I'm worried about my weight. I went to my doctor for a physical and she said I was at a good weight, but I still think I'm fat. I have low self-esteem. Even my dad makes comments about by tummy! My sister is skinnier than me and I don't know what to do!


Sometimes I think about puking...on purpose. I know I shouldn't because of later effects and it's bad for you etc., but I still think about it! Girls at my school are skinnier than me and I hate it. How can I stop thinking these things?


Hey girl!

Beauty should never be based on your weight. I'm sure you're perfect and pretty just the way you are. Remember that your true gorgeousness comes from stuff ya can't physically see—like your smarts, your amazing singing voice or your ability to be a great friend. Here's how to get happy and feel confident about yourself.


Stop the self-esteem bashing

Tell your dad you don’t like it when he makes comments about your tummy. He might just be joking, but still, if he's hurting you, you need to let him know. If you don't feel comfy talking to your pops yourself, approach your mom or an aunt or older sibling who can relay the message.


Quit comparing

If your doc said that you're a healthy weight...then you are! There are always going to be girls who are skinnier than you (and I know, because I’m no stick thin gal myself). Everyone (especially girls!) comes in different shapes and size, so embrace your uniqueness. You are only going to drive yourself crazy if you constantly compare yourself to other girls, so don’t! Base your self-esteem on your accomplishments—like scoring the lead in a play, getting straight As or leading your school's food drive—not your physical appearance.


Make plans

It seems like you're super-concerned about your weight, but you need to be more concerned about your health. Purging food and starving yourself can cause fatal problems in the future (not to mention the mental toll it will take on you), so it’s important to steer clear of doing anything dangerous to lose a few pounds. Make sure your diet is well-balanced and filled with protein, fruits and veggies. Exercise regularly doing something you like to do, whether that’s running, playing soccer or dancing to your iPod. When you live a healthy lifestyle, you will feel healthy and one hundred times better about yourself. For more safe, fun tips on getting healthy, head to G-Life. And if you still feel badly about your weight, please head to a guidance counselor or trusted adult to talk about it ASAP.


C'mon get happy

The most important thing you can do to get rid of your negative thoughts is to think positive. Every time you start comparing yourself, stop, breathe and tell yourself two positive things about yourself (like how you aced your history exam or how close you are to getting a personal best in your track event). Listen to your doc about your weight, and remember, skinny doesn’t equal beautiful. The prettiest girls are the happiest girls, so keep your chin up.

i wasnt happy with my weight.people said i looked like a skeleton but i couldnt see it.and now people still say im skinny but i cant see it.i have a belly and i wish i was flat stomached.but im not.ive been overweight my entier life and i never want to go back to that feeling of peole teasing me and such ever again.my boyfriend tries to convince me im beautiful and such, but i cant help but think he only says that because he loves me and doesnt want to hurt my feelings.i know i need help, but i wont take thereapy.no way.i dont have time for that between so many honors classes, dance, theatre, swim and running.theres just not enough hours in the day for me to get help.and to be honest, i dont want to get help.i dont like not eating, but its like im addicted to the feeling of loosing weight.i know that its healthy to eat to maintain your weight, but ever since last year all i do is eat to loose weight it seems...and i binge occaisonally.like, i dont binge and then throw up anymore

swim.then id stuff my face with whatever i could find and then i would shower and force myself to throw up what i ate in the shower.it wasnt always like this...before this i would starve myself and eat nothing for a few days or i would eat very little and excersise alot.but it was hard not eating.it was easier to throw up what i ate.but...i got caught.by my best friend one night.i talked to her for the first time about it.then she made me talk to my parents.who made me talk to my doctor.i not longer throw up.but...i struggle every day with eating vs. not eating.im a competitive swimmer so i always eat good the days before meets...but i try very hard to not eat otherwise.im not exactly sure what to do...ive gained alot of weight it seems to me since i stopped throwing up.ive gained a jean size and i cant see my rips through the top of my chest anymore.i know this is a good thing, but its hard on me because theres not a day that goes by that i dont wish i was thinner.even when i threw up

i need help.
serious help.
about over a year ago for my 8th grade promotion i had bought this beautiful dress.i started eating and sneaking alot of candy and chocolate and overeating alot...three months went by and a month and a half before my promotion i tried on my dress again and it didnt fit.so, i started running.i started eating healthy.ive always been big and overweight.so i continued eating healthy and running and i felt great!that summer i lost quite a bit of weight, but it was all by eating healthy and excersising...something i never really did before.but then freshman year started.i would never eat breakfast and pretty soon i started skipping lunch too.then i started skipping my afternoon snack.and then i would only eat dinner.i stayed very active in dance and with running.then i joined swim and my school play.i wouldnt eat until 930 every night after i was done with the days activities(right after school i would go to rehearsle, then right after that id go to dance and or

im 11 yrs old, and i weigh about 120 pounds! i need help! my brother keeps on making fun of me.... i personally think i need to lose weight, but HOW??!! i try to exercise but i can't keep it up...and there is now way i can live through a diet...im trying to stay away from junk food but its so tempting... PLEASE HELP!
