The GL staff is spilling their secrets to landing seriously gorgeous strands and giving thanks to the products that help us out in the a.m. rush.

Whether ya wanna bring out natural highlights, end frizz or land beachy waves, keep reading to find out our picks!

David Babaii Wildaid Bohemian Beach Spray is my absolute fave. Whenever I miss my beachy home I just put some of this coconut-y, beachy mist in my hair. It gives my tresses great volume, texture and hold. Best part about it? I get beach bum hair AND smell like surf, sun and summertime even when it’s snowing! I love.

-Cait, Online Assistant Editor

I'm thankful for John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette Shampoo. I'm also thankful my hair is straight and totally low maintenance—no blow drying or hair products after showering. Brilliant Brunette makes my hair super-soft and shiny, and brings out tons of natural highlights.

I’m most thankful for Image Shine Plus Hi-Gloss Mist. It’s really the only thing you need for a perfectly blown out look. It’s hard to find, but worth the hunt!

i have super curly frizzy dry hair. i have tried every product in the market but nothing seems to help. i have used anti-frizz creams, shampoos, conditioners, gel & nothing works ! help !

Hey girl! I actually use Matrix Essentials "Sleek Look" shampoo and conditioner. They come in huge bottles and last a long time! i have thick hair with natural waves, to it helps to keep hair manageable, but at the same time, it does a super good job moisturizing the hair! I really love this product so I would encourage you to check it out!

i have really thick hair and it gets really frizzy! does anyone have any helpful tips on how to make it non-frizzy? also, i do not have a lot of time in the morning before school. thanks!!!! Smile <3abby

Hey missy, try washing your hair with anti-frizz shampoo. L'oreal and Aussie have some good products. And since you don't have a lot of time in the morning, wash your strands at night. Smile

MOD MOD MOD!
I have really curly and thick hair. I use at least 3 different creams to make it not frizzy and really cute. The problem is, I'm scared of what the effects of the creams are doing to my hair. Mt friend said that on Dr.Oz, some creams and gels burn your hair. I don't want that to happen to mine, but I still want good non-frizzy hair. What should I put in? Any suggestions?

Hey girl, you're probably fine. The products you use are safe and reliable brands. Dr. Oz and shows like that tend to sensationalize perfectly safe products.

Mod- Do you know how to make any good homemade facial masks to help make clearer skin, and more?

Hey girl, there are tons out there. All it takes it a little research with Mom. Me personally? I don't know any I've tried that have been amazing. The best way to get clear skin is by keeping your skin clean morning and night.

I just discovered something awesome yesterday!
it makes the ends of my hair curl and the rest of my hair is still straight. The hair products I used were Herbal Essence (I think thats how you spell it) dangerously straight shampoo and conditioner (the pink bottle lol). THen I used three different types of brushes (while my hair was still wet) I first used a regular brush, then I used a comb, and then I used a brush with bristels (i think thats what they're called) all over the brush (like circulating it) and used it to curl my hair. then I blow dried it for about three minutes and let it air dry the rest of the way. then it just curled out and my hair looked beautiful. It stay curled for about four hours (it would've been longer if I hadn't leaned my head against a chair)!

emsha81 on 11/27/2009 3:45:32 PM

i got a straightening perm a year ago, so my hair has pretty much grown out. my mom got the instyler and i use it on days when i need 2 look nice. my hair doesn't feel fried at all and it feels so smooth and shiny and pretty, i luv it

I really feel like a new haircut. My style is so boring right now. I don't want to cut my hair any shorter and I'm hesitant about bangs (cuz if I don't like them, they'll take forever to grow out). Any ideas? Or any adivce on how to get ideas?

Hey babe, I would look in magazines for styles that you like and then take them into the salon and talk about the ones that would work for your face shape and hair type. I always like a short, choppy layered look!

MOD MOD MOD MOD ok so i have like pin straight dark brown hair with tons of colored natural highlights. I really want kind of wavy hair just to spice it up a bit. Do you have any suggestions on hair products that do that? Thanks!!!

Hey babe, you can try using a volumizing gel and tease your hair at the root to give it some lift and edge!

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD OK so I posted this yesterday but it still is not up so I'm sorry I have to ask again! Anyway, so I want to dye my hair dark purple (close to black). However, I don't know if it suits me. I have brown hair with lighter brown highlights, brown eyes, fairsh/olivish skin, I wear eyeliner and mascara everyday and have braces. I'm pretty outgoing and have never dyed my hair. Also, I like to wear all sorts of clothes (it depends what I feel like that day; example: flirty=cute floral top with skinny jeans and leather jacket tired= juicy sweats) Sorry, its so long! Please help! THANKS!

Hey girl! It's a hard color to pull off but it seems like you prob could pull it off. Give it a try or talk to a stylist about what she thinks. She can see you and your tresses so it might be easier for her or a friend to give you better advice!

MOD I have hair about chin length that naturally flips in ( curls in whatever ). But I prefer it to be straight or flip out. Are there any methods or products that will help me do this. Thanks.

Hey girl! Try using a flat iron. It gets hot enough to really work out the kinds and keep it one way or the other. Try using a little mousse to, it will help hold  your hair!

Hey girl! Look into Chi flat irons. They can be pricey but it will last forever and be so worth it! Also, pick up some straightening products by John Frieda. So good and work wonders!

MOD MOD MOD!!! Hey!! How do you curl your hair with a flat iron? My friend tried to show me how but I was super confused. Can you give me step by step instructions? Thanks!

Hey girl! It's super hard to explain through words and much easier by demonstration. But I can tell you to take small sections and clamp the straightner at the top. Then, curl it under and pull it to the end. You hair should curl up into a nice wave!

Mod Mod Mod Mod Modd.
This is some-what un-related to hair products but related at the same time.. I really want a haircut my hair has lots of split ends and is getting in my way a lot. I want to get it cut like Taylor's Momson, her medium short, choppy, layered look. And I want to dye the underneath of my hair dark purple or maybe light blonde and light red/auburn highlights. I don't know how my age is necessary to this, but everyone always puts it... So I'm 15 and my hair is a light/ dirty blonde and darker underneath than on top. I've never dyed it in my life, so I'm a little worried I might buy dye that wont work right or something. And I straighten it daily even though it fries it, but I use a heat protection spray granted that wont keep my hair from frying. But anyway, What do you think I should do? Any advice on what to tell my stylist on how to cut my hair?

Hey babe,

If you've never dyed your hair before and want to go for something a bit funky I'd go to a hair dresser and have them do it. They might be able to give you some pointers for at home care, but it's always better to have someone else dye it the first time around.  I had hot pink highlights last year and I'm really glad that I didn't do them myself. When you go to the sylist, bring a picture of Taylor with you.

MODDD
i need some new hairstyles. I usually wear my hair down & straightened or in a pony. my hair is like the fine line between wavy & curly.. & it's like 2 1/2 inches past my shoulder with layers to the middle of my ear & sidebangs (so i can't do 1 or 2 braids/ low pony). & if this helps, its "dark blonde" & my face is ovalish & my personality is.. bubblyish, animal lover, hyper, ect.. What are some easy styles that i can do? thanks

Hey girlie,

Try doing a braid across the front, wearing it half up, using a mouse to keep the waves while you wear your hair down. Add accessories like clips or scarves or headbands.

MOD,
do you know what can make hair smell like perm for NO REASON?!? My hair has smelled like that for a few days now (It took me till today to finally figure out where the smell was coming from) and I haven't done ANYTHING different, besides trying to eat healthier. Is there perhaps a certain food that you eat that can make that happen?? IT SMELLS HORRIBLE please help!
-cheerleader2478

Hey babe,

Sometimes hair gels, frizz relaxers, or other hair products can make your hair smell that way. If you use a product refrain from using it for a few days to see if it goes away. Or, it might be your shampoo or conditioner making your hair smell and you just never realized it until recently.

Mod- hi! im getting a haicut next week and i love lauren conrads long bob cut, the only problem is its above the shoulders and my hair right now is almost down to the middle of my ribcage. im scared to cut it but i really reallly like that haircut. what should i do?? thanks a bundle

Hey girl!  I cut off eleven inches to donate it once, so I know it's a big change.  But if you really like the look, ash your stylist what he/she thinks, and go for it!  Even if you're not that crazy about it, hair grows back, so it won't be permanent.  Best, Kristen <3

Mod, Sorry to bug again but Im getting my haircut tomorrow, and im not sure if I should still grow out my bangs?? I have an oval face, but its just i can never keep care of my bangs and then when they grow to long and get in my eyes, my mom freaks at me and says that they look stupid! How can I style bangs?

hey girl!  You can try blow-drying them after you shower with a styling hair brush so that you can tame them to go the way you want.  I used to dry mine so they swept to the side.  You can also try a styling mousse or a little hairspray to keep them where you want them.  Try both out and see what works best for you.  Good luck, Kristen <3
