Dear Lucky,

I ’m in a new school, and a popular girl told me the people I hang out with are losers. They’re nice, but I don’t want to be labeled the dorky new girl. I never cared before what people thought, but now I do!


Anyone who has seen Mean Girls knows there are serious downsides to popularity. “Popular” girls often resort to cruel tactics to demonstrate their so-called superiority. This might not be the case with the girl at your school, but she did call your current friends “losers.” Not the nicest.


Like Lindsay Lohan’s character, you could be invited into the popular crowd, only to later get pushed out and left without real friends. So choose friends based on qualities you think are important, not according to the cafeteria seating. Find girls who are loyal, fun, interesting and caring. True pals give you much more happiness than a glimmer of popularity.

HEY GIRL!! Im in the 6th grade..some of the popular kds say I hang out with losers..(Im one of the populars..BE YOURSELF!!) And I said there not losers..there my friends! If you spent 1 day with you..you would know that there awesome! Youre the real loser here! There not losers if you like them..there nice to you..and you have a great time hanging out with them! Moral is: Who cares what people think? There your friends!!

Ok STEREOTYPING much! Not all popular people are mean! Most popular people are liked bcuz they are nice!!! That means that they're not mean. Im probably a little bit more popular than average, but Im pretty normal. I'm friends with the "populars" or whatever YOU people call them! They are REAL people! Not actors in a movie! Yes SOME populars are mean, but only like 20% of them!! This is the most stereotypocal and predijust thing I have read from this site. I so do not trust GL anymore!!!!

im popular, but to be honest, friends are friends.
to me it doesnt matter what color or what shape, whether they like math or football or what ever. it doesnt matter much to me! i jsut like friends who are nice, not boring, and can get along well with my other friends

I use to have this crush on a boy, jake, but then i found a kinder, sweeter boy who asked me out, ian!
I use to have loads of fun with jake and we messed around and he was like one of my best mates i asked him out but he said no and we just carried on being friends.
But now eversince he found i was going out with ian he wont talk to me at all, or joke around in lessons or even say hi!
What should i do because i really dont want to lose him as a mate?

Bummer!  Try asking Jake what is bothering him.  It might be hard to get him to be honest at first, but keep trying.  Guys have feelings too - he could feel like he's being replaced, or he could have realized he made a mistake by saying no, or any number of things.  But if you really wanna keep him as a friend, it's worth telling him how much you value him and how much you miss how things used to be!

Hey. That is what popular people say to me, and then i stoped hanging out with them and i felt bad. So you sould stay with your friends not those popular people, who cares what they think! Popular people just act all stuck up and preppy and they draw to much attetion to themselves so actually, there the losers!

here's my 2nd prob--
so my guy friend/crush recently got a cellphone so today in ACE class he asked me if i had a phone so i said yes and then i heard him ask a mutual friend (she was sitting right next to us) if she could get my number and someone else's number for him. earlier he texted me so we talked for a while about cellphones and then he had to leave for bball. thing is, i'm not sure anymore whether he sees me as just a friend or a potential gf. it's hard to tell since he's a flirt (but not a player). sometimes he flirts with me, sometimes not. i don't want to tell him how i feel since what would be waay awkward.how can i get him to see me as a girl he could date? (like i told you yesterday i'm not the best flirt lol!)

Hey girl, thanks so much first of all. Here's my suggestion: I'd try asking him hypothetically where he sees your relationship going. Try hinting to him that you see him as boyfriend material and you're looking for someone. Once you plant seeds like that, it's up to him to act one them and let your relationship grow.

i have 2 probs but to make it easier for you i'll post them 1-at-a-time.
so i have a cold and although its not too bad, i lost my voice and i can't talk-all i can do is squeak...yea not good. and my throat hurts whenever i do attempt talking. do you know any cures for laryngitis? my bff might come over tomorrow and i don't know sign language. i've tried not talking and drinking lotsa water but so far no progress. can you help me out? thanks i appreciate it! Hey girl, try resting your voice, drinking plenty of fluids, and sucking on some cough drops. Your throat just needs time to heal and unfortunately there's no miracle treatment. You can also start gargling salt water to clear your sore throat a bit.

Hello, I could use a lot of advice right now if possible. (:
Okay, so basically I have this friend and shes EXTREMLY boring, like she barely ever talks, and when she does its about something extremly random, and its just weird and can get really annoying, and make me and my friends mad.
Also, we dont usually include her in plans we make, because shes so boring, and she doesnt talk or do anything, shes not fun to hang around with. After writing this, Yeah. I feel bad.. and like a bad friend for not including her, and having to call her boring behind her back.. but it just bugs me and my friends so much.. I sometimes think if i should like not completly let her go, but kinda slowly take her out of my life.. because somedays i cant handle it. but she doesnt have that many friends, so i do not know what to do. and its not like i can change her.

There's this girl who kept following me around because she wanted to be my friend. But she tugged me, made up stories about boyfriends and other stuff. So I felt like she was stalking me. I told her I don't want to be her friend because friends don't make up boyfriends all the time, make up stories and tug people. And now I feel like I broke her heart. But anyways almost everyone knows her 9 the students) think she is a stalker and they call her it instead of she. Idk she really got on my nerves. Do you know what to do on this situation. I told my dad and grandma and friends they think I did the right thing and I took advice from one of my friends to tell her that I dont want to be a friend to her and told the reasons why and seriously do friends lie? They are supposed to be trusted but she wasn't the type for me to have a healthy friend relationship what can I do ? sry this might waste your time.




Hey girl, this isn't wasting my time at all. I agree with your 'rent and grandma on this one: you did the right thing telling her and distancing yourself. Be polite to this girl and feel good that you had the guts to tell her the truth. This girl can't solve her problem until she knows she has one and hopefully it'll be a lesson for her to step back, stop lying and to cling less to people.

there's this really cute guy that i'm friends with, and i really like him. he has all of the personality traits that i want in a boyfriend, too. i thought he liked my friend, but it turned out it wasn't true and that they're just really good friends. he is a flirt (but he's not a player and he tones it down when he's in a relationship), so it's hard to decode whether he likes me back or not, but from how he treats me, it's a good bet that he sees me as a possibility for a gf and not just some pretty face. prob is, i'm not the best flirt around the guys i like. i can talk to him, but it's not the kind of talking that helps you get closer to gf status, it's more of the typical just-friends conversations. i'll admit it--i'm not that super bold girl who can walk up to any guy and let him know how hot he is. what are some flirting tips that'll work for me and help me snag this cutie?

One of my friends (I'll call her E) can be really mean sometimes. She thinks it's super funny and stuff, but it's not! One time, during an over night thing at my church, E took my sleeping bag and slept on it. Not only is she super heavy, she wouldn't let go, and she had her own sleeping bag! I'm tired of her doing these little things. I can't change who she is, because she won't listen to anybody. It's like E thinks she's the best girl in the world.
Another friend (I'll call her J) can really just be annoying. She always needs to know stuff. Back when we were having our band concert, she kept begging me to tell her what time the concert started, even when it had been on the board for months! It's like J thinks the world revolves around her. She thinks that everybody will always be there to tell her whatever she needs. Well, they aren't.
ANOTHER friend (I'll call her S) tells my secrets sometimes. Last year, I told her who my crush was, and right after lunch, she shouted it for the whole class to hear! Also, S talks nonstop. I know I talk a lot too, but I never get to open my mouth when I'm near her.
Can you please help me with what to do with these friends?




Hey girl! It sounds like its really bothering you.  How about trying to have a heart-to-heart talk with them and let them know you're really annoyed and just bothered by how they're acting.  If they're not going to be mature, try hanging out with other girls you enjoy being around!
