What Gets Rid of Scars?

I’ve heard that putting vitamin E on scars will help them fade.

Is there a way to get rid of them?

“Scars will never go away, but their appearance can be improved dramatically. The younger you are, the more time a scar has to diminish and disappear,” says Dr. James Spencer, a dermatologist at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. Doctors can use a laser to shrink the scar tissue.

“You can even move the scar to a more unnoticeable place—good for facial scars. With raised or indented scars, smoothing procedures even out the surface of the skin.” As for the wonders of vitamin E? “It does nothing,” says Dr. Spencer.

my mom won't let me shave my arms, she says it's unnatural and wierd, but my arms are REALLY hairy (even compared to my guy friends!) and it's embarassing and ugly. how can i convince her to let me wax or shave them?? thanks 4 ur help

Shaving will make your hair grow back darker and thicker. Waxing may be the best option. Try explaining to her that you're embarrassed, (explain why: it's dark, thick, etc...), and if she hears you out she'll be more likely to change her mind!

Try colored sharpies, adding some pictures related to the text (you can print some off google images), try using construction paper to make square shapes and brighten up the corners or the edges. Good luck!

MOD ok, i just started shaving my pubic hair for the first time today. should i shave it regularly? or just whenever i'm going to be wearing a bathing suit or what?

Hey girl,

Shaving pubic hair isn't necessary to do every day, it all depends on how often you need to or want to. But shaving it every day can irritate the skin. So make sure you shave it whenever you feel you need to, but don't go overboard! That skin down there can be sensitive.

Whenever I shave my bikini line I get those annoying, itchy, red bumps less than 24 hours after I shave. I want to just feel confident in my bathing suit. Is there anything I can do to prevent those bumps? I've tried shaving with the hair, but that doesn't work. Help! Thanks

i have a bunch of scars around my knee, because i had to get surgery on it a couple of years ago. they were annoying at first, but they've faded a lot now-and trust me, after a while, you barely even notice them .

i dove into a pool last march and i broke every bone in my face. i split my lip open and the plastic surgon took out my stitches too early. i had a really bad scar and he told me to put Mederma on it. its like this really amazing cream for scars! my scar lookd so bad and after a summer of putting it on it worked so well fading it. justa suggestion

Hey chica, when it comes to shaving down there, it all depends on how much hair you have. If you only have a little stuble, then you can just pluck or trim, but if you have a lot you should shave. First you have to pick out shaving cream. Be sure you get the right kind for your skin and don't use soap. Don't use a cheap razor because they can cause nicks and scratches, instead buy one with multiple blades, like Schick Quattro. Trim hair down first and then take a hot shower, after the shower dab on shaving gel. Start shaving your legs, first going in the same direction as the hair, and then the opposite direction. Rinse the blade when you're done, and pat yourself dry with a towel. Hope this helps!

I have this huge scar in my leg....I fell in a grill ( those tiny portable ones) when I was 4. And as I grew it sorta stretched......
Nothing helped get rid of it some I'm comfortable with it.

Hey Mod-
I have plantar's fasciitis in both of my feet. Its basically when the tissue on the bottom of your feet is inflamed and at the same time my feet are starting to flatten so I'll have to undergo surgery for that. My question is that I really want to exercise still and stay in shape but I can't really run or walk on my feet, got any ideas of what I could to keep in shape?

Hey girl! Ride a stationary bike! It's low impact on your feet, so it shouldn't be too painful. Also, do situps and pushups and lift weights to build strength.

A couple of years ago i got a really bad rash that was bumpy and bubbly (eww). So my mom took me to the doctors. It turned out that I had something called "shingles" it hurt really bad for a week and then it stopped hurting. But now it's been like 2 years and i still have the rash thing. I'm wondering if you no why i still have it or how to get rid of it becasue i know a couple people who have had shingles before but the rash never stayed. Its really embarrassing when i have to change in gym class in front of alot of people. And i can't wear a two peice bathing suit because the rash is on my stomach. I don't know what too do!! Do you have an idea about this??? Thanks so much if you do!!

I know it sounds weird, but Im self concious about my side profile lol. When I look in the mirror with another mirror showing the side of my face I feel like my nose is too big and my eyebrows are too short. I've been told I have nice eyebrows and I like them (they're like Selena Gomez's because I shaped them that way) and my mom and sister always say what a perfect nose I have and that they're jealous of it, I just cant see it though. I want a cute little nose, but mines not like that. I want to stop fussing over how I look from the side ( it still sounds weird haha) and just think that I look pretty from that angle like I feel when I look at my self straight on. Help ???

In all honesty I dont like my side profile either. But you cant focus on that,. If you look beautiful from the front, who cares about your side profile?? Also im sure youre an amazing girl and things like beauty on the inside are always more important than how your side profile looks. Dont fret xoxo kerra

i have alot of scars. i have one on each of my knees, i got one on my wrist, and two on one foot.

but i sounds strange but i like having them. because they are sort of apart of who i am since ech one of them has a stroy.

but personaly i don't think it's worth forking over alot of money to get them removed. even though i still don't get how they can move a scar from one place to another.

I think some scars on guys look sexy. Its kind of intriguing if they are in the right place. Is that weird that I think its a turn on for guys to have scars? There is this guy in one of my classes and he has a scar and when we talk I sometimes look at it and I know he knows that I like it.

I have a really big scar on the back of my leg, because it got cut open with glass when I was five. But I wouldn't want to get rid of it because it's part of who I am. I kinda like it. And most people don't really notice it. But still, good conversation starter if they do!

Well, I've had a scar awn my nose for ah-bout 5 years. I've used Bio Oil and Vitamin E and they did nothing. The best thing I've ever done with it is laser surgery (no surgery involved, just light!) it works wonders. Good luck!

Hey girl, you need to talk to an adult. Sometimes we can feel sad for no reason (hormones, etc.) but you need to make sure someone else knows how you're feeling. You shouldn't have to go through your feelings alone and they can help you cheer up.
