Between homework and extracurrics, it can be tough to squeeze in time to breathe, let alone a major workout. That's why we've compiled our best-ever fast, fit and fun tips so you can feel amazing in just a few minutes a day. Plus, we're dishing on nutritious, on-the-go snacks to gobble and easy ideas that'll keep you fit during the holidays. Yep, sharing up this fall is gonna be a breeze!
 
Week 1: Get Creative with your Healthy Routine
 
EATS Make DIY versions of microwaveable b-fasts or snacks. Freeze Sunday's banana pancakes. Fill a wheat wrap with veggies and cheese. Then nuke as needed. Good things don't always come in packages.
EXERCISE Do spend 20 minutes three times a week getting your heart pumping, but don't confine yourself to just sports or jogging. Dance, play Wii Fit, whatever you enjoy. With a five-minute warm-up and cool-down, you only have to push it for 10. Doable, right?

hey! okay, so, im 13 years old, 5' 1" and i usually weigh 95 pounds, but i just gained 10 pounds really quickly! so now im 5' 1" and 105 pounds. i dont look fat, but i was wondering if it was a healthy weight! thanks mod, i luv ya!




Girl do not worry at all! You are totally healthy. As long as you are eating healthy and getting exercise then don't focus on the number. All that matters is how you feel!

MOD-I have an insanely slow metabolism how do I make it faster so I can eat more foods without feeling guilty afterwords?!

 

 

Hi babes, there isn't much you can do to change your body chemistry. I think that if you start working out  ( a few hours of cardio a week) you will speed it up and you will NEED to eat more to keep your body in top shape. xo JANA

MOD If I don't eat a good breakfast in the morning, my stomach rumbles really loud at school before lunch starts! (and lunch starts really late at my school). do you have any breakfast ideas that are FAST and easy, I don't have that much time in the morning either...thanks! you're a lifesaver.

hey! i haven't done this before, but i have a question. i am 12 1/2 years old. i look like i'm 14. guys keep mistaking me for a junior in HIGH SCHOOL, ever since the 6 th grade. i'm 130 lbs, but i'm really super tall and have a huge butt, huge chest, and i'm suuupperr uncomfortable. i've learned to deal w/ being more mature, but lately i'm really self-conscious. i'm 5'6" and i have been maturing REALLY fast. am i overweight? i eat healthy too, and excersise for hours every other day, but i'm confused. my bff keeps calling me obeise, even though i am pretty and my stoumach is flat, but my BMI say's i'm perfectly normal, and should gain about a pound. please help, i'm not really like obsessive or anything, but MOD's seem to be the best answer. thank you!

Hey girl, I'm not a doctor who knows your physically health history, but 5'6'' and 130 pounds is DEFINITELY NOT obese. It actually sounds like you'd be skinny to me. Don't let your "friend," who doesn't seem to be very nice by the way, influence the way you think and feel about your weight. As long as your are getting exercise, eating healthy and your doctor doesn't mention problems with your weight, you're perfect!

MOD- I don't know if I'm eating too much...today... Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 pieces of wheat free toast one with jam, 1 sausage,/snacks at skl: 2 licorice, tortito chips/ home: cereal, ice cream, root beer./ and my rent's may be making dinner...

 

Hey girl! Sounds like you're eating the right amount! You could try switching some things out for healthier alternatives like fruit or veggies.

Hey MOD. I know it doesn't matter what everyone else is like or what they weigh, but I would like to know. What is the average weight for 14 year olds? I'm about 5'4", and I weigh around 106-107 pounds. Is this ok? I try running a mile every day. Are there any other tricks to help flatten my belly? I know it doesn't matter, but still... Thanks a ton!

Hey girl, first of all, your body is beautiful. You should focus on being healthy (and our GL program is a great start!), not trying to lose a magic number of pounds. Relax a bit. If you're exercising and eating healthy, don't sweat your legs. Your legs and body is uniquely Y-O-U and growing. Embrace it.

Hey girl! Cereal, oatmeal, eggs, egg sandwiches with cheese and ham, egg burritos (egg in a tortilla with cheese and salsa)... eat anything that appeals to you. Just make sure you eat breakfast!

Hey Girly,

Snacking on healthy food over junk food is a good start and eating smaller portions more continuously over the day has been proven to help the metabolism, but snacking can be a bad habit.  Try to cut down on munching when you're doing it just because your bored.  Eat healthy and when you're hungry and this should help your snacking.  To have an overall healthier lifestyle it may be a good idea to also start working out.  Working out will boost your energy, curb your hunger and make you feel better on the inside and out.  Start with walking, jogging or yoga.  Good luck!

So before I started wearing makeup I looked painfully young too, so trust me I can give you some advice!  While it may be annoying now, take pride in the fact that you look young, as you get older you will really appreciate your youthful looks.  Wearing your hair down will not only help to show it off, but will also help to make you look older.  If your parents allow you, you can also dab on some lip-gloss that may help to make you look more mature.  It sounds like you can do almost anything with your hair luckyy- so do it.  Some days wear it straight and other days wear it wavy or scrunched.  You can play up your hair with braids in the front, clips or cute headbands.  Look at pics of Blair and Serena on Gossip Girl to get some fun ideas!

I need to lose a little weight. i'm not overweight but most of my friends my age are like 90-95 lbs. and i'm 103 i just need to lose like 5 pounds and slim my thighs and butt and flatten my stomach. Hey Girly!


You don't have to feel like you need to shed pounds just because you're at a different weight than the other girls you know.  We're all different and that's totally normal!  Now if you want to change your lifestyle to be more healthy overall, that's a great idea for anyone and will make you feel better both inside and out.  To get started you will have to begin eating healthier...no one really likes veggies and fruit as much as junk, but the long term benefits of a healthy diet are really important.  For breakfast try grapefruit sprinkled with a little sugar or put strawberries or blueberries in your cereal.  Give whole wheat and multi-grain products a chance- once you get used to the change they're not so bad! For fitness grab your bff and set some goals.  Having a partner will help you stick to your routine.  You can start by walking around your neighborhood or following a beginner's yoga video.  Jogging and pilates are also great ways to get in shape! Good luck and remember it's about a healthy lifestyle- you're beautiful just the way you are!
