I can't get rid of my pimples and blackheads

 
My mom pops them, but it hurts! I’ve tried over-the-counter medicines, but they don’t help. Is there a way for my face to clear up?

We’ll say it again…and again and again. Picking blemishes is bad, bad, bad! It can cause the infection to go deeper into the skin and even leave permanent scarring.

The first line of acne attack is to use a wash with salicylic acid, and follow up with benzoyl peroxide cream. If that doesn’t work, you should see a dermatologist, who can prescribe a retinoid cream. These potions decrease oil, while peeling away dead skin cells that cause blackheads (that’s not dirt!).

If topical creams don’t work, the dermo will probably give you oral antibiotics or an oral retinoid called Accutane. Whew!

There are lots of choices for clearing up skin. The latest thing? Laser and light treatments that zap pores, keeping them from ever producing pimple-causing oils again—and without side effects. The catch? Most laser treatments cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.

I had three pimples in the same area on my nose!My mom keeps telling me to pop them, and I know your not supposed to do that.My mom popped one and now I have a hole in my skin. What do I do about that scar and the other two?




Hey girl--




1. To treat the popped pimple, apply a disinfectant such as iodine or rubbing alcohol. Then promise to leave it alone. 




2. Resist the urge to pop. Wash with a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. To help the pimple go away faster, apply a very warm wash clothe to it-- the white head will emerge faster

OK, girls here's what you gotta do for black heads or dark spots around your nose-get a really rough washcloth and scrub the area really really good with HOT water and some sort of facial scrub like clean and clear's morning burst scrub, then rinse with COLD water still scrubbing, directly afterward use a cotton swab to apply rapid clear toner( it's in a cylindrical yellow bottle in most stores) it will burn like hell but the result is amazing!

I have the worst skin ever! I went to the derm and had to get 3 different prescriptions to take care of my acne, but it is working. I would recomend going to the doc to anyone, because they do of course no best.

MOD MOD MOD OK, so I have this freakish bump on my arm that won't go away. I've had it for as long as I can remember, and I don't know what it is. It is pinker than the rest of my skin, and it's not any kind of acne. I'm not sure if it's a wart, because it's been there a LONG time. Any ideas on what it is?

MODMODMOD I have over active sweatglands in my armpits(i know its gross i hate it!!)and i apply ALOT of deodorant in the morning. Through the day i just tend to sweat a bunch and then i have pit stains. I've avoided wearing white and always kept a jacket on hand (i just push up the sleeves to stay cool) to keep people from seeing. Is there anything i can do to make it stop??

 

 

Hey chickadee! I'd check with a doc to see if there's any kind of clinical strength deoderant or anything that can help it. Until then, though, I'd try wearing layers to help conceal it. Maybe, wear a tank top or cami underneath your shirt to avoid the stains Smile

I'm on Accutane. It's freaking magical. It's a five month treatment that shuts down your oil glands. My face is beautiful and I'm only on the 2nd month!! I was actually on the Accutane for my back, I had tons of zits. But, now my back is almost prefect, I only have 1 or 2 zits left. But, the only bad thing about Accutane is that you have to get your blood drawn once a month to make sure youre healthy and your skin and lips can get really dry. I hated needles, but i got over it. I'd do anything for clear skin......

I totallly agree!!! my mother always pick my pimples and i just hate it!! she wont listen to me since i told her to stop touching my face because if she does it'll damge my skin. sometimes mothers have to listen to their children and understand.like right now i have tiny holes on my face from the previous zits she popped.

So, i've always had acne...but it never REALLY bothered me until now, that im in high school. Anyways, So homecoming is coming up next weekend, and i really want to clear most of my acne by then. but i mostly want to focus on around my lips. My lips are LITERALLY lined with blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. Picking the blackheads and whiteheads hurt, and no matter what i've tried, i cant get the acne to go away. What can i do!? I cant afford to by any medicnes, let alone go to a dermo. HELPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 

Hey girl, picking them isn't a good idea. What you should do is check out options in a drugstore that aren't too pricey and see what they can do for you, or if you can just check in with your doc, they might be able to give you some ideas too. Hope this helps!

Hey chica! I would use a spot treatment as soon as you feel a blemish coming on. Try Terminator 10 acne spot treatment. You find it for cheap at drugstores, and stores like Target and Walmart. It works wonders! Smile

I have this wierd bump that is lighter than my skin tone, on my wrist. I think it's a pimple, but its pretty big, and it doesn't hurt. I've had it for 3 years. During the 3 year i picked it, a lot, and I think there is a permanent scar. Now I wear bracelets all the time, or longsleeved shirts. Is the pimple permanent?

Hey girlie, there are lots of ways to get rid of those scars. Drink a lot of water to keep your skin hydrated. You can put aloe vera, honey or olive oil on your scars to help make them fade quicker. And you can rub ice cubes on them. Just remember no nails next time and use something like Neosporin on the blackhead right after you pop it to prevent scarring.

OMG!!!!!!! i found this company called "lush"! all of their products are made from organic vegtables and fruit! the products actually work too...after the first use the redness in my skin and pimple size was reduced AND my skin was super soft! best skin care i have ever used. in my opinion it works better than proactive and clinique for people who have dry-combination skin! my skin absolutely glows now!!!!!! love it

Okay I've had acne for 3-4 years now! It's FINALLY starting to go away,, thank God. I've been to a dermatologist, and he only made my skin worse. He gave me topical cream, pills, the works and I think this is what caused my acne to stay so long. I'm not telling anyone to not go to a dermmatologist, just saying it didn't work for me.
What IS making my acne go away is drinking lots of water and green tea, and eating healthy. I also use a clinique face wash and the lotion from cliniques 3 step acne line.

Hope this helps, but it might not because everyone's skin is different Smile

MOD MOD MOD! My skin looked great for the past month or so. And usually I only have 2 or 3 zits on my whole face. but i got a major breakout the past week. It looks really bad. And every day for school I put a bunch of coverup on.
Can u tell me what might be the cause for the breakout?

Hey girlie, I'm so sorry it sounds like your really ready to do something to help your skin. I think it might be best for you to go see a dermatologist skin can be really finicky and sensitive sometimes you should go to the doctor and see what your skin needs.

MOD I don't really have pimples anymore( I'm 14) maybe like 3 or 4 small pimples, but I have acne scars. I have them along the sides of my face by my ears and on my forehead. I have dark skin, so it's not THAT bad, but I'd like to clear it a bit before school starts in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions? Thanks!

 

Acne scars are a total bummer - I mean, you already had to deal with pimples, right?  The good news is, they will naturally fade with time.  You might want to read this:  http://www.girlslife.com/post/2008/08/01/Acne-Scars.aspx. The next best thing is microdermabrasion, a treatment that can be done at your dermatologist's office.  And remember, never pop your pimples - that makes them more likely to scar.

around the fourth of july, i got a zit on my nose, and it didnt go away, i tried doing everything (including on the spot treatment) and it didnt go away. i didnt dare pop it though. now the zit is gone, but where it used to be on my nose, there is a nice big red spot on it. it looks like a zit, but it's just a red circle. how do i get rid of it? how do i cover it up? thanks MOD, :]]

 



Hey! Sounds like the zit left a scar. Most blemishes will do this, but you can cover the scar up with a concealer. Find a concealer that matches your skin tone and apply it on the area. Some dermatologists may also be able to give you a lotion that will fade scars. Smile

Hey girl, you can use foundation or concealer to even up your color. In general, however, I'd stick to gentler methods: sounds like those remedies massively dried out your skin.

A pore-refining mask {which you can pick up at any pharmacy can definitely lessen the appearance of the pores on your nose! Cleansing your skin with a gentle face wash every day might also help.

Hey girl, after you work out you could take a shower or at least be sure to wipe that area with an antibacterial wipe or something like Stridex, little wet pads with salicylic acid (an acne-fighting ingredient)! You could also see a dermatologist to see if they have any suggestions.

if i were u depending on ur age dont use epiduo cuz that makes ur face burn and peel just wait till u get older just wash ur face every nite morning and even put like a cream or lotion towards where in the morning ur face will be fresh and also what i learn if u dont pick at ur zits they are not as noticable as u think

 

P.S. I just wanted to say when I said masks in the last comment, I meant face masks that harden and you peel/wash off of course, not like actual masks! Just clarifying, Lol.

There is a product I use called Acne Free i bought it at Target and it is the best acne stuff I have ever bought. I have boughten Proactive and to tell you the truth Acne Free worked 10 times better. It has a wash,toner, and then cream and you use it in night and morning but give it a try because trust me it works.

I'm sorry to hear about the breakouts!  I would definitely recommend reading this:    http://www.girlslife.com/post/2010/02/01/skin-pimples-blackheads.aspx.  It says that what you need to take care of acne is a combo of a wash with salicylic acid and a benzoyl peroxide cream.  You'll have to do some label-reading at the drugstore, but there are lots of products out there that have these ingredients.  xoxo

It all depends on what works for you! You have to give different brands a chance.  Next time you're at the grocery store, or a drug store, take a walk down the face cleansing aisle.  Look for products that help fix your specific problems (blackheads, oil, pimples)!

my face is almost cleared up but i always have a bunch of bright red zits in between my eyebrows! I have face soap and eveything and it works everywhere else! Why don't they go away?is there anything i can do? I dont op pimples, i no that has consequences but what can i do? Theres not a whole lot you can do. Youre at an age where your face is going to break out and not always look its best. I wash my face every morning and night and i still break out a ton. So just put on some concealer and dont worry about it. It happens to the best of us Smile xoxo kerra

Hey girl, I hope this is helpful to you, because I know its helpful for me. When ever my acne and the such kicks up, I mix sugar and water to make a paste and I massage it into my skin. When it feels like its tightening my skin, or before, I rinse it all off with luke warm water, and after a few uses {not on the same day} my skin is noticably softer.

and i have to say my pimples are really going away
and my skin looks way better and feels softer.
it was cheap too because i got in sale for 5 buck for each

Hey chica, my favorite product in the world is the Body Shop's seaweed deep cleansing facial wash. It's a scrub that treats acne, and makes your skin feel great! Whenever I use it, my skin always looks a lot better.

A TONN of products have salicylic acid in them.  You just have to look closely at the ingredients list on the back of the bottle/container and see if its listed.

Idea to get rid of blackheads really quick:
1. boil water- PARENT SUPERVISION!!!
2. hold your head over it with a towel around- you should just get steam, NOTHING else.
3. gently push them out with q-tips.

hey girlie, i don't know that there's a way to get rid of a breakout overnight. I'm also not sure there's a substitute for neosporin, just buy some at a drugstore!

Hey girl, it's not a good idea to pop your pimple period — it may lead to more. I'd keep your face clean and use an acne spot treatment cream.

I use Aveeno Daily Cleansing Clear Complexion. It worked for the first few months, and then it stopped working! I wash my face 2 times a day, and it doesn't help! Do you know any face washes for under $12 that will help my face? It's not oily and it's not dry, so it's like perfect, but I need a better face wash that would be available around  MO. Like I'm going to the mall on Thursday or Friday so like even West County mall in Chesterfield would work. But any ideas? Mod!

Hey chica, it's actually bad to pick pimples. It can be tempting, but it's best to leave them alone to heal on their own, so that you don't make it worse, or cause an infection from the bacteria and germs on your hands.

Hey girly, if you can get to the store, Terminator10 is a great spot treatment for pimples! It's really cheap, and you can find it in an orange tube at the drugstore, or Target/Walmart with all of the face washes and stuff. If you don't want to buy anything, some people swear by putting a dot of toothpaste on their pimple or zit before bed at night to dry it out. Also, avoid touching your face alot, and avoid wearing heavy makeup until then! Smile

As for the shiny skin, you could use oil blotting pads or use face wipes or cleansers like round Stridex or Oxy pads. Make sure to wash your face twice a day (once in the shower and either the morning/night, when you don't take a shower). For the acne scars, I don't think there's much you can do except for wait and try to prevent other acne. If you feel confident about yourself and have a great attitude, nobody will even notice them! Try something fun with your hair or a cute necklace to draw the attention somewhere else.

Hey girl, maybe you could try oil blotting pads. Tuck some into your purse and then discreetly use them in the bathroom. Also make sure that your makeup is non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging) and also oil-free. You might also want to try a dry powder/mineral makeup to help avoid shine.

my pimples wont go away ! Ive went to the dermatologist and they gave me pills to take for two weeks i took them and nothing happened he said to take them until Ive ran out ( its been like a month and a half ) and i still have my acne and previous scars ! help !

 

Sadly, dealing with acne is not an instant thing! It takes a while for it to go away.
Unfortunately I've had acne for years and have tried various things, so
I understand. I think the pills don't start working for about two
weeks, so maybe you could ask your dermatologist if you could get more,
or try a different prescription. He should be able to help you with
your acne and maybe suggest some creams or something to try. Make sure
that you are washing your face daily and doing whatever the
dermatologist says to do. Make another appointment so he can check on
how you're doing. Also, getting enough sleep and trying to be stress-free are helpful.

hey girl that's not so common, but ears are skin too and need to be cleans. Try using your fave blackhead scrub on your eyes, too, but I'm sure they arent that noticable. So other than cleaning them each night, I wouldn't touch them or bother them too much.

Hey girlfriend, that could have something to do with the type of products you're putting in your hair. So for a few weeks refrain from putting any kind of hairspray, gel or mousse in your hair and see what happens.
