Ugh. SO ME.
I hate it. My bedtime is 8:30. Light out at 9:00. Then I have to get up at 6am.
But I NEVER fall asleep before, like, Midnight.

I used to have this problem now I do the same thing every night to acheive a normal sleep routine and it has been working great I also go to bed around 8:00 and fall aslepp at around 9:00 on shcool nights because I get exausted without enough sleep

i have the same problem, and sometimes i even take some store brand sleep meds(has the same stuff that the allergy stuff has to make you drowsy) but its even worse at sleepovers, so i dont go sometimes and i feel bad cause it stops me from having fun. i just wish i could fall asleep

Its funny when i see ppl complaining about taking an hour to fall asleep I have really severe insomnia but its like i fall asleep between 2 and 5am. Its really frustrating and absoulutly nothing helps me. In your case I heard a lot of kids during puperity have minor insomnia so I wouldn't worring about it.

i used to never b able to fall asleep but i started changing things about my environment like listening to music for a few days(i would recommend radio because its different every night unlike playlists and CDs so u can use those for longer) or have my cat sleep with me sometimes or change my blankets

i have the exact same problem! what i do is just listen to my ipod before i go to sleep. like under my covers and everything. it's relaxing! but i don't let it go on cause that will waste the battery, so right before i'm all sleepy i turn it off. that usually works. and i always have to read, too. that gets me relaxed. haha but that's just what works for me... who knowws loll

Yo. I deal with slight insomnia. This is a result of the body not producing enough of Melanin, which helps regulate your sleep. I take 1 Melatonin dissolvable tablet. Take it 1 hour before bedtime, and your all set! Also, I use a sleeping mask that is very cold over my eyes and it soothes your eyes and keeps them closed (they don't close your eyes, the mask just makes them hard to open, like all masks). Sweet dreams!!!!!!

i find if i listen to a podcast (like a talk show, sort of, that you can download onto your iPod), it helps me fall asleep faster! you can find a bunch of them on the iTunes store for free-my favorites are gleeful, smart mouths, mugglecast, and imprint!

I have this problem, only it takes me 2 & 1/2 hours! But follow this rule: it works! Say the alphabet over and over, slowly in your head, and you'll be out in no time! I tried this last night and it worked like a charm!

OMG!this ALWAYS happens to me but the werid thing is on fri and sat. i fall asleep right way and on fri i go to bed the same time as the rest of the week and sun!!!Then i wake up and am lk "god i need more sleep! go to bed earlyer!" but the werid thing was that i was fine till my grandma told me that she has to wait half an hour to fall asleep and thats wat happens to me now!!

Hey girl! I recommend getting a sound machine (I think they have them at target) it has like 6 different sounds on one machine (my fav is the ocean, btw! It is so relaxing!) I have one and I can't get to sleep without it! I also have this pillow spray stuff from Bath and Body Works. You just spray your pillow once right before you go to bed to make your pillow smell really good and helps you get to sleep! It really works too! It is kind of expensive, but it lasts a long time! Hope this helps!

OMG I have the exact same problem! Sometimes I'm up until like 1 in the morning just trying to go to bed! Reading really helps, but getting a warm glass of milk also helps you feel sleepy. Also, if I am really restless and tossing and turning a lot, I turn on the lights and do some squats and crunches until I'm really tired! After you do all that exercise, you kinda just wanna lie down and rest, which will hopefully get you to sleep!

I've tried ALL of this. If you have serious insomnia, it probably won't work. Trust me. I had a sleep study done. It showed nothing. I was later diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Get a sleep study done. If nothing comes out of it, go to a rumotologist and ask about fibromyalgia. Seriously.

this is the same thing that used to happen to me,it is not as bad anymore. Usually i wouldn't fall asleep until maybe 2-3 hours after i hit bed. reading a book wouldn't help because no matter how uninteresting the book was i would find a reason to keep reading. I love to read.

Lets see I usually go to bed between 10 and 11, and it's atleast 2 or 3 before i fall asleep... Ofcourse it may have to do with being restless from injuries.. itw as my knee, then my broken wrist, broken bone in my hand and now i sprained ankle so that doesn't help!
