Me and the Wall of Interns.
Hey chicas! My name is Olivia, and I'm an intern at here at Girls' Life. I’ve grown up in Baltimore and have always loved GL.
This year I've had the amazing opportunity to fulfill my dream and intern at the magazine. Better yet, real issues like health and the news have always been important to me, and my position here allows my voice to be heard.
I heart being healthy!
I have always had a super healthy family. Both my mom and dad were in the gym and fitness business for a long time, so since I could walk and talk they’ve stressed that good habits are important. Unfortunately, we're growing up in a time where there are many temptations—sugary foods, video games and TV—that can distract us from eating healthy and exercising.
Since I’ve started at Girls' Life, I’ve worked on many assignments that let me stress to you ladies how important it is to take care of your bodies. GL’s Healthy You Program is great and I can’t get enough of it! I love coming up with new, fun exercises that you guys can try.
Having fun trying new things.
Exercise for me is all about having a good time. That’s why I don’t
play your typical sports—dance and surfing are my faves. This summer I
was constantly hitting the shore to surf and for many years I took jazz
and hip hop dance. Dance is so much fun that I forget I’m even
exercising. Yep, dancing around your room is super healthy. Surfing is
harder, but also a great time. I’m still learning and it takes time to
get really good. But I absolutely love it.
And about a year ago I became a semi-vegetarian. Basically I won’t eat red meat but you can always catch me eating peanut butter, because when you don’t eat red meat you need another source of protein. I usually exercise about three days a week and I always try new stuff so I can write about it for you girlies.
Giving back to you girlies makes me happy
I'm a big promoter of peace, love and living healthy
Coming up with Daily Motivators is one of my main jobs here at
GL. (Psst! Check ‘em out
RIGHT HERE!). I love coming up with ideas that can boost someone’s energy, mind or workout. Whether it is a motivational bracelet or doing a nice thing for someone else, letting people know you care and being able to do good gives me a great feeling.
Being an all around healthy and isn’t always easy, so I’m glad I get to help you girlies reach your goals. My assignments with the Healthy You Program are awesome because I really feel like I’m helping you get healthy. I truly am lucky, I have def fulfilled my dream.
