My Friend Wants to Experiment with Drugs

I love my friend like a sister, but recently she's really been scaring me. She's been talking about how she might want to try marijuana someday – and I know she can get it easily if she wants it. I've tried explaining to her all of the horrible things it can do, but she won't listen! How can I get through to her on how dangerous this is?

Hey babe,

Many young girls want to be reckless and try new things like marijuana. Your friend may not realize that marijuana is the gateway drug into doing far more dangerous drugs that can permanently damage her. People tend to do crazy things in the present without thinking how it could haunt them in the future.

You've been a great friend being honest to her about why doing marijuana is a bad decision but realize, that she may want to do it because people she knows are already doing it. The kids who do it at any age, always regret it because it ruins their memory, makes them addicted, and if they get caught by the police, than they will have a criminal record.

Try to convince her that all decisions impact people's lives later on in life. If she doesn't budge from this idea, then go to a guidance counselor. There is only so much you can do alone. Hey, i need anybody's help... whoever is willing to give it. My friend Amy recently told me that she is having unprotected sex with her boyfriend. She frequently calls and freaks out about contraceptives, but she will not listen when i tell her that not doing it is the best way to prevent pregnancy. i do not know what to do or what advice to give her, and i need a way to help her before it is to late and her life is ruined. please help!

Hey babe, this is extremely risky. She could get STDs or get pregnant. It's important that you care about her to help her make the right decision. If she's not going to listen to you , you should talk to a parent or trusted adult or guardian as soon as possible to help protect your friend.

Umm OK seriously, some of this information is wrong. Studies have shown that marijuana is not addictive and is not a gateway drug. There have been no recorded deaths due to marijuana. It's safer than alchohol, which is perfectly legal. I'm not saying that she should try it. I'm just saying that people tend to make it seem a lot worse than it is.

if she wants to do it and youve tried to stop her, just let her do it. She might like it. Giving her all this attention and making such a huge deal will make her think shes all rebelious and cool. marijuana wont mess her up too badly. but if you find out about crack or meth then i would tell someone.

*MOD MOD MOD!* Okay, so my friend is really nice to me when it's just us, and then stabs me in the back when she thinks I'm not listening. Example: At my birthday party, I came in right as she said, "She can't keep a secret." I asked my other friend in there who that was about and she said me. And this so called friend also treats my other friends badly and calls them losers. What should I do?! Thanks!

Hey there! I would definitely try talking to your friend. Don't seem angry or overly confrontational, but explain the situation at the party and let her know that hurt your feelings. As your friend, she shouldn't be saying those things behind your back! She may not realize how porrly this is coming across, so telling her about it might help her to stop. If it doesn't stop, don't be afraid to make new friends. You don't have to be mean or nasty to your friend, but also try to meet new people who will treat you a bit better. omg i could never imagine doing drugs.... im only 13 but i no alot of the dangers bout alot of the drugs out there bc my school does the D.A.R.E. program it stands 4 Drug Abuse Resistance Education... so i no bout tobacco, crystal methanphedamines(not sure how to spell it but it also known as crystal meth)...and also alcohol, marijuana,nicatine and many more drugs bc of this great program....if i were u i would talk 2 ur friend first and if she is willing to get help 4 her problems then help her as much as u can but if she doesnt want ne help just have her parents talk to her and make sure u and her 'rents tell her ALL of the dangers of doing drugs....sorry 4 the long message but i hope everything tuns out well

Hey girl! Don't worry about it too much. I just wouldn't give him any other info about you. He's probably not going to do anything, however, if you start noticing weird, stalker like behavior, delete him from facebook and tell your parents.

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!! SOS I have this friend. She's my best friend, but she acts utterly immature. She constantly embarrasses me in front of others. I'd have left her by now, except she has no other friends and her background is really rough. I have no time to worry about all this with my grades on a cliff, my extra-curriculars, extra studying, projects, etc...only problem is, I have no other friends. And my parents relatives don't like her because she's rude and vulgar-mouthed. Any advice on what to do or how to solve any of these aforementioned problems? Thanks!

Hey girl! Try mentioning her vugarity to her. Let her know some things that she happens to say are sometimes innapropriate and make others uncomfy. Making her aware will help her know when to stop acting like that and when it is not okay!

Hey girl! You should try talking to someone or writing down your feelings in a journal. You could talk to a counselor or a friend.

peopel are saying that you should just ditch her.
i'm shocked then annyone would think that. if that happened to me, and i got addicted, i think it would be really scary for me anyway and for my bff 2 ditch me because of it instead of staying with me and trying 2 help. really, what kind of friend would do that? i just don't understnad.....
also, i heard someone say that you would hhave the right 2 know and she as no right 2 keep it from you. that i also disagree with.

I am that experimenter... I know how that girl feels. Sometimes its just an urge, but you have to let your friends find their own way. Only tell an adult if they are addicted. Other than that its really none of your bussiness.

ok, I was just wondering, when you sick, and the drugs that the doctor perscribes to you, how come those dont mess you up like non perscription drugs?

Hey girl! Prescription drugs are medications in specific dosages that are used specifically for getting better. Prescription drugs cause serious health issues if people overdose or use them when they don't need them. Non prescription drugs are not administered by a doctor, and are usually things that people should never take because it is dangerous to your body. Best, Kristen <3

MOD.... My friend told me she's done weed multiple times, and I don't think she's addicted, but I really don't know. I already told my health teacher and she said she will get in contact with the guidance counselor at her school, but I feel immensely guilty. Did I do the right thing? I don't want to lose her friendship, or her to be mad at me...

Hey girl! You can try to ask your health teacher not to talk to the guidance counselor. Explain that you don't want to alienate your friend, and you want to try and help her first. Try talking to your friend about it. Let her know that you worry about her, and you're not comfortable with the fact that she's getting in to drugs. If you talk to her on-on-one, it will be more effective than having her sent to a guidance counselor, right now. Best, Kristen

You should just ask her, right of the bat say,
"Look, can you please explain to me why you even want to do that to yourself?" Cause if she is scaring you or making you feel alarmed in any way you don't have to put up with that. You have a right to know and you know that she's making the wrong choice. (You might even need to talk to her parents)

Hey girl! Try talking to a professional that deals with addictions. They will be able to give you pointers on how to confront your sister and say you care too much about her health than watch her treat her body that way !

Want to eat healthy but not ready to go full vegetarian?
Solution: Go semi-veg! This means that you will not eat cow and pig but still eat chicken and turkey (basically cutting out red meat). Or, you can give up all of those and just eat seafood.

Solution2: Moderation! Instead of every meal, eat just once a day or maybe once every couple days.

Solution3: Lower quantities! The average American eats 6 servings a day (2 servings per meal) when all they need is 3 a day. How about you eat meat every meal but only half a serving each meal?
