School

Hatin' my high school

I HATE my high school. Hate it! Everyone there uses bad language and has no respect for anyone. I used to attend a private Catholic school where everyone respected each other.

Recently, a boy in my math class kept swearing and I finally told him to hush. He called me a really bad word and told me to mind my own business. I started to cry in front of the whole class. He was mocking me by pretending to cry and no one actually did anything! Not even the teacher!

I hate that place so much and just want to be home-schooled. I haven’t told my mom about the guy yet and probably won't. Help!

Hey girl, sorry to hear about the rough school sitch. I can imagine it must be way hard to focus and enjoy yourself with that kind of negative energy, but are some ways to make things a bit better.

Positive princess

Try to look on the bright side. I know it seems like this is an all-out awful sitch, but brainstorm things to look forward to in your school day. Love that crazy art teacher? Acing a hard bio class? Bravo, girl! It may not seem like much, but try to look forward to these parts of school instead of focusing on the negatives. It’ll make make everything a little easier and make you feel tons better, too. Even though it’s tough and you feel like you’re alone, remember that you’re better than your rude classmates. If you don’t let the haters get to you too much, they can’t touch you.

Safety in numbers

Is there anyone who seems like they might be in the same place as you? Strike up a convo and make a new friend.  Give people a chance, too. Don’t assume that they’re all rude and immature like that guy in your class. If you’re friendly, you may just find a pal who’s just like you. So gang up in a good way—surround yourself by a pack of positive people who make ya laugh and put a smile on your face. Even having just ONE BFF there to support you will make things seem sooo much better!

‘Rent vent

If that doesn’t work out, don’t be afraid to talk to your ‘rents. You don’t have to tell them about the guy in your class if you don’t want to, but let them in on how you’re feeling. They love you, and are going to want to help you as much as they can. After all, your parents want their darling daughter to be happy! Sit them down for a chat. If you’re really nervous about talking to them, try scribbling down the things you def want to tell them or even write them a letter.  ‘Rents sooo not into home-schooling? You all can def look into transferring to another school next year. But don't give up on this place just yet. Try some diff tactics and it should get better!

I hate to say it but you really cant aviod it. People are gunna swear, do drugs, get drunk, and have sex no matter what you do. Thats how high school is. Thankfully not everyone is like that so find people you can count on! Smile (You should tell your mom though because that wasnt very responsable of your teacher not to do anything.)

Yuck. Ask your parents if you and your bff can homeschool or at least move schools. The teachers are just kissing up because they want attention.

WaffleAddict on 12/9/2009 10:07:53 PM

I was homeschool most of my years.
so when I started going 2 school in 5th it was a surprise 2 me. I just had 2 take anyway. At the end of the first qurter you'll be fine.

cutiepie63 on 11/19/2009 12:39:57 PM

No offense, but that's not bad. Everyone cusses, and if you get used to it that just makes life so much easier. I get called names sometimes, everyone does, but no one actually means it, usually. I mean, it's life. Not everyone is a sweet little private school kid. That sounds mean, and sorry, but I've been going to public school my whole life, so I know exactly what you're talking about, but it doesn't bother me at all anymore.

evah713 on 11/16/2009 4:21:55 PM

MOD MOD MOD i tried to tell my mom and dad about how i cry myself to sleep at night and stuff and i started cryin i thought it was working the all of a sudden my dad started yellin at me for being a cry baby what should i do now i cants sleep

Hey girl! Try talking to a school couselor or a good friend. It will feel good to get it all out in the open and have someone to hug you!

My middle school is kinda like that. People curse way too much. Luckily, I'm in a nerd class (=P) so mostly everyone is self-respecting. but the bus is totally different. i remember last year in 7th grade, the 8th grade boys used to curse so much and mess around with me and my friends. the thing is my friends have no problem with cursing so they cursed right back.

NJessicaN on 11/15/2009 12:30:53 PM

Heyyyy just ignore him!!!!!

victoria Leonard on 11/14/2009 11:14:06 AM

ok this probably seems really harsh but don't complain there was a full out fist-fight in my civics class today. and most people do swear but they don't mean the actual word's it's just a way to make them seem 'cool.' so don't take offense he probably felt bad when he made you cry

hazel_hottie on 11/6/2009 8:49:56 PM

That's pretty much how most high schools are. There are lots of people like that at mine I just try to ignore them and they never bother me :/

Good luck, though.

turtles_in_africa on 11/3/2009 5:59:58 PM

I agree with you so much!! I went to a Catholic schol for 1st-8th grade!! I loved it there!! However, thsi eyar I switched to a public school and yeah, there's a lot of disrespectful people here. that's why I hang out with people like me!! Mostly all of ym friends' are religious and even the ones that aren't are still respectful!! I'm also in a club called S.O.A.P! Students.of.active.prayer. Smile You should check to see if there's one at your school!! If nto, talk to your principal about starting one!! I'm sure there are a lto of more people just like you out there that are jsut afraid to speak up!! Smile
Good luck!!

cheytai on 10/29/2009 8:05:01 PM

Same sitch, chica!! But do you want to know whats even WORSE? I go to a Catholic school now!!!! At my old Catholic school, the kids were very respectful to one another and they liked praying and going to church. But at this school, having a religious attitude is looked down upon by everyone. We go to mass once a week (as opposed to 2 times a week @ my old school) and the kids complain so much! I hear the f bomb like a hundred times a day and everyone makes fun of EVERYONE! ppl are really two faced, too. u just gotta not care what anyone thinks about you and find good friends who will stick with you. BE A LEADER not a follower. And remember, uvv got the Big Guy Upstairs on your side!!! Smile oh and me too! hhaha

dramaqueen121195 on 10/29/2009 5:59:01 PM

I used to be homeschooled. Its not all that great. It makes u feel like ur cut off from the rest of the world! Like all of my friends would talk about how great there schools were and stuff and i couldnt say much about mine.If u find a good homeschool group near u it makes it a lot easyer. I'm still friends with a bunch of people from mine and thats also were i met my bestfriend of 10 years. Well thats just how it was for me. it might be different for u....

VIST MY PROFILE PLZ!

Mod...
This year school is really hard. I mean my test scores are an average c. I usually pull A in most if not all my classes. I am taking harder classes but I have soo much work. I have to do 5 to 6 hours of homework a night just to get it all done but only pull c's in my classes. I can get the work but it just takes time to do it. What should I do? I am drowning in homework!
Off to finish more... at this rate I will go to bed at 11 again (or midnight)! *Sigh*

Hey babe, it sounds like maybe you need some tutoring in certain classes to be able to get through the work a little quicker. Talk to your school counselor or teachers about what they suggest, but it shouldn't be taking you 6 hours a night to do homework.  I'm sure they'd be happy to help you figure it all out!

That kinda sucks that people are cussin...but you are in a public school now, and they do cuss, especially in high school, and yeah it might be hard to ignore all of the cussin but try. check out my profile and post comments pleazzz!! (:

Goth_girl_552915 on 10/25/2009 5:38:31 PM

Mod! I'm really shy an I say saorry a lot. How do I get more confident?

Hey girl, you have to start talking more. And this may seem a little intimidating at first, but once you having conversations with a few people, it will be easy. So start by having small conversations with people. Begin with a "Hi" or "Hello" and ease your way into a full conversation. Ask them about things they're interested in, like their hobbies or activities they like doing. Alsoo join clubs and groups around your neighbor and school! Hope this helps! Smile

that really sucks, but u gotta hold on the best u can, as i have moved into a new school too, but u just have to deal with it people will have horrible language everywhere you go, so u will just have to deal with it and try the best u can!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

kennerz13 on 10/25/2009 1:36:19 AM

Hahaha, just because, YOU don't or choose not to swear, doesn't mean THEY shouldn't or can't curse. Ignorant people like you are annoying. If you REALLY can't stand all of it talk to your gaurdians. Did you even try to overlook all the swearing and bad stuff?

MOD MOD MOD!- Hi. So I'm having some school issues. I moved to a new school and they teach completely differently and everything. I'm doing okay in most subjects, but I'm having a lot of problems with social studies. One, I hate my teacher. She pretty much expects us to know everything she's going to teach us that day before we walk in the room. And what's terrible is everyone else loves her! They're like oh she's so funny, nice and her class is so easy! But I'm thinking the complete opposite! And two I have an 'oral test' coming up and I don't understand anything about the Plate Tectonics; which unfortunately is what I'm going to be standing up infront of the whole class talking about for the 'oral test'! I just don't understand anything! It's like my whole class learned it last year and I didn't learn it. I really need to boost my grade up. Do you have any studying tips for me? And btw what I need to know for this 'oral test' is all the names of the Earth's plates, where they are all located, what directions that plate collides with other plates in, what natural disaster this will cause, how that disaster was caused, and what that disaster will do. All I the notes I have to look back at are 15 vocab. words and their definitions, 7 diagrams, and 20 pages of reading in my textbook (she didn't actually TELL us that we had more info and explanations in the textbook I am the only one who knows cuz I actually CARE about my grades.) Thanx so much and don't worry you don't need to tell me anything about Plate Tectonics (lol) just some studying tips, how to concentrate while studying (I have probs with that lol), and how to sit through my teacher's class on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and every other day I need to suffer!!! lol Smile

Hey babe! When I study it's all about staying organized.  Try making flashcards with the definitions, and seeing what works for you.  (for me if I write things down it helps me remember them),  Other people work best with visual pictures, or typing, or saying the definitions out loud.  Also- Try seeking out tutoring and after school help with your teachers ! It's important to get the study help you need! The teachers are there for a reason...it's their job to teach you! They'd be more than happy you asked, rather than having you super confused! Good luck girl!!!!!!

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD
Okay, so two years (7th Grade) ago I liked this guy (lets call him M). Our friendship was really akward/shy. He never texted me first, EVER! That same year my friends told him that I liked him. Well the next year (8th grade) We were really distant and tended to stay away from each other. Whenever we would talk it would be even more akward than before! Well this year (9th grade) I have 2 classes with him. We don't ever talk in 2nd period but we always talk in 4th. It's not even akward anymore! Well lately he has been texting me first and will call me like "Owl girl" or "Owl City Lover" (Because I love Owl City.) I got him into liking owl city 2 and the last time he texted me, we were like going back and forth stating owl city lyrics and I said this really long piece of lyric and he said "Lol you are such a nerd at Owl city(:" and I said "Thank you, I'll take that as a compliment" and he said "It was lol" Then the time before that we were talking about cars and goofing off and he said "How about I give you that car" (This really EXPENSIVE car that his dads gonna give him) and I said "Tempting offer, but no thanks(:" and he said "Why afraid you'll wreck it?lol" and I was like "Maybe (:" and he said "Well you would look nice in it". WHAT DOES THAT MEAN! He acts so different towards me this year. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME OUT ON THIS! Sorry this is long. Mod and girls feel free to help me out on this! Thank you(:

Hey babe! This guy is flirting hard core with you! It seems like he may have a crush! Have fun flirtin!

I have a BF. He is great and everyone says were great together, but I wanna break up with him. I am kinda scared and nervous to break up with him though because I have broken up with him before and everyone didnt understand why I did. And when I told him I didnt like him anymore they thought it was something else, and that was lieing. He is considered the "perfect guy" at my school, but I just dont feel like I like him anymore. And Im scared because last time I broke up with him he wouldnt talk to me for 3 months, and he was one of my closest guy friends. I have been wanting to break up with him for 2 weeks. What should I do?

Hey Girl, You need to do what's best for you. Don't worry what other people think. If you want to break up with him, you should do so, but be completely open and honest with him. He may be upset and won't want to talk to you for awhile, so make sure to give him his space! Let him know you want to still be friends but understand it may take time for him to come around. Be patient.

i used to go to a public school and i felt like everyone there was really nice and repectful. now i go to a catholic high school and everyone talks bad about each other, constantly curses, the boys are so immature and perverted (not like that wasnt true at my old school, but they act about it instead of just saying but doing)
if you went to a catholic school for k-8 thats probably why this is such a big change. its highschool so no matter where you go its very likely your going to have these problems. im sure if i would have continued at my old school, there would still be gossip, bad language, and people that i dont want to associate with.

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD Hey hope it is going good. I just got back from a metting for a early collage high school. Their are a lot of pros and cons. they would shove 4 years of high school in to 2. Then we take collage classes. It is on the campus of the local university so we travel a lot. We would graduate with 50 collage credits but we would have 3-4 hours of homework and stuff on weekends. Pluse huge projects. I am relly smart so i know i could do well. It just semms like a lot of work. My parents left the dicision to go through the application process. Any ideas? THANKS

Hey babe, I think it sounds like it could be a great opportunity, but only if you and your family are ready for it. Talk it out with them and decide if you want to apply. It doesn't hurt to just apply and see what happens.

look honey at public school people cuss a lot. i go to a school for academically gifted kids and there is still a lot of cussing. same at the private schools. your going to have to get used to it. but try not to cry when they call you that because theyll only mock you more. dont use any moral tricks either, because theyll think its weird, but you dont have to cuss either. remember if a kid cusses at your new school it doesnt make them a bad person!

Smile

sugarspicesexy on 10/22/2009 8:43:55 PM

I'm sorry but . . . ur no longer at a private school. public schools are wayyyyy different. I go to one and EVERYONE swears . . . and guys call me the b word all the time. You can't tell someone to stop cursing, it'll just make it WAY worse. Also, you can't cry, don't let a loser make you cry! I know you don't like all this cursing and dis-respect . . . . but hon, WELCOME TO HIGH SCHOOL! High school is like that. STAY STRONG! YOU'LL GET THROUGH! Smile

jonasNtwilight3 on 10/22/2009 8:40:56 PM

I hate to say it, but in high school, people swear. Thats just kind of how it is. I'm not saying its a good thing, or that you should swear too (I don't) but its the truth. People at my school started swearing in 4th grade! So don't take it personally, you get used to it after a while. ;D

fishlover926 on 10/22/2009 8:02:16 PM
