Hi,  All of my friends are really skinny and I feel so chubby when I'm hanging out with them. Also they eat almost twice as much as I do. Am I fat? Also I want to find clothes that fit all the stores I have gone to never have clothes that really fit( the clothes are usually too long)!!

Hey girl, I'm not sure if calorie shifting really works. Even though people rave about it, I'm cautious because experts say it can have problems too - on "low calorie" days, you can feel faint, dizzy or nauseous because your body isn't getting enough nutrients. If you end up trying it, I would say to BE CAREFUL. Nutritionists say do not consume less than 1,200 calories a day. Besides, your body is still developing and growing right now ... it needs the right nutrition!

Mod-I need help I am not fit at all and I want to be skinny(but healthy). I know that I eat healthy, I just need to do excersize more. I've tried out for sports, but I never make a team and I am in dance, but I don't feel like it's doing anything for me. Also, my mom doesn't have a lot of money to sign me up for more sports. Do you have any advice??

 

Hey chica, try jogging or running around your neighborhood. Be sure to take a bottle of water and your ipod with you. Try sit ups, push ups, crunches, jumping jacks and step aerobics to get healthy. Lots of water is really neccessary so be sure to sip on that. Smile

i am fed up with my body. every one else is like super tall and skinny and they wear the lastest things and they weigh like 100 pounds at age 12. or less. they are super perfect usually and they claim that they are so fat even though they are stick figures. i am totally not that kind of girl. i am pudgy and my potbelly sticks out so much i look like im pregnant. people on the street even ask if im pregnant. that's how much i nee to lose weight. actualy, it's only my stomach. now i dont just have cellulite or an innie or my stomach droops a bit- i have a full-on potbelly that is bigger at the top and flabby at the bottom. no body else is like this. i'm twelve, btw. i love the rest of my body, but my stomach seems like it takes up most of my body weight. i've tried walking, crunches, workout buddies, running, soccer, tennis, lacrosse, basketball, swimming, even cheerleading and yoga and martial arts like juditsu and tae kwon do, i've tried eating healthy bit by bit and hiding junk food, i've tried rewards and incentives, and riding bikes too. i gain weight even if i excersise. i have no heath problems, except trichotillomania, and nothing i do ever is right for me. i have tried many 'fun' workouts and diets and ssports. i am not anorexic or bulimic. is there anythig at all that i can do????? please respond back soon!!! i am desperate!!! thank you,

Hey girl,

Sometimes trying too many different things can mess up your body. Try this: get a dry erase calendar that you can go week-by-week. Each day, write down what exercise you want to do. Stick with 2 different exercises a week and switch off each day. It will give the time for the muscles you worked the day before to rest. Write the exercise on the day, and give yourself a goal for the week to eat healthy like: no soda this week! or replace my dessert at night with something healthier like apple slices w/ a dab of peanut butter. Start off slow, and you will get into a routine. Looking at that calendar at the end of the week to see what you accomplished will keep you motivated for the next!

*MOD* i have a lot of stretch marks on my stomach, and i'm not all tht skinny. is there a way that i can shrink my stomach to get abs, and get rid of my strech marks so that i can wear a bikini? thnx

 

hey girl! there are creams at the store for stretch marks, ask your mom to help ya out. As for the shrinkage try jogging, doing crunches while watching your fave tv show, and drinking tons of water! 8 glasses a day!!!

Moderator: Since the beginning of the month starts next week, I decided that I'm going to take on a whole new life. Eat better, exercise more, get more sleep, etc. I was wondering something, though. Is there going to be a new "Healthy You Program" starting up soon? Also, I have this workout DVD called "BYOU". Ever heard of it? Well, it's all dance moves designed for teens. Do you think that instead of running outside since it's constantly snowing in my town, I could do that? Thanks (:

 

hey girl! That DVD sounds awesome-- do it! And yeah there should be a new healthy you coming out, but you could always plan out your own program and stick to it!

well when im bored i eat and i need to stop and ppl have said go to after school things i have soccer and glee but glee gets canceld alot and its only on tuesdays and soccer stop our school just opended and dosent have alot of money. ive tried just eating healthy when i get hungry eat a apple or chew gum i just cant stop eating.Ugh IM EATING NOWWw!

ok well since its the start of a new year i really want to trim down and for once fit right and confident in a bathing suit this summer!!! The only problem is i can never ever stay committed to a diet or workouts for no more than four days!!! And i feel like i have gained weight this past couple of weeks and i'm tired of feeling this way! so i REALLY NEED A WORKOUT BUDDY!!! like really bad. Someone who we can stay intouch and help each other stay on track. Someone who can help me keep on track with the excersing. in other words I'M AT MY WITS END AND NEED HELP!! Hey I'm trying to lose weight.I always try sooo hard but as soon as I see something fattning I want to eat it and I do. And when I try to do exericises I lose interest if I don't see imediate resuluts.Do you have any advice?

Try getting some of your pals to go on a health-kick with you.  If you all make a pact and a plan to eat healthy and work out, it'll make it so much more fun!  The most important thing isn't to stress about making a mistake or make yourself feel bad about your body - look at it as a way to get into shape!

I have a question about losing weight. I'm trying to eat healthier foods and get more exercise. I usually do cardio when I exercise. I was wondering what the health benefits would be of doing other things like yoga and weights, for strength? I'm almost 12, which might sound too young, but I don't think I'm too young to try to be healthy.

You need rewards to motivate you. Like, if you go this long you can get the top you like. Or if you go this long you can have two pieces of pizza. Keep in touch with your friend every day even if you don't see each other, so that she can help you keep on track.

Hey girl! Step aerobics and dancing are both great for cardio! Try a few different things like playing basketball or soccer to really help get your cardio into shape!

At night before I go to bed I always regret what I ate that day. but when I'm actually living in the day, I'm like "oh, one bite wouldn't hurt" or I think "just eat it!" or "what would one more cookie do?" I never seem to have self control. and then at night I regret it. I want to make it a new years resolution to get fit and to be healthy. I just want a good bod I can be proud of when it comes to summertime. I know its possible, and I know I can have a great bod I'm proud to show off in cute clothes and a cute swimsuit. but I can never stay on my Healthy diet. Its one of the hardest things for me to do. I have practiced self control before and I have it, but when it comes to being healthy I don't have it. please mod, help!!! it means a lot to me. ~Cassandra Smile

It's tough to kick habits, but start journaling about what you want to improve in yourself. Have one day where you can eat a cookie or a slice of pizza, but try and avoid them for the other six of the week. Make an effort to be more active and drink more water. You'll find your grove, it's just going to be tough at the start!

Okay. So i have dance class 2 times a week. One day is a hour and 30 mintues and the other is an hour and 15 mintues. Also my gym class is an hour a day. I guess that's enough excersise, but how do i stay away from the sweets so much, so i can feel good!? Thanks! Smile

 

Hey girl!

 

I always try to drink lots of water and get a good breakfast so that I don't crave sweets throughout the day. Getting lots of sleep (try 8 hours!) will also help you not want to crave sweets. Sometimes you are tired and you just feel like sugar will help!


 

But if you are still craving sweets and can't stop, ask your doc or 'rents for some nutrition advice Wink

MOD! hi! this doesnt have that much to do with being healthy but to me it does. for the past few weeks i only sleep about 4 hours at night and then ill take a nap when i get home. its not on purpose i fall asleep while studying, watching tv, reading etc. but i cant seem to stay asleep at night. im afraid it will affect me at school and im always to tired to do other things. any idea what i can do to sleep better at night?

Hey babes, I can't fall asleep if I wait TV right before bed or if I drink coffee/tea/soda. An hour before bed try to do someting quiet like reading. Don't worry about falling asleep, you will just stress out that you aren't falling asleep and you will stay awake. Also make sure that the lights are all off, its quiet and the room isnt too hot. When I was in middle school it helped me to listen to quiet classical music. xo JANA

MOD! Hey! I do cheerleading and I think it would be better if I knew how to do a split because it may be a requirement when I go to the high school squad. What kind of stretches would I use or how long should I stretch everyday? Thanks so much!

 

Hey chicky, try stretching both legs, first seperately then both at the same time. Bend your knees, and do the strattle exercise. Just work out the legs and knees. Hold all stretches for about 30-60 seconds.

i love this. ive been trying2 do it 4eva but never hav but now im in hs n hav been doing sports n when u do 1 everyday u dont watch wat u eat, care wat u weigh, or wat u look like. its fab. like i dont eat un healthy but im not like a freak like o no! i ate so much, ugh i sholdnt eat this. n my bod gets in such good shapae n every morning i wake up n look in the mirror n my stomach lookkssss sooooooo good! i hope i make the soccer team so i can continue this
