Me and one of GL's crafty doors
Hey girls! My name is Eryn and I’m an intern here at Girls’ Life. I’m a native Baltimorean but I didn’t realize that GL was so close to my house! I was super excited when I had the opportunity to intern at one of my fave mags.
My job involves a lot of cool work that I never thought went into producing the final mag and website.
Here's some secrets that I've learned so far...
Every Li'l Person Counts
GL had a photo shoot for our December/January holiday issue, and guess what? I had the opportunity to pose in some of the pics as an extra and see how a real photo shoot works. Yep, if you ever wondered where some of the peeps in the background of GL’s photo shoots come from I can tell ya that they’re everyday peeps like you, and um, me.
The shoot took place at a really cute hotel in downtown Baltimore. There was a stylist, photographer, and even hair and makeup peeps! It was really cool to see all these people work together to produce the awesome pics that'll appear in our special holiday issue.
Being able to pose in the photos was really fun, but at first I was nervous. I have no modeling experience and the only posing I have ever done was for family photos. I was scared I might mess up, but everyone was really nice and welcoming. The butterflies in my stomach flew away fast. I ended up having a great time!
At the office, workin' hard
Use Your Own Experiences
Another thing I didn't know about GL? How much of my real-life experiences I'd be using. I come up with lots of fun sleepover ideas for the site, and I definitely draw inspiration from the sleepovers that I used to have. My slumber parties were nights filled with food, giggles and secrets (Check out some of my ideas right HERE!). It's always a blast thinking up new stuff for you gals to try out!
Another big part of Girls' Life is modding the comments. I love answering all of your questions, especially the ones about clothes and makeup! My friends and I always chit chat about our lives and give advice to each other, so modding is one of my fave things to do. It's fun to hear what you girls have to say about the mag and talk about issues that are important to you. I really feel connected with our users and readers this way!
