Fall Hiking

 
The leaves are changing colors, brooks are babbling and the temperature is perfect. Yep, there’s no better time to hike than fall. The views are amazing and you can forget about sweating through your t-shirt.
 
Hiking is the fun way to get exercise, especially if you aren’t into team sports or going to the gym. You forget that you are working out because the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Respecting our earth is an essential part of being a human, and a simple hike can put everything in perspective. You get the bigger picture.

Even though hitting the hills is serene, you’ve gotta dress and pack properly. Toss aside the Uggs and grab yourself a pair of comfortable hiking boots. You will be walking miles, so you need something that is comfortable and has lots of support. While you’re at it, toss a second pair of socks in your bag. You may be surprised to find yourself crossing tiny streams and you don’t want wet socks to ruin the entire hike. You’re gonna wanna wear a hat and pants (no matter the weather), and layers up top.

As far as gear goes there are a few things you must, must, MUST bring along. Water is number one—staying hydrated is super-important—snacks (look for something with protein and carbs, like peanut butter sandwiches) and a first aid kit. A rain jacket will keep you dry if it starts to pour and a watch will keep you on track. It’s key to know when the sun sets and have a map of where you’re gonna be walking around. Of course, never go out alone!

Hiking is a simple, easy and fun way to enjoy nature, so get out there and try it. Even if you aren’t a nature girl, give it a chance. You may be surprised to find your new favorite hobby!

I totally L-O-V-E GL!However my Mom doesn't.I still go to this website,but I really enjoy getting a magazine.What are some good mags for a 14 year old,that's not boy or disney star centered,and not Seventeen,she said no to that as well.Thanks!




Hey girl! I'm so sorry to hear your mom doesn't love us! What doesn't she like? I don't really know of any other mags for 14 year olds that aren't centered around fashion, beauty and health. Maybe you could get a sports type mag (if you like cheering, or gymnastics they make mags for that). Check out the magazine section at your local bookstore for some options that your mom will hopefully agree with. P.S.- Thanks for coming to the site.. we love all of our readers!

i have a great routine for exercise. every day i before i go to bed i do a short work out (like 10 minutes) then jump around to a couple of songs on my ipod just for fun. Even though its halloween, this combined with soccer and basketball keeps me in shape!

another tip, focus on the muscles u want to strengthen. for example, if you have great legs from track, focus more on your arms and abs.

okay, so i've started the healthy you program agin. i did it last april and over the summer i lost it. i ""officially"""" started it early spetember, but wasn't doing gerat so i started last sunday (week one) i've had a brownie( FACS-we made them) a twix, a snickers, AND a cupcake, all since sunday!! and halloween is cmoing up. should i just start it the next week or forget my slipups and keep going??




Hey girl, when it comes to sweets, it's all about moderation. It's totes okay to have a little candy corn on Halloween. That said, don't let one pack become twenty. Limit yourself to three pieces of candy Halloween and promise you work extra hard the next week. IT's all about diligence when it comes to sweets but don't think you're on a sugar ban forever.

haha how funny i went 4 a hike/jog 2day. it was awesome!!!! i normaly dont tag along with the other ppls in x country cuz there faster but 2day i did n it was heckaaaaa fun. we explored a bunch of stuff. it made me feel adventurous. im still kinda left out but its cool. n i tried these really yummy berries. i always thought they were poisonous. i wonder how otha ppl found out. i want moreeeee. there so good!!!!!!!!

We are a club with many parties of all kinds (including our upcoming Halloween party!) and much more stuff! Hey babe,

The best way to get motivated is actually to start working out. Once you get started you'll want to keep going, after the first few days. Once you get into a routine you won't even have to motivate yourself. For the first couple times, plan it into your schedule so you know you have time and remind yourself of all the benefits!

we hike ALL the time, summer, fall, winter, and spring! there are a TON of trails you can get to from my house, so we go ALOT

I did this last weekend Smile it was sooooo much fun and a bunch of my friends came and went with me take my advice if u want something fun to do on a weekend get some friends together and go camping and hiking Smile its fun and doesnt cost much and its a great way to hang out with friends Smile
