DEAR CAROL: How Jealous Is TOO Jealous?!

One of my close guy friends is going out with my BFF. I like this guy a lot as a friend but, I admit, I am jealous of their relationship. They are going to a movie next week, and they already went out to dinner once.

I have a boyfriend, but we never go on dates. I am worried I’m losing two great friends.

Dear Worried,

A little jealousy is perfectly natural. But a lot of jealousy can poison friendships. Take a deep breath, and try to be happy for them. And since you and your boyfriend don’t go out enough, why not suggest a double date?

If you feel you need some one-on-one time with any of them, it’s OK to confess your feelings. But next time you get hung up about any of this, remember that time might change this relationship anyway. So do your best to stay friends with everyone.

Yeah I also got jealous at a point when all of these girls started flirting with one of my guy friends- this is because he just got into highschool so I'm not so sure if he'll be his old self without all that ego stuff

i always get really jealous. i dont try to be i just do. like i feel like my whole life is a competition. like my one friend will where her hair one way then get all these compliments so i try to make it better. hah and i get mad when attention isnt on me. how can i change my jealousy?

Hey babe,

A lot of girls have this same problem and there isn't an easy solution. Try to remind yourself to be happy for your friends and if you catch yourself being competitive, try to calm down a little bit. Not everyone can be the best at everything. People will notice you for what you're best at but your friends deserve the same attention.

ok well I had a difficult time last year.well we'll call her cat she was my best friend ever! then she started to ignore me and hang out with well lets call her dog who she hated before. now her and dog hated me and turned all the girls against me. one day they got in a fight and decided not to be friends anymore..then me and dog became friends and cat became a trouble maker. now I think cat is jealous and wants to be friends again after I pratically begged her. should I be besties with her again or not?

i'm friends with this girl, whos sister used to be sisters friend but did some bad things and there not friends anymore bc of that. i want to be friends with her sis but my sis and mom don't like her so i dont know what do. i also don't know how trustworthy she is or if she is going to backstab me bc she isn't always the best. what do I do?

how do i get my crush's attention? he treats me like any other girl and i can't seem to get him to like me/get his attention. it would be weird to just randomly say hi in the hallway.i have homeroom and civics with him, too, but I don't sit anywhere near him. how do i know if he likes me? he talks to some girls and treats them all the same (not flirting, talking) so i'll never know.

Hey girl! You can hang out with this girl, but just keep your guard up. You can talk to him about school or anything, so he realizes who you are.
