How can I get cute hair when I'm all bundled up?

i curl, brush, double shampoo and every possible thing i can do to my hair but it still is puffy i like puffy hair but not the extreme. My mom says because im half black, but nothing works i even try eveything everyone says but nothing works how can i get the puff out of my hair.plz help me!!
