5 Minute Hair and Makeup Ideas

 

Who can spend an hour on hair and makeup in the a.m.? Uh, we don’t and we’re pretty sure you don’t either (hey, a girl needs her beauty sleep!). But that doesn’t mean you have to lose sleep to look amazing. We’ve got some super-speedy tricks to get you gorgeous—and out the door on time. Mornings have never looked so good.


Forget Foundation
There’s no need to slather foundation on your gorge face every a.m. Not only does it take forever, but it can make you look older. Instead, use a small amount of concealer to cover up blemishes and apply a tinted moisturizer over it. Let your natural beauty shine through.

Stick to the Essentials
Forget putting on a full face of makeup. Instead, apply two coats of black mascara for a wide-eyed look and a swipe of pink gloss. You’ll look pretty and polished, with zero effort.
 

VS Lip Glaze in Fuchsia, $10, victoriassecret.com

Pump up that Pony
A ponytail with volume is totally rockin’ (and not a bit boring). Backcomb strands at the crown of your head with a small brush. Gather all of your hair into a sky-high pony. Add a cool elastic and you’re set.
 


Zap Drying Time
Blow-drying your hair can take forever and a day. When you’re in a hurry, focus on the t-zone only (around your part and hairline). If it’s too cold to go out with damp hair, use a dry shampoo to refresh locks.



Get Lippy
Make your lipstick work double (or triple) duty. Apply a couple of dabs on your cheeks and blend like crazy for a makeshift blush. Or use your fingers to smudge some on your lids as a girly eyeshadow. Just make sure to blend, blend, blend and add mascara.

Yes there is. If you put too much on, your makeup can look very dramatic and you can start to look like a raccoon. Just put one thin line on your lid and at the base of your eye, and that should be enough. x0x0

I love this article BTW! But my question is this:
Ok, so my eyes are really dry, which makes me blink A LOT. Like, squint-your-eyes blinking. So even if i wear waterproof mascara, i cant go half an hour without getting huge mascara smears under my eyes because when i blink it transfers. i need some eyedrops, so i'll try those as soon as i can go to the doctor and get a new prescription (my eyedrops expired.ewww) but in the meantime, do you have any tips on making my mascara stay, and also make them pop behind my glasses? i have brown eyes BTW.
Uh, i just realized this paragraph is really confusing. so let me sum it up:
can you give me tips on making my eye makeup stay despite my blinking, and make my dark brown eyes pop behind my glasses?

Colors such as purple and copper will make your eyes pop. Try those colors for your eyeshadow. As for your mascara, theres not many more options other than waterproof so try different companies and see if any work for you. Good luck! xoxo kerra

MOD MOD MOD good idea!! i could use this, i HATE getting ready in the morning. i just hav one qustion: i absolutley HATE 2 wear makeup. ur constantly wondering if ur makeup look okay, and u hav 2 stop at the restroom 5 times a day 2 reapply. so is just doing concealer and mascara okay?
P.S.- wats better 2 moisturize your lips, lip gloss, chapstick, or lipstick?

Hey girl,

 

Try using a bronze eyeliner (make sure you smudge it so the line isn't too defined!) with peach, copper, or gold eyeshadow.  That will bring out the blue in your eyes and really make them pop!  Use a light pink lipgloss to keep things natural.  As for hair, try mixing it up!  Wear it down one day, in a ponytail the next, half-up-half-down the next, etc.  Variety is a great thing Smile

Hey girly! 

If you're into Hollister, I know they're big on the knit sweaters, beachy tanks and holey jeans. As a creative add-on though for the winter, sew patches onto the holey parts. Makeup wise I'd go with brown mascara, pink lip gloss and peach shimmer eye shadow. Hair- Straighten it, take one piece and twist it with your fingers, attach with a bobby pin to the side of your head.

Hey babe, Leggings and fun patterned tights are always great. You can wear flats or boots, (though stay away from calf-high boots with skirts, for the most part, or long skirts with tall boots). If you're not going anywhere too fancy, you can even wear sneakers or flip flops if you want (and it's warm enough). Cute t-shirts are great for a casual look or a nice top if you're going for something fancier. Just avoid wearing a long, tunic top with a short skirt. Basically, you can do pretty much anything! Hope that helps!

Hey chicky, your hair sounds cute the way it is, so spice it up with hair accessories. Throw a headband on one day and put hair clips and pins in it the next. Black, grey and all types of blue would look really cute on your eyes and make 'em pop. Getting glamorous doesn't have to take up that much time, so hopefully these tips help! Smile

I have dark dark dark brown hair. It's really thick, and kinda curly. The thing is I'm SOOO envious of girls with naturally red hair. I'm mostly Irish, and people ask my why I don't have red hair! I think red hair is sooo gorgeous. I don't want it to look fake or bad, so do you have any ideas? Should I do my whole head, or just reddish highlights? im trying to get long, healthy hair so my new years res was to use as little heat as possible. i have just past shoulder length hair. i cant wear it up in a ponytail, braids, ppigtails, or a bun. i've tried braiding over-night but it doesnt work.... any ideas?

 

Hey babe, braiding it will actually break your hair and damage it. Try eating lots of healthy foods and getting plenty of sleep. You can also try massaging your scalp for a few minutes every day to make your hair grow a little faster.

Are you always trying to rush to get the AM stuff done?? This will help give you a little more in the AM
Take some lip gloss that is clear and a liquid and put some on the lips (if you want to make your lips look bolder or if clear just is't enough, try a light pink color that is close to your natural lip color)

So you look at the clock and you still got a minute or two left. Try putting a lil' mascara on and perhaps some eye shadow that is a white to pink color. -You look FAB!! In less than 3 minutes!!

With ivory skin, it's best not to wear too dramatic colors so I'd go for any variation of pink for lip color and then light shimmer on your eyelids. Add a touch of mascara and you're good to go!

Get feathered bangs that you can wear in front of your face or sweep to the side. You don't have to wear pink to have bangs or change your style either.

My mom won't let me bring my straightener or curling iron cuz they cost too much to replace, and my hair is really crazy and wavy and frizzy, so what should I do with my hair for the dance??

Is she letting you bring a hairdryer? If she is then just brush your hair and use that and your hair will come out relatively straight. If none of that equipment is allowed than bring some hair gel and when your hair is wet, apply the hair gel and let your hair form into your natural waves.

Dark brown eyes-
Black, smokey colours look so pretty on you!
Look at Vanessa H. for inspiration. Her brown eyes always look pretty. You're also lucky because brown eyes mixes well with alot of colours! Try a smokey eyed look! (More black than grey, though.) Smile
Green eyes (Like me!)-
Purple is a fantastic colour for green eyed girls! It really makes your eye colour pop. You can mix a dark purple eyeliner with a light purple eyeshadow. Silver && grey are also cute for parties. Brown/redish shades are nice for going out at night and subtle enouph for a dinner or family gathering. Laughing
Redish Brown-
Browns, Greys, and blacks look very pretty! Don't be afraid to go for a auburn shade! The smokey eyed look is fantastic aswell! For a party, add 2 coats of black mascara and you're eyes will look amazing!
Blues-
Silver, grey, or icy whites bring out the gorgeous blue in your eyes. Black looks fantastic and really makes your eyes pop, but don't be afraid to add a blue shade that matches your eyes! That is so pretty. Smile

hey girl!  To curl your hair, you can use a curling iron or curlers.  For he curling iron, you wrap your hair around the iron and hold it for a few seconds, release, and voila!  For the curlers, you roll them into your hair and leave them in.  After a while, your hair will be curly.  If you want to try it out, either tool will come with instructions, and you can always ask your mom or friends for tips.  Best, Kristen <3

I have these disgusting dark circles under my eyes. Even concealer doesn't hide it all. People always think that I'm sick or tired when I first meet them, but after a while they get used to it. I eat right, get 9 hours of sleep every night, and I go through 3 bottles of water every day. I've had these circles since I was a baby, and all the women in my family have them, too. Is there anything I can do to make them go away?

Hey gals!!!! I just started wearing make-up and I have a 5 min suggestion for ur morning routine!

Apply eyeshadow. I personally prefer browns or white, but wahtever u like Wink

Put a smudge of foudation under ur eyes to hide dark circles. BLEND.

Add mascara- depending on your skin tone+ eyelash color, brown or black is a good color. Brush out lashes with lash brush to keep them seperate

finish with applying a light coat of ur fav liploss!

I have layers and my bangs grew out. All of my friends said they LOVE my hair straightened more than curly. My hair probably takes an hour and a half to straighten. I flip it to one side-straighten, flip it to the other side-straighten, then I do what I missed. This takes quite a long time. Any tips on how to make this time shorter? Thanks!

Hey Guys,
I like to part my hair in the shape of lightning, then I just straighten it if it has waves.
Another thing I like to do is a Half-Pony, where I pull half my hair back and have the rest down.
On special occasions my mom used to do this really pretty elegant bun with loose curls and then she'd put some pretty clips in it.
I also used to pull my hair back in three twists and then fastened them with barettes to the crown of my head.
Sometimes I sleep in braids so I can have pretty crimps in the morning.
I usually just keep my makeup very simple, or I don't wear any. I always wear clear, pink, or peachy gloss and my favorite eyeshadow shades would probably have to be brass, lavender, and white. I don't wear eyeliner or mascara at all cause my eyes are already lined with dark lashes.

This sounds like the common "love, hate" relationship.  Sometimes are crushes are the people who get under our skin the most.  The fact that your relationship is so hot and cold could be an indicator that you like him, but be careful because these relationships can be rather explosive.  But for now enjoy liking him, if you're feeling daring tell him how you feel and see what happens!  Good luck!

Happy early Birthday!! For your party you can pick a theme and have everyone who's coming dress up.  Your party decorations and activities can go along with your theme.  For example, pick a favorite show or movie and have everything go off of that.  You could have a Twilight bday where everyone has to dress as their fav character or wear Team Edward or Team Jacob shirts.  You could also do something fun like a white and black formal.  Everyone has to look nice and wear white or black.  You can have classy decorations and appetizers.  If you really want to make a statement, since you're the bday girl wear red!  You could also have an 80's party- bust out your spandex and play Madonna all night!   Have fun!

Would it be a bad idea to use a fresh razor to razor my eyebrows? (Plucking SO painful even tried it after a hot shower & waxing is costing some money which I don't have) Or if you have any other ideas that'd be great! My brows are getting wild Tong




Hey babe, I wouldn't use a razor so close to your precious eyeballs! It can be dangerous so I would stick to plucking. Ice your brows for a few minutes before you start and apply some lotion and it shouldn't hurt so bad.

Hey babe, you can braid you hair in sections at night while it's damp and when you wake up you'll have nice waves. I would keep the makeup natural with just a peachy blush or bronzer, some mascara and a little light pink lip gloss.

i have really thin, straight-ish, limp hair that has no volume, breaks whenever it is in a ponytail, and will not hold curls (if i use a hot iron thing it just fries my hair and curlers don't work well on my hair). in school my hair is either down or in a ponytail, but i don't like putting it in a ponytail because my hair breaks where the tie is. what should i do with my hair that won't damage it but isn't plain? thanks for your help! <3




Hey babe, try using a nourishing shampoo and conditioner to build up some strength - Panteen pro-v is a good option. Blw dry your hair to make it have some volume and that should do the trick!

OKAY, so i really like this idea of only taking 5 minutes for a daily beauty routine which is saying something because i usually take from 15 minutes to 25 minutes on my makeup. so maybe i'll use some of your tips, however, i think foundation doesn't take a long time just get a really good liquid foundation and put a dime to a little bigger size on your palm, rub it together and just rub it all over your face, it doesn't mater if its perfect because you can fix it afterward with a blending sponge. Or if you're not into such a heavy coverage, at least put on some tinted moisturizer or just moisturizer.

I like the lipgloss, the dry shampoo and the ponytail, but on the putting the lipstick to many uses I disagree. Why waste time on rubbing in lipstick on your cheek when it's going to look streaky? Instead just get some powder blush and just stroke it on your apples and onto your cheekbones, so easy! And for oily skinned girls, lipstick as a eyeshadow may become creased, trust me I know.

In the mornings I flat iron my hair cause it can get kinda wavy. my hair looks really healthy and shiny but im worried cause ive heard flat ironing almost everyday is really bad for your hair. Is this true? And if so, how can I keep my hair straight and sleek without a flatiron?




Hey girl, it isn't the best but the fact you condition and take care of your hair will prevent it from doing the kind of damage it could. Try using a shampoo for damaged hair to help moisturize it too. As for keeping your hair sleek without a flatiron? Try blow drying it with a round brush. It's the best way to straighten your hair and give it some volume sans the same direct damage a curling iron or straightener will do.

Hey girl, I don't deep condition my hair, but I'd imagine you just use a standard conditioner. Blow drying your hair straight? Use a round brush when using the hairdryer. T-zone is the area from the bridge of your nose spanning to your cheeks. Hope this helps.

Hey, so my brother is playing in a hockey tournament this weekend, and I want to be supportive of his team, but I can't go to the event because it would mean missing school on Friday, which he gets to do because he's a player. Anyway, I wanted to wear one of the team pins at school, but it's a kinda big pin (it's shaped like the state of Indiana with the team logo on it), like maybe a few inches long/wide. I'm Asian and I've got these really short eyelashes and no crease in my lids. Wearing some types of eye makeup doesn't work for me [for example, if I use eyeliner on my top lids, you can't even see it].
I would really like to have long, fluttery eyelashes, but regular eyelash curlers don't even work on my stubborn lashes! I've got a deal with my mom that if I want to wear makeup/beauty products, I'll buy them myself. I've been looking at heated curlers, but they're way too pricey! Any tips?

Is it normal for my hair to be falling out so much? Every time I run my hand through my hair, like 5 strands of hair appear in my hand. Then I have to shake it onto the floor, and it even gets so much on the floor! I just feel weird, losing hair all the time. Is this a medical thing, or something that happens to all girls? HEY GIRLS.!



ohkay well heres my morning routine.
well every morning i wake up at 6:20 and have to leave my house at 7:40
this is my morning routine:
1.make lunch (or make it the day before and wake up at 6:30-6:40).! pick out outfit.
2.get in the shower at about 6:40
3.while in the shower wash my face using st ives blemish and black head control
4.wash my hair
5.get out of shower, put on my shirt keep pj bottoms on (i hate wen my jeans are ALL CRINKLY so i wait until like 5 minutes b4 i Leave to do that) at 6:50-7:00
6.put garnier fructis soft curl cream in my hair scrunch if you please.! DIFFUSE IT.! (takes like 5 minutes) so by 7:10 im DONE with my hair. add a bow or headband or something if you wish <3
7.for makeup i only use three things
-a tiny bit of concealer (i have pretty clear skin)
-brown eyeliner maybelline queen collection in espresso
-and covergirl eye enhancers.! eyeshadow

i put the concealer on any red spots.
i put the eyeliner on my top lid starting at the beginnign of the lash line and extending til the end of the lid. i then put it on my bottom lids starting from about half way to the end (:
then i put on my eyeshadow.! this takess about 10 minutes.
so then its 7:20 and i have 20 minutes left to eat breakfast brush my teeth and walk to my bus stop.!

hoppe you liked my morning routine and that it helps you somehow.!

my BFF is really upset, she sent me a text telling me a story of what happened today and apparently what happened really upset her. Here's what she said: "I was sitting at lunch and I was sitting on one half of the table because the other half was full and everyone on the other half just happened to have a boyfriend or girlfriend, and I scooted over to sit next to my friend Abby who was on the other side and a guy said "Hey you need to move over this side is only for couples lonely people can go sit over there. and that was my breaking point I just cracked right then."

Okay, so my friends and I used to be friends with this girl, Kirsten. But then she started flip-flopping between cliques and rarely hanging out with us, not even sitting with us at lunch. My friends said she was just branching out, but I didn't beleive it. Now, she only hangs out or sits with us if she can be with this one girl in our clique, Joanna. If she doesn't get to sit by her, she plead with us to move down a seat so she can sit by her. Joanna thinks Kirsten is really her friend, but from what I've noticed, I think Kirsten is trying to steal Joanna away from us and start her own clique. She'll beg Joanna to sit with her and a couple of other girls at a different table. Sometimes Joanna will, sometimes she won't. None of my friends really like Joanna anymore, but only two agree with my theory. I'm afraid to tell Joanna because she might think I'm jelous or just want to ruin her friendship with Kirsten because I don't like her. Please help. I've lost friends before and don't want to lose one again.

Hey girl, I'm not sure on the brush, but I can tell you I love bareminerals foundation for covering blemishes and evening out my skin tone. It's a little pricy, but the products are natural and are way good for your skin.

but totally chicas, u should def try 2 get up at least a lil bit early 4 looking dazzling. or just lay everything out the night b4 (including all makeup and accessories) and set an early alarm (ok nawt that early but kinda- u still need beauty rest) so u can dress up and look better than the prettiest girl at school. but then again- if ur getting up on time 4 dressing up and u choose the right clothes, u r the prettiest girl at school. so im in my really really talk everything u know mood so hehe i g2g see ya!

Hey girl, try applying a thin line on the bottom of your upper eyelid. You don't need any on the bottom. With eyeliner, it's a matter of a lot of practice, so take your time applying it and look into a mirror.

Hey girl, just choose a song you love and sing it with confidence. Have a friend out there in the audience and look out to them as if you're singing to them and not that teacher. When it comes to performing, it's all about showing your passion and not thinking about the teacher but your love for the song.

Hey girl, hate to say it, but I am def not a fan of telling a guy flat out how you feel. Instead, try flirting with him. Make him figure it out. Drop some major hints that make it pretty obvious and see how it goes from there. If he seems to be going the same direction as you with the hints, then tell him.

Hey girl, all straighteners damage your hair, but I'd imagine they totes do. My suggestion is to research different store brands and read reviews. Different straighteners work for different girls.

Hey girl, you shouldn't get pimples from a tinted moisturizer -- just be sure you're using a good brand and you wash your face nightly. Aveeno and Purpose have great moisturizers my dermatologist recommended for me.

MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!! Ok, so my skin on my face has a little bit of a blue/ purple color on my cheeks and also my cheeks have something that looks like deep pores. How do I make my face look the same color and smooth all over? Also I don't know my skin type, I have dry areas around my nose and chin/cheeks, but my forhead and nose are normal or a little oily looking. Any cheap everyday cleaners that I should use? I currently use the Neautorgena wave, it makes my face feel really soft but when you just look at it, it looks rough. Sorry it is so long! Please help!! xoxo

 

Hey girl, I would suggest any Clean and Clear product, there stuff works great for all skin types.  As far as covering up the deep pores and skin discoloring I would go with make up if your parents allow it. Try a powder foundation. It's not as thick as the creams and it's very light so you don't feel as if you are caking on product.

ooooo good tips the thing is my advice u should stop using makeup just a little eyeshadow some eye liner and some mascara and a clear shiney lip gloss and u should take a shower in the night so u can go to sleep refreshed(going to sleep with a shower at night can reduce stress circles under ur eyes and wrinkles)and NO MAKEUP it will hurt u bad when ur older u wont be pretty anymore in ur lte 20s and up!!!!just little touch uo is good but MAKEUP CAN MAKE MORE WRINKLES ZITS PIMPLES OIL DRYNESS BUMPS AND SPOTS!!!!!!!!!
