GirlsLife.com - I can't fall asleep

It takes me over an hour to fall asleep after my head hits the pillow. Is something wrong?

Relax. Literally. Most likely, you aren’t getting enough down time before hitting the sheets. Many teens expect to zoom through homework, IMs and MTV, then zonk right out at bedtime. That’s not how falling into a peaceful slumber works.

Before beddie-bye, settle down by having a light snack, listening to mellow music or reading a book. Dr. Judith Owens, author of Take Charge of Your Child’s Sleep, explains that a nightly routine triggers your bod and brain that it’s time to get some zzz’s. Avoid watching the tube—that keeps you wired.

If you can’t fall asleep within a half hour of crawling under the covers, get out of bed—you don’t want to associate lying in bed with being awake. Get up and read a boring book (give War and Peace a shot), and hop back into the sack when you feel pooped. Sweet dreams.

Yo. I deal with slight insomnia. This is a result of the body not producing enough of Melanin, which helps regulate your sleep. I take 1 Melatonin dissolvable tablet. Take it 1 hour before bedtime, and your all set! Also, I use a sleeping mask that is very cold over my eyes and it soothes your eyes and keeps them closed (they don't close your eyes, the mask just makes them hard to open, like all masks). Sweet dreams!!!!!!

We don't know eachother that much and I want to become better friends with him next year, since next year I will be in the high school building (7th-12th). My family and I don't really like this school. My mom said we might transfer. At first I was all for it and happy (cause the girls in my class were being mean to me), But now I realize I won't get to become better friends with Mason. He will probably forget all about me. What should I do??????????? How can i become better friends with Mason? How do u flirt with someone 2 years older than u? plz help! how do u get a guy to text u first?

Hey chicky, just be friendly and laid back when you're around Mason. Try to talk to him as much as you can, but not so much that you freak him out. Does he like a certain sports team? Try to strike up a convo about that, or ask him a question about a class, or what's he's doing over the weekend. Just be friendly, and joke around with him so that he feels comfortable with you. If you can, start talking online some, whether via facebook, or aim. Sometimes it's easier to first get to know a crush that way. Eventually, you'll be able to ask him to hang out with you and your friends. If you guys can establish a solid friendship, then he won't forget about you if you move. Good luck

i have the exact same problem! what i do is just listen to my ipod before i go to sleep. like under my covers and everything. it's relaxing! but i don't let it go on cause that will waste the battery, so right before i'm all sleepy i turn it off. that usually works. and i always have to read, too. that gets me relaxed. haha but that's just what works for me... who knowws loll
