My BFF is a guy, and other guys don’t ask me out because they assume he’s my BF.

I don’t want to end our friendship, but I’d like the chance to have a BF.

What should I do?

Having a guy BFF is great! Your other good friends—guys and girls—must know you two don’t date. Or do they? People who’ve never had close friendships with the opposite sex tend to assume people who do are secretly dating.

When you two hang with a group, don’t stick together in a cozy corner. Circulate. If he walks up while you’re talking to someone, introduce him as your good friend. When people ask if he’s your BF, let them know the deal. Sorry, but the burden is on you to bust the myth that this guy’s your BF.

MOD hey i'm having a miserable problem lately! there is this guy and he is a JERK!!!!!!! like he makes me cry every day! He's mean and cruel but i LOVE him. like im seriously in love with him! Because sometimes he can be sweet but then he makes me cry because hes so mean and picks on me and calls me a b***h and tells me i should go out with this kid i really hate does he like me??? why is he putting me through so much torture were in the 7th grade for GODS SAKE!! what is going on <3 always MISERABLE but in love!

Even if he does like you, he is taking the teasing to an unhealthy extreme. He might like you, but do you really wnt to date a guy who would call you that and cut into like that? I know it's hard because you really like him, but try to set your sights on a guy who's mature enough to be nice to you.

MOD- i need help! ok, there's this girl that i'm kind of friends with, but she's a huge flirt, and can sometimes be kind of an annoying showoff, especially in front of guys. she flirts with all the guys in our class, and thinks that she's really cool and that they all like her, but in reality.....they don't, and they think that she's a player. i would have tried to clue her in on this earlier, but she really doesn't appreciate people telling her what to do/how to act, and i don't know what to do to clue her in on what the guys think of her! help! thanks!

Hey girl! If she tries to put on a really flirty outfit, try to recommend something else. If she's getting really over the top with the guys, try to pull her away from them or distract her with something else. If you come right out and tell her what the guys think, she'll def get upset. But if you sit her down for a chat and let her know that you're not trying to tell her what to do, but you think that she's not portraying herself in the best light, she may respond better. Let her know that you're just trying to look out for her. Best, Kristen

Okay, so last night I decided to tell one of my best friends (Kim) something about me that is really personal. I asked if I should tell my other best friend (Ellie), because I knew she wouldn't react that well. I decided to tell her at recess in private, and had Kim come over with me to tell her.
Now, her boyfriend (who hates me, by the way) and one of her BFFs (who I'm not friends with) are mad at her because we told people to go away while we were talking. It didn't take all recess, maybe ten to twenty minutes MAX. I feel so bad for her! What should I do?!

Hey girl, just explain you were having a private discussion and you didn't mean to exclude them. They should respect that and understand that sometimes when you're talking about personal things, you just aren't comfortable with everyone knowing them. Be sure to be gentle and careful with your phrasing, girl, but you'll be fine.

OMG!!! My bff is a guy too!! but i dnt have the same problem as her. I dnt c my bff that often becuz we live in different parts of the country. and trust me i wud do anything for him. No matter What happends in my life my bff is always there for me. haha it might sound like im in love with him but im not. I just love him, but not like anything more then a friend.
