The Healthy Way to Snack

 
I had been doing really well at eating healthy, but now I'm not doing so hot. For a snack, I'll be telling myself to have an apple, but then I'll think, "What's the big deal if I eat Cheetos?" so I go for the chips. I know it's wrong, and I want to change. Any advice?

Hi babes,

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I always think that because I went to the gym, this means that I can eat whatever I want. But that basically cancels out all of my gym time.

Moderation is key to a healthy lifestyle. It’s OK to have a handful of Cheetos every once in a while. If you deny yourself any snacks whatsoever, chances are you will binge on them when you allow yourself to have some. Try getting those hundred calorie packs. They offer a lot of yummy snacks, but the portion is small enough that you are satisfied without totally gorging yourself.

It takes a lot of practice to choose the healthier option over the junky option. For me, the feeling of overall wellbeing encourages me to snack on fruits and veggies rather than potato chips and candy. Once this becomes more of a pattern for you, it will be easier not to overindulge.

ATTENTION TO ALL GIRLS WITH A CRUSH!!!! Do u fell like ur hearts going to burst when he smiles? Do save his texts so that u can read them again and again? Are ur friends tired of hearing about him because you talk about him so much? We need to help each other out! Its hard to talk to guys especially when you think ur all alone! I had an idea. For twilighters this is well known, but new moon comes out this Friday. I think this is a great opportunity for girls to help eachother. Every girl reading this should ask their crush to the movies this Friday. U can ask knowing that other girls are swallowing their fear and doing the same thing. U can ask them to go as a friend, with a group of friends, or, if ur brave, as a date. As proposer of this idea, i asked my crush out today. I was terrified he'd reject me but HE SAID YES!! I want to help other girls get the same reply, so I am opening my profile to questions about guys(which i will try to answer at the best of my ability), support(because just thinking about asking him is brave), or comments about my idea(good and bad). MOD MOD MOD I need advice. My mom doesn't buy a lot of healthy foods so there's nothing to snack on in the afternoons after school. Also, do you know of any other healthy snacks besides One Hundred Calorie packs? Thanks! (:

 

Hey girl! Try fruit and veggies! Those are the best for getting your vitamins and nutrition requirements. Plus, so yummy!

I am going to try moderation. Like trying to drink pop only 3 days a week instead of 7, limit myself to one or two sweets a day. Things like that!

Im trying to eat more healthy. I only snack on healthy snacks when I am starving.Other than that I just wait until it's meal time but if im not hungry i dont even eat then. And the problem is my stomach never growls when im hungry.......so then i end up skipping more meals than wanted. oh well Smile

and i also think that i will only eat sweets one day of the week, on friday. and limit myself to only two sweets.

I have a really hard time eating healthy, exercising, going to bed early, and all that stuff. Any tips on how I can go to bed earlier, eat better, and exercise more. (I'm 15 and so I can't drive to the gym)

 

Hey girl, as I read that, I thought: you CAN go ot bed earlier. Just do it. Talk to your parents about eating better and maybe incorporating that into your family's diet too. And as far as excercise, run around your neighborhood, list some weights, you name it! You can do this! Best,

I used to try to be health but then I figured out that if you total cut out junk food you go absoultly crazy for junk food when you see it. Then i figured out that just limit yourself to 300 caliories a day on junk food you'll feel alot better.

my mom never gets the 100 calories snacks sadly so if i want to hav a healthy snack all i ave is bananas or an apple and i don't like thoughs so much

Yeah, what happens with me is when I go heathly all week... I have to splurge and pig out on junk food at some point. And then I'll be good again, and then splurge. It's a horrible cycle!

mod first of all i want to say i now love this site and might be commenting a lot Smile anyway... i like to eat junk food candy pop and that kind of stuff. im not fat im underweight but i was wondering if there are any kind of healthy snacks that don't involve fruits or veggies (because i hate them all) that i can eat to stay healthy?

Hey babe, just focus on the inside and what you like about yourself. Write down in a journal 5-10 personality traits or skills that you like about yourself and read them every time you're feeling bad.

MOD MOD MOD so i'm 4'10 and will be 12 on nov.25,whats a normal weight for myslef?I have muscles cuz im a comp.cheerleader.i do things like fulls,tucks,baskets,etc. JW cuz I've been through 4 eating disorders within 2 years.I dont wanna be self concious or insecure.so jw,thank you!!

MOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there an order to eat your food in that is healthier for you? For example, veggies, then meat, then grains etc...

 

Hey girl! Not really. If you fill up on veggies and fruit first though, you will eat less of the carbs and junk!

You can have these snacks once in a while, so if you choose healthy snacks for 5 days, indulge on Cheetos one day a week.

Lucky for me i dont snack, i only eat sides with my meals. And yeah moderation is key, like on fridays and saturdays I let myself have something sweet but not too much
