REALLY want a younger sib

I'm an only child and I want a sibling really bad! I keep telling and begging my parents to adopt a child because our church has an adopting program.

They just won't ever listen!

Hey girl,

I know how you feel. When I was younger, I wanted a little brother or sister so bad. Eventually, I got a baby brother and was so happy…until he learned how to talk. Just kidding! I know you must feel a li'l lost and lonely without a younger sib, but there are some ways to remedy the sitch.

R-e-s-p-e-c-t the 'rents

Adopting is a long, difficult process and it can take years for everything to go through. This could be one of the reasons why your parents don’t want to do it. Having kids is also expensive, and they may not feel like they have enough money to provide for both you and a younger sib. If you have told them how you really feel and they still don’t want to adopt, then you have to respect their wishes.

Get your own sib...sorta!

However, there are some great programs you can get involved in so you can be around little kids. Check around and see if your church or community has a big brother/big sister program. These services are gaining popularity because they give older peeps (like you) a chance to interact and learn from younger kids, while giving the little ones a chance to learn from older, more experienced guys and girls. Often, both the big and the little create that unique, sibling bond and stay friends for life.

Remember, we don’t always get what we want, but there are always ways around the situation that could lead to an even better outcome.

ok girl to tell you the truth younger sibs stink they are annoying and sometime you would want to rip there heads off. Cause i have one and she is the most annoying thing on this earth. I want to kill her sometimes. So you are lucky that you are the only child.

crazyskater15 on 11/28/2009 10:26:36 AM

Totally know how you feel!!!! I'm an only child 2, and my friends don't get it why I want siblings and they always tell me to stop complaining because they all WANT to be only childs!!!!!!!! My parents don't get it either because they grew up with LOTS of siblings. None of them get that sometimes I get bored, and older or younger siblings entertain you.

hbpear on 11/27/2009 8:34:28 AM

mod mod ok so my mum took my email and my cellphone away just because one of my friends wrote some bad langua

Hey girl! Well, try talking to your mom and explaining it wasn't you. Maybe you two can come to an understanding and a compromise by talking it out!

I wouldn't mind a little brother... Be thankful for what you have. I have siblings, but I'm the baby of the fam. I don't even live with them, so its no fun. I want a little sis' to take shopping or chase for poking her nose in my diary. And I wouldn't mind a lil' brother either. I know how ya feel...

MOD MOD MOD my room is the only place in the house with no rules, judgement, of people. my room is mine and i make it completly claer that i dont want anyone in it. yet i still find my mom and siblings in there when i come home. my room is right off the kitchen and you can always see it. sometimes i find my landline phone mived to my bed, my clothes all over the floor, my personal things dug through and i know this is my mom. how do i tell her my room is mine and mean it????? thx!!!!!

Hey girl, tell her exactly what you are telling me. It is completely reasonable that you would want your own privacy and a bedroom is a santuary for most girls.

i'm like so jealous of my friends cause they all have like at least brothers and sisters. i totaly feel the same way (though i wouldn't make my parents adopt a child). when i'm a little older, i would love to help out with my dad's pre-k class at church. it's so weird how kids will get so atached to me so quick, last sunday i was talking to his class about halloween and it was so cute what they said.

2.Say your mom's name 5x
3.Say your crushes name 3x
4.then paste in this 4 other places,if you do this your crush will kiss you the nearest friday

naya on 11/7/2009 6:50:34 PM

MODMODMODMOD okay this may be long sorry. so i really really want to be an actress like in movies and stuff. but when i told my parents they thought it was a joke! they said it wasnt serious. but i am really serious about it. i have done a ton of research on acting classes and agents near me and found a really good one. but its like 350 dollars! but at the end you interview with real agents so. . . how do i ask my parents about it and tell them i am so serious about it?? i was thinking asking about them sending me to the class as a christmas present? (also if i werent serious i wouldnt want to go cause i would have no friends there but i really wanna go to learn.) thank you so much!

Hey girl! I think the Christmas present idea sounds really great! That might be the kicker to convince them! Try it out and offer to try to help pay a little by doing extra chores and helping out around the house. That might show them how dedicated you are!

MOD MOD MOD MOD- Hi so I'm so scared about having gym in school cuz although I'm pretty athletic I HATE team competition. Like sometimes we play random competitive games and I hate it. I much rather prefer individual sports, and when it's all for fun. I guess I just like to make people happy and when they shout at me for messing up on something I don't take it well. Are there any words of advice I can just say to myself during gym tomorrow so I can get rid of the nervous feeling in my stomach? Frown

Hey girlie,

Just remember that even though people are yelling at you, they aren't (or shouldn't be) mad at you. There's a difference in being mean spirited during a competition and being intense during a competition. So try not to take it personally when people are not being super duper nice.

MOOOOOOOOOOOOD MOD MOD MOD My Bf of around a week HAHA is really awkward with me now that we have started dating! before when we were just friends it was easy and it flowed... but now he is SO awkward! how do i make it not awkward? the most he does is hug me! at he hardly does that! my friends said to jsut go up and kiss him to let him know it is okay to do things like that with me and make him less shy about those sorts of things... what do you think i can do to make it less awkward? everyone says that since he is shy i will have to make all the first moves... HELP! thanks xo

Hey girl!  I suggest trying to intiate things a bit.  I wouldn't go up and kiss him just yet because it may startle him.  But, instead of waiting for him to hug you, feel free to hug him or hold his hand on your own time.  This will give him a little confidence that you're okay with how things are and that you're still into him.  Since he likes you a lot, he's prob nervous about physical bf/gf stuff, so try to show him that it's nothing to stress over.  Keep cracking the same jokes and talking as naturally as you did before you were going out.  It'll help him to relax a bit. Good luck! xoxo Kristen

MOD. Me and my best friend went to a haunted house the other night. We met some really cute guys and got their numbers. So we've been texting (a lot of flirting!) for the past 48 hours. Last night, one of them told me they like my friend and was asking me see if she liked him and if I could step up a date for them. The same thing happened with the other guy this morning! This isnt even the first time something like this has happened before. I feel really depressed now. Should I just let it go again? Or say something to my friend?

The fact that they like your friend? Im sorry to hear that, girlie, but that entire situation sounds kinda impulsive. I prefer to go out with guys I know well and am friends with. No worries, your Prince will come soon enough! Best,

Miliana B.

I just started wearing eyeliner TODAY. And I have to go back on Monday, and even though I've been waiting forEVER to start wearing eyeliner, I'm still kinda shy about everyone looking at me, 'cause I look a lot different..any help how to overcome my fear?

Well you're wearing eyeliner because you like how it looks, right? So as you walk into school, remember that you look fab and if heads are turning it's because they think so too. Best,
Miliana B.

I have bangs that go to like, my eyebrows and I have really thin blonde hair... but my problem is my hair is perfectly clean, but my bangs keep clumping into little parts so you can see through O.o I hate it and I'm thinking about growing them out, but is there a way to stop this?

If your hair is thin, it's not out of the ordinary for your bangs to do that. If you style them carefully, they shouldn't clump, so give that a try! Best,
Miliana B.

I know this will sound weird, but I feel really awkward around my step-dad. Im not close to him at all, in face I barely talk to him. And when we are alone, all I wanna do is get away cause we never say anything to each other. The wierd thing is I have known him since I was three and has practically been my dad my whole life cause when I was about a year old my real dad left. Anyways, I feel like I cant get close to him either but IDK why because he is a great guy.
What can I do to try and be more open with him??

Hey girl! Its ok if your not comfy around him, jsut take the time to get to know him better.

Don't put pressure on your parents. It's not fair to them. Why not just do like, a Big Sister program? I'm sure they have them locally where you live ... There in most towns.

Hardly anyone has a great bond with their younger siblings. It's not like on TV. Ever. Younger sibs are a pain in the butt and rarely a day goes by that my bro and I won't get in at least 2 fights.

MOD~~ I reeeally wanna wear makeup, but I'm too embarrassed to ask my mom. I don't even know why, I just am. We're not very close, and I don't feel comfortable talking to her about girly stuff like that. She probably would say yes, but I'm still too nervous! By the way, I'm in 9th grade, so I'm definitely not too young! How can I ask her, and when can I bring it up?? Oh and when did you start wearing makeup? Just wondering! Thanks Smile

Hey girl! Just try asking her if you could pick up some eyeshadow or bronzer one day. I think that's a pretty normal age to start with the basics! Be confident, chick! It could be a great opportunity for you two to become a little closer!

Being a Libra, I see both sides of this.
Your side:
You really want a little sib! Understandable. Growing up being THE center of attention is way annoying. But there are perks right? No fighting for attention, more presents (maybe), and more quality time and trust!
Having a sib would be a big change for you though. You would have to help (depending) and you'd have to share the attention and quality time and not get as much out of your parents.

Your parents:
They might think that adopting would bring on some problems.
a) adoption is a delicate process
b) being adopted can affect how a child acts
c) they are not sure you would understand the complications of it
So maybe just ask what your parents intake on adopting would be? If you guys know what each other are thinking on the topic, that would help.

MOD ~MOD~ MOD
My older brother is really rude and mean towards everyone in our family. My dad is a truck-driver so hes only home on Sundays, sometimes Saturdays. I have a younger brother who has emotional problems and of course my older bro takes advantage of that. There was a huge fight and now my mom says she is NOT our mom anymore, she hasnt talked to me in 2 days. She also said when our dad comes home she is leaving, she has all ready packed. She said she wish she never had kids and we are the worst ever. and she says she understands why *her* mom's "mom" left, and im afraid to talk to her now. Im scared, help please.

Hey babe, this sounds like a really tough time for your family. Your mom is probably just really stressed right now and I'm sure she doesn't mean what she's saying. See if you can give your dad a call and talk to him about what's going on. If he's not available, call and aunt or uncle or family friend whom you and your family trust. Write down some of your thoughts in a journal so you can vent a little about what's going on. I'm sure you all can work it out. Hang in there!
