Help me feel less stressed

 

I’ve been so stressed lately, and I’m angry all the time. 


I tried meditation and yoga, but they don’t help.


It’s great you’re so motivated, says child and adolescent therapist Angela Marie McMahon. “Those two exercises can help the mind and body chill,” says Ms. McMahon. “Energetic activities such as biking, Rollerblading, or walking and talking with a friend (or dog) can also calm you.


Team sports are super, too. What better time to use your girl power to try soccer? Imagine taking your stress and anger, and using it as fuel for your activity.”


Ms. McMahon also suggests learning what’s behind the stress and anger. “These powerful emotions can be warning signs of a bigger problem,” she cautions. “Counselors or therapists can help you figure out why you feel this way so you can deal with the real issues inside. And seeing a therapist doesn’t mean you’re crazy or psycho. Many girls work on problems with therapists.” Talk to your parents and doctor about finding a pro who is right for you.
