked one of my friends. i did something kinda stupid that i regretted- and started hanging out with him WAY more. (maybe more than i should) i think it kinda freaked him out, and he got to where he wouldnt look over at me anymore, not to mention it felt like he totally avoided me.... (and i avoided him too like when i saw him i wouldnt say anything at all...)well see when i talked to him (before it felt like he was avoiding me) i was the one who always started the convo ALL OF THE TIME!!!!! well last week he asked my bff if i was mad at him because i wasnt talking to him anymore... and she said no... but the fact is that today he started looking over at me again, and he sat next to me at lunch... and BEFORE he would flirt with me, and i thought he might have liked me.... but when i would talk to him he would look away and mess with his phone or look bored... should i keep trying to make this work because i really like him, or should i forget and move on??? and the thing is was that i was gonna ask him to homecoming, but idk if i should now. i mean if he is going to act like he doesnt want to be around me, then why should i ask him, right? im sorry this is so long but i really need a good honest opinion on this. oh and by the way he is not the type of guy to "wear" his feelings on his sleeve. he is actually really shy. oh! and lastly, should i ask him why he thought i was mad at him? please help me!!! and be TOTALLY honest!!! thank you sooooo much! Hey girl, I actually just went through a similar sitch so I def know what that's like. Sometimes it's easy to get close to someone way too fast for your own good. When that happens, the best thing you can do is take a step back and take a break. It sounds like there's a lot of confusion going on between the both of you, and it's easy to clear up -- one of you just has to speak up. I generally as a rule of thumb let the guy contact me if he wants to talk. Relationships shouldn't be one-way, and you have every right to have mixed feelings about this dude. As for asking him out? I wouldn't get too attached to him. Talk to him a bit to figure out where you are. He's a shy guy, so maybe there's something more there. And if there's not? Don't sweat it. There will be tons of guys at that Homecoming dance and I can promise you they won't be the type to leave you hanging. Be prepared to move on but still how much of a spark is left because who knows?
