7 reasons going to prom with your girls totally rocks

Scoring a date to your school’s spring dance is awesome, true, but there is quite possibly nothing more fun than boogying the night away with your besties. We’ve got 10 reasons why heading to prom (or any dance, really) with your girls in tow totally rocks.

How do I look? Fab, of course. But the best part is that it’s totally up to you. The color of your dress doesn’t need to match his vest and the height of your heels doesn’t depend on his stature. Bring on the stilettos.

Silly pictures. Forget those cheesy prom poses. Funny faces, leaps into the air, your best dance moves—we’re capturing them all on camera.

Open dance card. Got your eye on a few good-looking guys? When the inevitable slow dances are played, you’re not limited to just one guy. Grab a dance with your BGF, your older bro, your cousin, your crush—whomever you want!

Inside jokes. You know that moment when someone says something totally normal, but you catch your bestie’s eye and can’t keep the giggles at bay? We live for those moments!

No awkward convo by the punch bowl. After comparing notes on discharge and period probs, you’re totally over the whole awkwardness thing.

Crazy dancing. Come on, were you really going to bust your totally out-there dance moves in front of a date? When you’re with your BFFs when your favorite song comes on, you can rock it 100 percent your way. Just be sure to clear some space!

Sleepovers. Ditching your date for your girlies once the chaperones flip on the lights isn’t exactly polite. But heading to the dance with your babes and saying buh-bye once the party’s over? Unheard of! Hope ya packed your sleeping bag, sweetie.

What do YOU think is the best reason to go to a spring dance with your sistahs?

My BFF wanted to get back at her ex BF so her, our other friend, and I made up a fake Facebook account acting as her BF. Today, my BFFs friend texted me saying " Jordan I know John is really you, Maeve, and Addison." I sort of had to tell her that it was me, my BFF, and Maeve, and now if her friend tells my BFF she'll get mad at me and hate me and I don't want her to! What should I do? Please help!
Jordan

hey! you should apologize and promise your friend it'll never happen again, that's the most you can do. good luck!

I go to an all girls school and my bestie took a guy-daten(to our shock-horror) and well, he ended up loner-ed with all the other guys in the corner while all the girls danced on the floor to "memorable songs" think: This song was playing when we went dress shopping, my fave song, Allie fell over her high heels during this song last dance, this was playing during TGIF, etc.

At my school we don`t really have Prom except for the grade 12s. But we`re having an end of the year dance but usually our dances are super crowded and noisy. I have anxiety and I really wanna go but I`m scared I might freak out. Any tips?

hey girlie,

I would definitely suggest going with a friend that you know you can count on if you suddenly have an anxiety attack--bring someone with you that you know would be willing to step outside with you if it gets too overwhelming in there.  Don't worry--I would definitely suggest trying it out, and if it's not fun for you at the dance, then just go somewhere else! Have an "alternate" party and just chill at an arcade or a good restaurant with some friends.  I think the best part of these events is just having fun with your friends at the end of the year! So don't let the pressures of dances or people ruin your chances of just having a blast! Smile

mod! ok im 15 i did not think i would face this till my jr year im a freshman. my best friend had sex with her boyfried on 6 months for the first time. i cried about it when i found out and asked my mom for advice she said the best i can do is be there for her. but she doesnt need me there i explained to her why i was upset and began to cry i told her my mom was only a sophmore when she got pregnant and she thinks nothing is gonna happen to her but most likely somthing will. this whole time im balling. and she is just telling me sex is no big deal its just sex. ive been raised in a family where teenage girls who are pregnant would come stay with us and we would help them. its not like i told to not have sex i told her though that it isnt something you can say is no big deal ...sorry if this isnt suppost to be posted i just dont know what to do. im treating her like i normaly do, a good friend. but now every little thing i do she tries to get mad at me for it.help ):

Hey girl, first of all, I'm so sorry to hear about your sitch. Trust me, when I was in high school, I saw that happen to people I knew and I couldn't look at them the same way. It was really hard for me at first to accept. But then I realized it was their decision, not mine, and they had to make the right one on their own. There was no reason to treat them differently; they were still the same person. I think what's important for you to do is a) accept your friend is going to make her own choices even if you don't agree with them, and that's not going to change, b) just reiterate the importance of using protection if your friend is going to do that and let it drop from there, c) stick to your own values. Don't let her change the way you view this; it's the same courtesy she expects from you. Hang in there and know with time it'll get better. It's just about stepping back and letting go.

xoxo
