So Desperate for a Cell!

 

I really want a cell phone, but my parents refuse. I’ve tried everything. They say they trust me but just don’t want me to have one.


How can I persuade them to get me one?


Pinpoint the precise reasons your parents don’t want you having a cellie. Are they worried you’ll spend time chatting or texting instead of doing homework? Do they want to track who’s calling you to make sure you stay out of trouble? Once you know their concerns, try to reach an agreement. Maybe you’ll only turn your cell on when you’re out (mention that they’ll always be able to reach you!), talk for a set amount of time per day or let your parents monitor who you’ve been talking to.


If you’re willing to compromise, your parents might come around. It’s possible, though, that they can’t fit it into their budget. If that’s the case, have patience and, for now, enjoy the feeling of not being connected 24/7.

I have friends in school that I love hanging-out with and we laugh and talk in school, but that seems to be it! I'll try or have actual plans with them to go to the movies, mall, just hang-out or go up town. The problem is, is that IM ALWAYS the one making the plans, not being invited to the plans, unless I "so-happen" to be talking about things that's my friends have made plans to do, or go see. I feel so left out over the weekends and depressed that I end-up doing homework on Fridays while my friends are out having fun, or hear what THEY did together. I do text them or facebook chat with them or SOMETHING to make plans! Even if I do its sooo rare that I feel like its an extra special day, even though its just another day with friends to my Bffs. What should I do? Is this okay?

I got one in October and I like it.
I was going to hang out with my friend and I told my mom I would call her from my friends phone. I went 2 drop off my backpack and my mom just said "ok we r going to get new cell phones later and get u one" They wanted to know that I could call them if needed. Smile

I just got a cell over the summer for doing so well in skool and for being an over all good kid. I got it when there was three weeks left in skool and the agreement was too not bring it to skool. i dint bring it to skool even tho i really wanted to show it off but now tht im in middle skool i can bring it for emergency.So to get a cell all you really have to do is make a deal wit ur rents tht ull do good in skool, help out even if u dont want to, and tht ull try to stay out of trouble.

lol i just took action in getting a cell phone....the original plan was get one nxt year,but i made a list of y i shud get one. my dad and mom r now talking about it more....i eavesdropped on my parents one nite (lol not proud)and heard i needed 2 practice guitar and keep my room better organized. so the nxt nite i impressed thm by practicing guitar. lol, gotz 2 clean ma room soon!

MODMODMOD im in 8th grade (my sis is a sophmore) and neither of us have a phone so my parents told me why and they said "because you dont need one" and then "because we always know where you are and if at any point we dont we will get you a cell phone" but i said that was unreasonable because they ALWAYS know where i am so i brought up dangers like my friend gets kidnapped and they said to run to the nearest house. i think they are being unreasonable. what are other ways to get them to buy me one? im out of options! please help me convince them!! thnx Smile

 

Hey girl! Try sitting them down again and talking it out. Offer to pay for some of the bill or agree to a time of day you aren't allowed to have the phone on. Maybe you guys can come to a compromise!

These two girls sit with me and my friends at our table at lunch. We don't really mind..but there is a prob. They talk about super-innapropraite stuff! We try to ignore it but its bad stuff. They talk about inappropriate things about boys and body stuff that is not really a lunch appropraite subject!!! Ewww!! We have told them to stop but it doesn't help!!

Hey girl! Try to move away from them. If you've asked them to stop and they don't there isn't anything else you can do except move. THey are allowed to talk about whatever they want.

Hey chica, instead of just telling them how responsible you'll be, show them! Stay on top of your homework, keep your room clean and pick up a few chores around the house. They'll see you're mature and really serious about getting a cell phone and maybe let you get one. Smile

CAUTION: cell phones can be really, really, really, agravating and frustrating!!

I got my first phone at 10, it was prepaid and basically a tracfone, at 11 i got a blue katana, at 13 i got a red rant, it looks awesome but the first one i got died 10 days after i got it and i had to get another one, and the 2nd one lost all of my phone numbers

Your parents might not want you to go on a individual date until you are 17, but they might let you go on a group date! Try and get a bunch of friends together and get your guy to go too. That way you won't be solo, but you'll still get to spend quality time together.

Hey girl!  Of course you want a new cell, but you won't be able to get one unless you bring up that math grade.  So for now, focus on the school work and hit the books.  Try asking your teacher for help, getting friends together for a study session (make sure you actually work though!) or even consider getting a tutor.  If you work hard, it'll pay off!  Best, Kristen

MOD! MOD! MOD! MOD! I have a really evil cousin! She is really mean to me! I know i probably shouldn't be so upset about this; she's 2 years younger than me, but i can't help it! When ever i go see her and my other cousins, I have a lot of confidence in my outfit, (i luv fashion) but she just disses me! Hey chicky, we all have someone mean to deal with in our lifetime, so I feel where you're coming from. Ever heard the term "Kil them with kindness?" Well it works! Instead of treating your cousin mean the way she does you, be kind. Whenever she insults you, shrug it off and give her a compliment. She'll start to notice your kind behavior and will change the way she acts. Hopefully she'll see that being mean isn't the way to go. Good luck and hope I helped ya! Smile
