My pad always shifts!

My pad always moves around and I feel like I’m going to leak. Is there anything else I can do to help it stay in place? Please don’t say wear tampons, I don't like them.

-Pad Problems

Hey girl!

No one wants to have leakage during their period. It’s important to feel comfy! Here’s the 411 on the best pad protection and some other options so that you feel safe.

Your pad shouldn’t move that much because they have sticky backs, but pads with wings are extra sturdy. The flexible wings are sticky and wrap around your panties, so the pad won’t move at all. You can find any size pad with wings at your local drugstore.

It’s best to change your pad every 2-4 hours. If you are scared of leaking, then you can change it more often. The decision is up to you, but if you have a heavier flow you might want to change it more frequently.

There is always the option of tampons. Which can be hard to get used to, but with practice they get easier. If you break in tampons, then you can double up with a pad and tampon for extra protection.

Good Luck!
Eryn

*MOD MOD!
hii. alright, so im going to an idoor water park this weekend, and i have my period. I'm not sure what i should do. I don't want to wear a tampon because i've never used one before. I'm wearing shorts over my baithing suite bottoms but i'm still kinda of scared if it'll leak. Will it come out in water? and if it doesn't, how long will it take for it to leaak out again when i'm out of water? please help mee! thaanks(:

Hey babe, wearing shorts will not stop you from leaking. Once you get a pad wet, it won't stop you from leaking at all because it will already be full of water. the only way to swim safely while you have your period is to wear a tampon. try one out before you have to go to the water park and see how it feels. if you read the instructions carefully and relax while you're putting it in it won't hurt at all! if you're still too nervous, just tell your friends you're not feeling well and hang out outside the water.

extremly embarressing period moment!!!!!!
Okay today I accidentally dropped my changepurse with my pad in it in the other sevetnh grade classroom all the boys found out and now I'm mortified, it was at the end of the day of school today and I haven't heard much about it, but what if they make fun of me or look at me weird or be creeped out or never forget about it HELP!!!!!!!!!

Hey babe, while they may be grossed out or amused by it now, they'll have to learn eventually that all girls get their period. Hopefully they'll be mature about it, but if not just remember that they're too immature to be worth worrying about for now! Anyone who makes a big deal out of it will be really embarrassed about it later. You, on the other hand, don't have anything to be embarrassed about because it's totally normal!

I don't wear tampons either. They sound painful. The only thing I can think is to wear the ones with wings.

1niji-girl2 on 1/19/2010 7:36:32 PM

MMMMMMMMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!! i get discharge and my mom lets me wear her panti liners but they get all scrunched at the middle. does that happen with larger pads?

Hey girl! Sometimes. It really depends on the brand and thickness. Try out some different ones and see which you like best!

MOD!*****
My mom lets me wear tampons but she thinks you cant go swimming at all when your on you period, not even with tampons. I tried to tell her you can but she wont listen. I always have to miss out on going swimming with my friends. What can I do? Thanks.

Hey girl! Ask her to talk to a doctor about it... tell her you can go swimming on your period. Olympic swimmers do it all the time.

MOD MOD MOD!! I almost 4got, my mum said NOT to use a tampon thingy because it gives you a BAD stomach ach when it gets fat because the blood goes on it, and im not sure because my friend (me and her are the ONLY ones on our period, i had it first =(.) doesnt use them, my mum says not to, and pads really are comfy, but everyone here says to use them, what's your advice?

Hey Girl, Tampons can be a little tricky. Once you insert them, they do expand inside of you to absorb everything. They should not hurt!.. if it hurts, you put it in wrong.

If you are ok with using pads right now, I would stick with it. Maybe when it gets to be closer to summer, you could practice with tampons so you will be ready for those pool parties!

Hey girl! Maybe. Discharge is a normal part of being a female... it doesn't necessarily mean you will be getting your period soon.

I'm very worried because i haven't gotten my period yet and the rest of my friends have and i need to now why i haven't gotten my period

sweetcandy on 12/6/2009 2:23:09 PM

Pads are nasty for me...but at the same time i feel more comfortable. Because most of the time, i cant feel that i have one on. Tampons i do use. But nto often. Just whenever i go to a place where i know i cant or dont feel comfortable changing.

Glamorgirl2010 on 11/29/2009 4:32:18 PM

I just switched to tampons and they are SO much better than pads. Pads kind of feel like diapers. Yuck! Smile

ilovegiraffes45 on 11/27/2009 5:06:29 PM

I agree tampons are wierd feeling and pads do slide around with me too but i got the wings and now they stay were they need to

when am i going to get my period?? im 12 and ive had discharge for 15 months and worn a padded bra for 21 months. when am i gonna get it??

carolinerr on 11/25/2009 11:40:16 AM

If you dont want them moving around you need to wear the ones with wings and if you play sports I think its best to wear a tampon because it cant move around. You just have to get used to them, I thought it would take a while but it didnt, except putting them in was kind of weird at first because of how you have to do it. Its just part of growing up.

luckykel on 11/22/2009 10:11:47 PM

I hate tampons cuz they hurt when you put them in and take them out!! they make me feel all wierd having one in!!

dancinsista101 on 11/22/2009 5:04:43 PM

MOD MOD MOD I've had discharge for like, two years. I am prepared for my period but it just won't come. My mom got her period around my age now, so what do i do? Do you think it'll be coming soon? I'm just scared it'll pop up in the wrong place, wrong time. Help! Thanx!

Hey girl, periods can be soo tricky so we never know when they are coming, so because it is a random thing, it's important you get prepared with some pads and tampons. Hey girl! You can find more info under periods. You can always check with a doc to make sure everything is ok.

iluhvtodance on 11/21/2009 2:24:29 PM

Yeah, Tampons can lead to an infection. no matter what your age is if, you leave them in too long. that's why I have no interest, nor have I ever used tampons. check out my profile girls.

sixteengirl93 on 11/21/2009 1:50:06 PM

i don't mind either way, but tampons do need a little getting used to. don't worry! you'll get used to them after a few tries!

MOD
I just got my first period today, just told my mom by e-mail, and I'm going to an overnight thing tonight. FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey girl! You don't have to go if you don't feel comfortable. You should talk it over with your mom. You will be ok, just bring everything that you might need.
