What's up with my dad's behavior?

 

Every time my mom leaves the house, my dad has video conferences with another woman. He always says how comfortable he feels around her and how much he loves her. I JUST CAN'T STAND IT!


I miss how my mom and my dad loved each other. He doesn't even wear his wedding ring anymore because he says it's "too small.”


Please help me!

I’m so sorry that you have to go through this really tough situation. Don’t let this bring you down, 'case it's totally not your fault.


Come clean with mom and dad

First of all, you should really write an honest, open letter to your dad. Let him know that what he's doing is hurting you. Tell him what you’re going through so he can realize that his actions just don’t affect him. But leave the judging or anger out. Simply let him reflect on how his behavior is affecting you.


Next, confront your mom. It might not be your place to mention what your dad is doing because that’s something your 'rents have to work out. However, tell your mama that you think she should talk to your pops.


Let it out and don't lose hope

Lastly, don’t lose your hope. If you're feeling sad, call your BFF and vent it out or write everything you're feeling in a journal. Whether or not you can take control of the situation, we don’t know. What you do know is that both of your parents will love you regardless of what happens. Your dad’s behavior isn’t something you should overlook, but I can promise you that there is a silver lining for everything and you WILL get through this.

If my dad was doing that i wouldn't be afraid 2 show my intense anger i would probably start screaming the thought of my dad doing that just made me very angry but I'm sure he never will.... atleast i sure hope so.

That's just sad and horrible, mostly for you and maybe your mom. Does she know about it or the reason he does it whe she leaves is because she's not aware of it? You should talk to him and inform our mom about it when he's not around, although it's mostly his buisness to tell her.

Hey chica, try talking to your 'rents again. Let them know that it really bothers you that your brother treats you this way. While you're in the house with him, try your best to stay away from him. Go in your room, close your door and do your own thing.

Ok so recently i have been having a problem lately. ok so you know how pretty much all children go through that phase where they get sad and scared of their parents and family dying. well i had that like 5 years ago when i was 7. but for some reason alot recently, i have been scared of my parents dying later on in life. i am 12 years old and they aren't old either. i'm also scared of my brother and sister dying. i don't want to lose my family. when i think about them dying and then i look at a picture of them i start crying. i think this is happening because about a month and a half ago we lost someone in our family. and about two years ago my grandmother died. i think that i feel like i'm losing them because my brother is in college and this is my sister's senior year in high school and my mom and dad are 39 and 40 so they still have a lot of time. i just need help to get through this because every time i think about them dying i start to cry... alot. can you help me?




Hey girl, I'm so sorry about your losses. Death's a really hard thing to go through. The way to look at it though? Cherish each day you have with them. Know that they'll always be a part of your life and right now, they're here with you. Don't look at the end but look at now and enjoy every moment of it. Your 'rents will be around for a lot longer, girlie, no worries. And your bro and sis? They may be going off to school, but they're only a phone call away. Be optimistic and live for today, not for tomorrow.

I think my dad doesnt like me. He takes my cell phone away for stupid reasons. I got it taken away for a week because I told him to shutup after I have told him to stop making fun of me. He makes me do extra chores when my brother and sister have 10 minutes of chore when I have 20 min. My brother can curse and even say the subsitute f word and he doesnt get anything taken away. It really destroys me inside when he takes it away. PLEASE HELP




 Hey babe,

I'm sorry that you're feeling this way right now, but I'm sure that it's not that your dad doesn't like you.  By taking your phone away he is trying to discipline you.  He knows how important your phone is to you and that's why he uses it as a punishment.  If you feel that your father's rules and chores are unequally divided between you and your siblings then I would recommend speaking to him about this.  Tell him why you feel that he is being unfair.  He may not agree with you, but it is important to see the issue from his point of view too.  Good luck

So we would just go up to eachother and be like , soo wats up , or sumthing like that. What if AFTER i talked to him about that im sorry and give hima hug , what if i said " i would kiss you on the cheek but i dont know if you would want that" and then what if hes like "oh i wouldnt mind" then i would be like , ok, and then kiss him. does sound weird?

 

No, that's not wierd at all. Maybe instead of going right in for a kiss, why don't you ask him to hang out with you, like a date. Then maybe on the date you could plant one on him.

Hey chicky, Miliana signed off and I know she was helping you with your sitch. But here's my advice.  Maybe you can ask if he wants to play with you during recess. Sounds like they are growing apart. Sometimes parents do this, mine did. Try talking to both of them together and straighten things out. Even though he feels comfortable around this woman, he shouldn't be doing this when he is married and doesn't know this person in real life.

That sounds wrong in so many ways.

Does your mom know anything about it and does your dad do that in the open in front of you? That would just hurt me if my dad was doing that behind my moms back.

You need to talk to them but I am not sure how, but it sounds like the advice is good.

I feel really safe around my school counsellor and she's like my role model. I look up to her and she's helping me with some really hard times. The thing is, in a couple months she's leaving my school and I'm devestated because I'll never see her again unless I meet up with her and have counselling sessions or something, but I don't even know if thats possible. I'm really going to miss her, she's the nicest person I know. Please help Mod!!!
